  • Patent number: 7392120
Abstract: In a vehicle dynamics control apparatus capable of balancing a vehicle dynamics stability control system and a lane deviation prevention control system, a cooperative control section is provided to make a cooperative control between lane deviation prevention control (LDP) and vehicle dynamics stability control (VDC). When a direction of yawing motion created by LDP control is opposite to a direction of yawing motion created by VDC control, the cooperative control section puts a higher priority on VDC control rather than LDP control. Conversely when the direction of yawing motion created by LDP control is identical to the direction of yawing motion created by VDC control, a higher one of the LDP desired yaw moment and the VDC desired yaw moment is selected as a final desired yaw moment, to prevent over-control, while keeping the effects obtained by both of VDC control and LDP control.

  • Patent number: 7392124
Abstract: In a swather formed by a tractor and attached header for cutting standing crop to form a swath, reel speed and optionally draper speed are controlled relative to ground speed by a control system including a manually operable input and display available to the operator. The control system acts to calibrate” the control output so that the control module has a secondary reference point as to how the PWM valve should function in the event of a speed sensor failure. Instead of using the speed sensor signal as a reference, the control system now compares the set point with the stored table (which may in one example provide 256 values) containing the PWM voltage/current values. These values correspond to a set of actual speed sensor values taken during the profiling procedure, plus extrapolated values equalling 256 points.

  • Patent number: 7392130
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for determining traffic conditions using wireless devices. A number of signals from the vehicles traveling in selected routes are received by several wireless communication networks via the wireless devices. The total number of signals received are used to compare if there are sufficient number of vehicles traveling on the selected routes. If so, then the location information of the moving vehicles at various times is determined by the wireless communication network and forwarded to a central computer. The central computer coordinates with the wireless communications network for information needed to compute traffic data. The central computer computes the velocity of the moving vehicles and a traffic profile is created based on the velocity and location information of the moving vehicles. Furthermore, the traffic profile is sent to the moving vehicles.

  • Patent number: 7392136
Abstract: The invention allows construction of the architecture of sedimentary layers deposited on a topographic surface as a result of the passage of sedimentary currents, using cellular automata. The topographic surface is discretized into a set of cellular automata. Then, for each current and each automaton, a stationary physical state resulting from an iterative process wherein intermediate physical states are constructed by material and energy exchanges between the automata is determined. These automata are thus constructed so as to be representative of the action of the sedimentary currents on the construction of the sedimentary architecture. A set of geologic variables allowing the architecture of the sedimentary layers to be reconstructed is thus deduced from these stationary physical states. Preferred fields of application of the method are oil exploration and production and reservoir characterization.

  • Patent number: 7392150
Abstract: An electronic device is proposed for accompanying a perishable good during one period to monitor the exposure of the good to an environmental parameter, such as temperature. The device includes a data interface for receiving data representing the exposure of the good to the environmental parameter during an immediately preceding period. It further includes a sensor for measuring the environmental parameter. Also, the device includes a processor for using a relationship specific to the good (such an Arrhenius equation for that good) to compute a characteristic of the good at the end of the one period using the received data and the output of the sensor. The device further includes a memory for recording the output of the sensor. To economise on memory usage, data is stored at a faster rate during periods when the data is of most significant (e.g. it indicates a high temperature).

Abstract: A method of initializing the position and direction of a mining vehicle, and a mining vehicle. An environmental model and route points are stored in a control system of the vehicle. The environment of the vehicle is scanned, and scanned points are generated based on obstacles observed. The control system is arranged to determine coordinates of the scanned points by using the position of the route points within a search range and at least one direction. The coordinates calculated for the scanned points are compared with the environmental model. Such a route point and direction are selected as initial values for the mining vehicle, by which the generated coordinates of the scanned points best match the environmental model.

  • Patent number: 7392153
Abstract: Method and system for measuring a relative position and orientation of range cameras using a movement of an object within a scene. In general, the method and system determine the relative pose between two cameras by measuring a path the movement of the object makes within a scene and calculating transformation parameters based on these measurements. These transformation parameters are used to determine the relative position of each camera with respect to a base camera. The system and method include other novel features, such as a data synchronization feature that uses a time offset between cameras to obtain the transformation parameters, and a technique that improves the robustness and accuracy of solving for the transformation parameters, and an interpolation process that interpolates between sampled points if there is no data at a particular instant in time.

  • Patent number: 7392154
Abstract: Reference coordinates in a coordinate system and designated coordinates in the coordinate system based on coordinate information outputted by a pointing device are set. A distance and direction between the reference coordinates and the designated coordinates are calculated. When the distance has a value smaller than a predetermined threshold value, the distance is converted into a game parameter using a first conversion function is determined. On the other hand, when the distance has a value greater than the predetermined threshold value, the distance is converted into a game parameter using a second conversion function for converting the distance into a value greater than a value into which the distance is converted using the first conversion function. The game is processed using the direction and the game parameter.

  • Patent number: 7392159
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of determining a metric of capacity in computing systems and computer applications. Capacity in this sense refers to the ability of computer systems and computer applications to perform work. Many applications and multi-hop system strategies could benefit from understanding the amount of work a particular system or application is capable of performing. A metric such as this can be very difficult to calculate due to widely varying system hardware, operating system architectures; application behavior/performance, etc. This disclosure describes a method of dynamic capacity estimation which learns the capacity of an application or system with respect to the work asked of the system and the resources used by the application in question.

  • Patent number: 7392161
Abstract: The state or condition of a system may be evaluated by comparing a set of selected parameter values, converted into a trial vector, with a number of model or exemplar vectors, each of which was represents a particular state or condition of a sample system. Examples of such conditions may include “good”, “marginal”, “unacceptable”, “worn”, “defective”, or other general or specific conditions. Sets of parameter values from the system are converted into input vectors. Unprocessed vectors are then processed against the input vectors in an artificial neural network to generate the exemplar vectors. The exemplar vectors are stored in a memory of an operational system. During operation of the system, the trial vector is compared with the exemplar vectors. The exemplar vector which is closest to the trial vector represents a state which most closely represents the current state of the system.

  • Patent number: 7392162
Abstract: A system, method and computer program that enables an application designer to automate the process of development of computational logic based applications. The designer develops the computational logic based applications by modeling. The process of development of applications by modeling does not require any coding. The modeling activity is accomplished by using the visual modeling environment, which among other tools comprises a set of pre-built reusable components. Each component represents a dimension of functionality that is commonly required in software applications. The designer specifies application-specific context for the components. Components when provided with application specific context become tasks. The tasks are then connected together in a logical order to develop an application. The applications thus developed are then visually verified. These applications are then executed by a Model Network Engine.

  • Patent number: 7392163
Abstract: Hourglass deformations due to zero-energy or hourglass modes in rank-deficient solid elements must be effectively controlled, or the deformations may grow large and produce an unrealistic deformed geometry. Traditional methods of hourglass control allow error to accumulate by measuring hourglass deformation with incremental terms throughout a solution, which may produce inaccurate results due to unrealistic hourglass deformations. The present invention discloses a new method to control hourglass deformation without any incremental accumulations. Instead the nodal forces to resist hourglass deformations are calculated basing on the initial nodal coordinates and current nodal coordinates at each cycle. The present invention is implemented in a finite element software product.
