Tobacco is a renewable, potentially inexpensive bioproduct that provides excellent corrosion protection with little or no environmental concerns.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 31, 2007Publication date: July 10, 2008Applicant: Inhibitrol, Inc.Inventors: Joseph A. von Fraunhofer, Timothy Langan, Guy D. Publication number: 20080163797Abstract: The present invention provides methods and compounds for reducing porosity in concrete using alkoxides. In a preferred embodiment, an Si-containing alkoxide, e.g., Si(OC2H5)4 (TEOS) or Si(OCH3)4, may be introduced to concrete where it penetrates the pore spaces. The Si-containing alkoxide undergoes hydrolysis and polymerization reactions to form silica gel, which reduces the volume of pore spaces. In addition, hydrous silica formed during the polymerization step may react with calcium hydroxide to form CSH, which may also reduce the volume of pore spaces. The calcium hydroxide may be locally available or it may be provided by introducing a Ca-containing alkoxide solution, which forms calcium hydroxide through a hydrolysis reaction.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 14, 2006Publication date: July 10, 2008Inventor: Paul W. Publication number: 20080163799Abstract: The present invention relates to a safety workbench having a working chamber enclosed by a housing and a housing front side, which has a work opening, which is closable by an adjustable front pane, the front pane having at least one additional cleaning position, in which it is situated at least partially below a closed final position, in which the work opening is completely covered, in such a way that a cleaning opening is formed between pane top edge and housing. The front pane is easier and safer to clean than the previously known safety workbenches due to this additionally provided cleaning position.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2007Publication date: July 10, 2008Inventors: Olaf Broemsen, Christoph Noll, Edmund Frickel

Publication number: 20080163803Abstract: Having an indication of changes to the heating value of municipal solid waste (MSW) and having a means to control it before the MSW is fed to the boiler enables improved combustion control and increased capacity of waste-to-energy boilers. The moisture content of MSW has a significant impact on its heating value and on boiler efficiency when combusted. Changes in moisture content also change the density of the MSW. Directly measuring the density of the MSW prior to feeding it to the boiler permits controlled addition of additional water or liquid waste to reduce the variance of the MSW heating value.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2007Publication date: July 10, 2008Applicant: COVANTA ENERGY CORPORATIONInventor: Robert L.
