Publication number: 20080093125Abstract: System and methods for creating shaped, non-circular boreholes in rocks especially for use with geothermal heat pump applications and for increasing wellbore support in applications such as horizontal oil and gas drilling are described. The systems and methods when applied to geothermal heat pumps create an elliptical shaped hole that is optimized for placing heat transfer tubes with a minimum of grout used. The significantly reduced cross-sectional area of the elliptical borehole also increases the overall drilling rate in rock and especially in hard rocks. In horizontal hard-rock drilling, creation of a horizontal non-circular borehole or modification of a circular borehole to a non-circular geometry is used to stabilize the borehole prior to casing insertion, and may also allow the use of lower mud pressures improving drilling rates. Publication number: 20080093141Abstract: The control procedure of the invention sets a target rotation speed Ne* and a target torque Te* of an engine corresponding to a torque demand Td* required for driving the vehicle (steps S100 to S120). Publication number: 20080093154Abstract: A drive train for a compressor and a hydraulic pump of a motor vehicle, and a method of use are described. The system includes a hydraulic power steering system, an electric superimposed steering system for providing steering assistance, and a motor vehicle drive motor with a common output shaft for driving the compressor and the hydraulic pump. Also provided are means for reducing the power which is supplied to the compressor and to the hydraulic pump via the output shaft, when demands made of the compressor and of the steering assistance system permit reduced power operation. The power which is supplied to the compressor and to the hydraulic pump via the output shaft may be reduced substantially to zero when operation of the compressor is unnecessary and the electric superimposed steering system is sufficient to provide alone the steering assistance.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2007Publication date: April 24, 2008Applicant: Knorr-Bremse Systeme fuer Nutzfahrzeuge GmbHInventor: Eduard Gerum

Publication number: 20080093155Abstract: A power steering apparatus includes a steering shaft, a hydraulic power cylinder, a hydraulic pump, a steering shaft actuator, a condition sensor, and a fluid pressure controller. The steering shaft is connected to a steering wheel. The hydraulic power cylinder is mechanically linked to the steering shaft. The hydraulic power cylinder has first and second fluid pressure chambers for producing an assist steering effort. The hydraulic pump supplies a first fluid pressure to the hydraulic power cylinder. The steering shaft actuator receives a second fluid pressure from the hydraulic pump, and applies a torque to the steering shaft by the second fluid pressure. The condition sensor collects information concerning at least one of an associated host vehicle, an associated driver and an associated road. The fluid pressure controller receives the collected information from the condition sensor, and controls the steering shaft actuator based on the collected information.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 22, 2007Publication date: April 24, 2008Inventors: Shogo Ishikawa, Toshihiro Arai, Toru Hasebe, Sosuke Sunaga, Takashi Sasaki
