Abstract: A bar connecting apparatus applies clips to connect transverse bars used in reinforced concrete. A clip string is fed into the bar connecting apparatus by a clip feed assembly, so several pairs of transverse bars can be connected in rapid succession. A hammer reciprocates in the barrel of the bar connecting apparatus, and drives a clip from the barrel into engagement with the bars. An alignment head aligns the bar connecting apparatus with the transverse bars so the clips properly engage the bars.

Abstract: A slurry product is packaged into a plastic bag using a modified form-fill-seal apparatus. A method for making a plastic bag filled with a desired weight of a slurry material on a form/fill/seal machine, includes drawing a plastic film over a mandrel of a form/fill/seal machine and wrapping the film around a forming tube. A tube of plastic film is formed by bonding the edges of the film together and the bottom of the tube is sealed. An initial weight is obtained by weighing the mandrel and the tube of plastic film then a slurry composition is deposited inside the closed tube. The present weight of the mandrel, tube of plastic film and contents of the tube are monitored as the slurry is deposited, and the present weight and the initial weight are compared until a desired weight is reached. After the desired weight is reached, the filled bag is sealed and separated from the tube of plastic film.

Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for guiding an animal includes a hackamore for the purpose of riding without a mouth bit, chains or side shanks. Neck reining is encouraged by applying pressure to the neck and the outside of the lower jaw on the same side, which then encourages the horse to bend in the proper direction. Because of the uniquely designed hackamore, the horse is encouraged to stop with minimum pressure. As the neck rein pressure is applied, the plate twists and applies pressure to the side of the jaw, the horse moves away from the pressure providing more control to the rider. Because of the instant release of the pressure, the horse feels the rider's instant and complete release which provides for easier and faster training of the horse. The adjustable nature of the hackamore allows for the rider to fit various animals unique muzzle structure.

Abstract: A diesel exhaust purification device for decreasing the amount of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides includes a Catalyzed Diesel Particulate Filter (CDPF) disposed in an exhaust conduit to capture particulate matter (PM). A differential pressure sensor detects the amount of PM contained in the CDPF. A post-injection injector is in the exhaust conduit. A Diesel Fuel Decomposition Catalyst (DFC) forms a reducing agent by decomposing the fuel injected from the post-injection injector. A nitrogen oxide adsorbing catalyst reduces nitrogen oxides accumulated therein and removes them using the reducing agent. A nitrogen oxide sensor in the exhaust conduit detects the amount of nitrogen oxides in exhaust gases.

Abstract: An axle driving apparatus in which a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor which constitute a hydrostatic transmission are disposed on a center section. In a horizontal portion of the center section are provided a pair of linear oil passages in parallel to each other. A pair of arcuate ports are provided on a pump mounting surface formed on the horizontal portion of the center section. The pair of arcuate ports are substantially perpendicular with respect to the direction in which the oil passages extend. The axis of slanting movement of a movable swash plate of the hydraulic pump extends laterally of the vehicle body on which the axle driving apparatus is provided. The rotating direction of an arm provided on a control shaft for slantingly operating the movable swash plate is coincident with the operating direction of a control rod connected with a speed changing member. Thus, the link mechanism for connecting the speed changing member and the control arm for the movable swash plate is simplified.

Abstract: A hydraulic system that allows pressurized fluid to be stolen from a master or lift cylinder and directed to a single acting cylinder to perform a function. The system utilizes a spring in the single acting cylinder to force the fluid to retract through the same single line that powered the single acting cylinder. The fluid is then routed to the unloaded side of the master cylinder. This system provides many cost efficiencies and may be utilized by work vehicles to perform secondary functions such as attaching and removing an implement and locking and unlocking a loader.

Abstract: An engine including an exhaust system operable to convey exhaust gases from the engine. A turbocharger is in fluid communication with the exhaust system. A diesel particulate filter, disposed in fluid communication with the exhaust system and located in downstream relation to the turbocharger, operates to substantially remove particulate matter from within the exhaust gases. An exhaust gas recirculation passage, disposed in upstream relation from the turbocharger and diesel particulate filter, operates to communicate a portion of the exhaust gases to an air-to-air heat exchanger, which operates to cool the portion of the exhaust gases. An exhaust gas recirculation valve operates to selectively and variably communicate the portion of the exhaust gases to an inlet air duct of an intake system. An engine cover defines an opening operable to communicate ambient air to the air-to-air heat exchanger to promote the cooling of the portion of the exhaust gases.

Abstract: An exhaust valve assembly includes a flapper valve fixed to a valve shaft where the flapper valve is movable between a closed position, an intermediate position, and an open position. A resilient member biases the flapper valve toward the closed position. An electric actuator actively moves the flapper valve at least from the closed position to the intermediate position. A coupling mechanism couples the valve shaft to an electric actuator shaft and allows the flapper valve to move to the open position in response to exhaust flow sufficient to overcome a biasing force of the resilient member without requiring input from the electric actuator.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a fuel-control system and associated methods for regulating the administration of a fuel to a fuel consuming device are disclosed. In one aspect, the fuel consuming device is a gas turbine receiving fuel through a feeder conduit from first and second sources of gas. According to one method, natural gas fuel is delivered from said first and second sources into said surge tank via first and second conduits, each conduit having pressure-control valves and sensors. The natural gas is delivered to the turbine from the surge tank via a feeder conduit. Pressure measurements are taken by the sensors for the first and second conduits, which are sent to a controller. The controller is then used to manipulate the valves to supply the turbine with fuel.
