Abstract: Devices for cleaning vessels, especially swimming pools, are discussed. The devices may include a non-linear flow path in a gap surrounding an in-line valve. This non-linearity permits lengths of concentric pipes forming the gap to be decreased without sacrificing operational performance of the devices. Valves forming parts of the cleaning devices may be diaphragms but shaped, sized, reinforced, or configured differently than existing valves and may have collapsible segments whose interior shape resembles an ellipse in transverse cross-section. Co-molding of diaphragms and pipes may occur, and inner and outer cups may be used to fix relative positions of various components of the devices.

Abstract: The invention relates to a mechanism for driving the head of an electric toothbrush. The mechanism includes a cam 20 rotatably driven by a motor 10 and an elongate transfer member 30 having a receiver 40 for receiving the cam at one end and a mechanism for transferring oscillatory motion to a toothbrush head 60 at the other end thereof. Cam 20 has a projecting head 23 which is received in a substantially rectangular aperture 41 of the receiver 40. The long side of the substantially rectangular aperture has a length equal to or greater than the diameter of the circular motion of the projecting head 23, the short side has a length less than the long side of the rectangular aperture. Thus, in use, circular motion of the projecting head of the cam is converted into oscillatory pivoting motion of the transfer member 30 by action of the projecting head 23 against the short sides of the substantially rectangular aperture 41.

The hairbrush handle consist of a cylinder or square shaped grip to accommodate the batteries, motor, gears, and pushrod that make up the drive system for the bristle plate. The head portion of the handle has C-shaped channels protruding downward from the long sides of the rectangular shaped head of the handle having the channels parallel and pointing toward the center creating rails for the bristle plate to ride on.

Abstract: A method for fabricating a supermirror for forming a neutron guide. In the method, a neutron supermirror, which is widely used in the formation of thin films in cold neutron guides and the spectrometer field, is fabricated with nickel thin films and titanium thin films, having varying thickness, using a combination of monochromator structures in which nickel thin films and titanium thin films, having the same thickness, are stacked in the form of periodic structures. According to the method, a combination of monochromator structures having a variety of different thicknesses is formed, such that the amount of the overlap of peaks due to the monochromator structures can be adjusted to increase reflectivity, and some of the monochromator structures can be removed during the fabrication of the supermirror to make it easy to extract monochromatic beams, such that it is easy to fabricate a transmission monochromator, rather than a reflection monochromator.

Abstract: When a chamber of an oscillator and one or more amplifiers is to be replaced at the timing when a predetermined period elapses, one of the chambers of the oscillator and the amplifiers having a low allowable deterioration limit is detached and this chamber is attached in place of one of the chambers of the oscillator and the amplifiers other than the one having the low allowable deterioration limit. Thus, the chamber which has been used in one of the oscillator and amplifiers having a low allowable deterioration limit and has not reached the limit of deterioration is reused in one of the oscillator and the amplifiers other than the one having the low allowable deterioration limit. This enables efficient use of oscillator and amplifier chambers in a multistage amplification laser apparatus, minimizing the labor and parts consumed for replacement thereof.
