  • Patent number: 7332825
Abstract: This invention overcomes the disadvantages of the prior art by providing a power generating system particularly suitable for field use in remote locations, which is fuel-efficient, relatively quiet, tolerant of dust, capable of operating on low grade logistics and diesel-like fuels and capable of generating between 500 W and 2 KW of continuous electrical power. This generating system employs a two-cycle MICE generator having a piston that operates within a cylinder, and an interconnected, axially moving piston shaft that oscillates an alternator coil within a magnetic core. The piston shaft is attached to, and resisted by, the free end of a strong spring with a second, opposing end fixed to the MICE casing. To control operation of the MICE generator a dual clipper circuit is operatively connected with the alternator coil.

  • Patent number: 7332827
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for controlling a power-grid connected wind turbine generator during grid faults. During grid faults, the stator windings of the wind turbine generator are disconnected from the power grid and impedances for dissipating at least part of the power generated by the wind turbine during grid fault condition are connected to the stator windings. In this way, a certain magnetisation of the generator can be maintained and after removal of the grid fault condition, the generator is synchronised to the power grid and the impedances are disconnected and the stator windings are reconnected to the power grid. In this way, it is possible to keep the wind turbine generator at least partly magnetised during grid faults and thus ready for delivering power to the power grid, as soon as the grid voltage is re-established after the fault.

  • Patent number: 7332829
Abstract: In a condition monitor system for controlling a power supply in a vehicle, a charge/discharge circuit has a capacitor which is discharged in response to each of speed pulses of a speed sensor and periodic pulses of a microcomputer. When none of the pulses are generated due to abnormality, the capacitor is continuously charged without being discharged. When the charge voltage of the capacitor reaches a switching voltage, a relay is turned off to shut off the power supply to various parts in the vehicle. The charge/discharge circuit is commonly used to check generation of the speed pulses and the periodic pulses by setting the switching voltage in accordance with a possible maximum time interval of the speed pulses.

Abstract: In an LED lamp, a copper film is first formed on a substrate by plating. A resist is then bonded onto the copper film so that shaped like a ring viewed from the whole of the LED lamp. A nickel and a gold film are formed on a portion of the copper film where the resist is not bonded. Next, an adhesive agent is applied onto a bottom of the lamp house so that the lamp house is bonded onto the substrate through the adhesive agent. A transparent epoxy resin is packed in the frame of the lamp house and hardened by heating to perform resin sealing. Since the resist is bonded onto the surface of copper having a large number of fine irregularities sufficient to ensure a large contact area and excellent in adhesion, separation can be prevented from being caused by thermal stress.

Abstract: A lamp driving apparatus of a liquid crystal display device and method of driving lamps in a liquid crystal display are described. The lamp driving apparatus includes lamps that irradiate a liquid crystal display panel with light. An inverter receives a DC voltage from an exterior voltage source, converts the DC voltage into an AC signal and supplies the converted AC signal to the lamps. A feedback circuit is arranged between the inverter and the lamps. The feedback circuit detects currents from the lamps. An inspecting part is disposed between the feedback circuit and the lamps. The inspecting part contains light emitting devices to determine if each of the lamps is operating normally or has an abnormality.

Abstract: A power supply apparatus includes an inverter controller, a power transforming part and a connecting part. The power transforming part converts a direct current supplied from the inverter controller into an alternating current to output first and second polarity currents. The connecting part outputs the first and second polarity currents to first and second end portions of a load through first and second terminals, respectively and has a third terminal to receive a sensed signal in response to the first or second polarity currents so as to output the sensed signal. The first terminal is spaced apart from the second terminal by a first insulating distance, and the third terminal is spaced apart from the first or second terminals adjacent to the third terminal by a second insulating distance. Therefore, the sensed signal is independent of the output power, thereby increasing the sensing efficiency.

Abstract: An initial driving voltage fixing a desired luminance of a light-emitting source is set at a voltage lower than that of a power supply; the light-emitting source is driven by applying a light-emitting source driving voltage at the initial driving voltage; and then, a CPU determines whether or not the power supply voltage has dropped down the initial driving voltage. When the power supply voltage has become lower than the initial driving voltage, the CPU applies the light-emitting source driving voltage to the source at the power supply voltage, and holds an undervoltage information of the power supply that the power supply voltage has dropped. When the CPU detennined that the power supply voltage had returned higher than or equal to the initial driving voltage after holding the undervoltage information, the CPU gradually returns the light-emitting source driving voltage to the initial driving voltage.
