Patent number: 7415260Abstract: A current-mode direct conversion RF receiver is presented. In one set of embodiments the RF receiver comprises a simple transconductor input stage to create a current-mode modulated signal from a voltage-mode modulated signal. A downconversion mixer may be coupled to the transconductor input stage via a low impedance current cascode stage, and may operate to create a set of current-mode quadrature baseband signals from the current-mode modulated signal. The downconversion mixer may be implemented with a transistor-switching network, which may be driven by a phase locked loop (PLL) with quadrature outputs. The set of current-mode quadrature baseband signals may be converted back to the voltage domain by a transimpedance filter, which may perform channel selection for the receiver. The transimpedance filter may additionally include a low frequency zero to remove DC offsets.Type: GrantFiled: March 8, 2004Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: Standard Microsystems CorporationInventors: Troy L. Patent number: 7415264Abstract: A low noise filter is arranged to receive an input signal from a downconverter. The low noise filter is constructed to block or cancel any DC offset in the input signal, as well as filter selected frequency components from the input signal. The low noise filter uses a shared capacitor both to handle the DC offset and to set filter response characteristics. As the low noise filter is implemented with a Frequency Dependent Negative Resistance (FDNR) device, the shared capacitor may be relatively small. The low noise filter has a load capacitor, with the output of the load capacitor coupled to a bias resistor and voltage. This bias structure cooperates with the load capacitor to set a high cutoff frequency for the low noise filter useful for blocking or canceling the DC offset.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2004Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: Skyworks Solutions, Inc.Inventors: Aly Ismail, John E. Patent number: 7415266Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for providing pre-pay and post-pay calls. After receiving a pre-pay call, an integrated service platform obtains and transfers a pre-pay destination number and a pre-pay validation parameter to a switching system. The switching system then releases the pre-pay call extension to the integrated service platform and extends the pre-pay call using the pre-pay destination number. As the pre-pay call is in progress, the switching system monitors a duration of the pre-pay call and terminates the pre-pay call if the duration meets or exceeds a pre-pay amount indicated by the pre-pay validation parameter. In this manner, integrated service platforms, as required by prior approaches, are no longer required to be connected to the pre-pay call for the entire duration of the pre-pay call. Rather, an integrated service platform can request and receive authorization and call destination information, then be released for use by other calls.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 2003Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.Inventors: Zahid Abbasi, Minh Duy Khuc, Carl Rogers, Isaac Shane Allen, Dan Sbisa

Patent number: 7415302Abstract: A method and system for leading macromolecule substances into target cells includes an image picking unit, an image merging unit, an injection unit, and an energy conversion module. The image picking unit is used for picking up the three-dimensional (3D) and the 3D blood vessel photographic images of the tissue or organ where the target cells locate. The image merging unit is used for merging the 3D structure images into the 3D blood vessel photographic images, therefore choosing a blood vessel passage fully covering the target cells for transmitting the macromolecule substances. The injection unit is used for injecting liquid and transmitting the macromolecule substances to the target cells. The energy conversion module is used for exerting energy to activate the liquid to perform biological effects, thereby forming non-permanent holes in the cell membranes of the target cells. The macromolecule substances enter into the target cells through the non-permanent holes.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2004Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Inventor: Der-Yang Tien

Patent number: 7415303Abstract: An optical scanning and imaging system and related method for scanning and imaging an object is disclosed. The scanning and imaging system does not use mechanically moving components to achieve lateral scanning of an object. Instead, the system includes a deflecting prism comprised of a material having an index of refraction that varies with changes in an applied electromagnetic field and that remains substantially constant with changes in wavelength of incident light within a predetermined wavelength range. An optical fiber transmits light within a predetermined wavelength from a light source through a gradient index lens which sends a collimated beam of light to the prism. Due to the unique properties of the prism, the light is deflected at a substantially constant angle within a lateral scanning plane. An objective lens can be used to further focus the light exiting the prism prior to directing it on the object being imaged.Type: GrantFiled: April 14, 2005Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: Boston Scientific Scimed, Inc.Inventor: Isaac Ostrovsky

Patent number: 7415307Abstract: Methods and process for detection of myocardial ischemia involve detection and analysis of changes in electrical conduction velocity within the heart to monitor changes in the condition of the cardiac muscle and indicate possible ischemia. Conduction velocity slows considerably when oxygen supply to the heart is reduced. Analysis of electrical conduction velocity can be used to verify the occurrence of myocardial ischemia in a more reliable manner. Changes in conduction velocity may be monitored based on conduction time between electrodes positioned in the left and right ventricles of the heart. The electrodes may be endocardial or epicardial electrodes. In general, the techniques may involve launching a stimulation waveform at one electrode and sensing a local cardiac depolarization at another electrode to assess conduction time.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2002Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: Medtronic, Inc.Inventors: Vinod Sharma, Walter H.
