Abstract: In a panel (1a) of a touch panel (1), a coordinate axis x is set by connecting points A and B that are current observation points. When a designated point P is designated on the panel (1a), currents (i1) and (i2) corresponding respectively to a distance between the designated point P and the point A and a distance between the designated point P and the point B flow respectively to a resistive film between the points P and A and a resistive film between the points P and B by voltage sources (e1) and (e2), and a sum of these currents flows to an impedance Z connected to the designated point P. A coordinate x of the designated point P is calculated by detecting the currents (i1) and (i2).

Abstract: When the driver heavily depresses an accelerator pedal to start a hybrid vehicle in an engine stop condition, the control of the invention waits until elapse of a preset wait time and then starts outputting a torque equivalent to a preset torque demand to a ring gear shaft or a driveshaft. The preset wait time is determined not to make the driver feel uncomfortable with a poor response. This arrangement desirably shortens a time period when the vehicle acceleration is restricted due to insufficient power output until the engine starts to output sufficient power and make significant contribution to the vehicle acceleration. The control of the invention thus desirably prevents the driver from feeling the unexpectedly slow acceleration.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a torque converter is provided with a fluid coupling and a viscous coupling. The viscous coupling includes a plurality of closely-spaced surfaces, wherein facing ones of the closely-spaced surfaces are alternately splined to rotate with driving or driven elements of the torque converter, and wherein the closely-spaced surfaces have an average spacing that causes ones of the surfaces rotating with the driving elements to exert a viscous pull on ones of the surfaces rotating with the driven elements when the torque converter is filled with a viscous fluid. A fluid receiving portion of the torque converter receives a viscous fluid into the torque converter, and a fluid return portion expels the viscous fluid from the torque converter.

Abstract: The three mode overrunning bi-directional clutch has a first mode where the slipper race and fixed race are coupled and power is not transmitted between the inner input shaft and the outer shaft. A second mode where the slipper race is uncoupled from the fixed race and the slipper race engages the outer shaft to provide power transmission between the inner shaft and the outer shaft. The third mode couples the slipper race to the fixed race but uses a brake to provide radial force against the slipper race to allow for partial engagement between the slipper race and the outer shaft. This third mode allows for a smooth transition between the first mode and the second mode.

Abstract: A torque limiter includes a shaft assembly, a torque limiting element and two friction rollers. The shaft assembly has a middle section and two ends on two sides of the middle section. The torque limiting element coils around the middle section of the shaft assembly and contacts with the shaft assembly to provide a limiting torque to the shaft assembly. The friction rollers are respectively fixed to the two ends of the shaft assembly.

Abstract: In a clutch manipulation assist device which includes a clutch assist actuator, the actuator is arranged at a position where it is possible to suppress the influence of heat from an engine on the actuator without requiring the heat insulation structure or the like. In a clutch manipulation assist device which includes a clutch mechanism 61 which is arranged in a power transmission path for transmitting a rotational driving force of an engine to a wheel, a clutch-manipulation mechanism in which a clutch manipulation force is inputted, and an actuator which generates a clutch assist force in response to a manipulation of the clutch manipulation mechanism, the actuator is arranged in front of the engine and outside a main frame.

Abstract: A multi-plate clutch system includes an outer clutch member having a plurality of first clutch plates thereon, a central spool having a plurality of second clutch plates thereon interspaced with the first clutch plates. The clutch system also includes a cam mechanism including a protruding cam and a recessed cam. The protruding cam and the recessed cam respectively include first inclined faces and second inclined faces, which are inclined in the same direction with respect to the circumferential direction. The protruding cam is thus brought into a point contact with the recessed cam during clutch engagement. As such, the multi-plate clutch system can maintain constant variable characteristics of the clutch capacity even when there is a variation in processing accuracy at the time of the production.
