The bolt may have a convex end, such as a cone end or a curved end. A plurality of bolts may be used as part of a reinforcing bar splice that also includes a sleeve. The bolts engage threaded holes of the sleeves. As the bolts are tightened, they bore into the receiving bar ends, securing the bar ends within the sleeve. Cutting edges on the bolts aid in boring the ends of the bolts into the reinforcing bar ends. Using cutting edges on the bolt ends allows deeper penetration of the bolts into the reinforcing bar ends, without increasing the amount of torque used.

Engaging the clutch transfers power from the lawn mower engine to the flexible drive shaft. Disengaging the clutch stops the power transfer, but allows the lawn mower engine to continue turning. The invention provides power take-off for several pieces of lawn care equipment including weed trimmers, hedge trimmers, edgers, chainsaws, and blowers.

    Abstract: A catalyst deterioration detecting system of an internal combustion engine includes a measuring unit that measures the oxygen storage capacity of a catalyst, a detector that detects or estimates the temperature of the catalyst, and a detector that detects poisoning of the catalyst based on the relationship between a change in the catalyst temperature and a change in the oxygen storage capacity corresponding to the change in the catalyst temperature. The change in the oxygen storage capacity corresponding to the change in the catalyst temperature varies depending on the presence or absence of poisoning of the catalyst. Thus, the catalyst deterioration detecting system is able to favorably detect poisoning of the catalyst by utilizing this relationship, and distinguish temporary deterioration due to catalyst poisoning from permanent deterioration.
