Patent number: 7419212Abstract: Protective strips for use in the manufacture of upholstered furniture include a fastening strip portion, a cover strip portion and a hinge portion which flexibly connects the fastening and cover strip portions to one another. In use, the protective strips may be positioned such that a portion of the upholstery fabric is sandwiched between the fastening strip portion thereof and a portion of the furniture frame to which the fabric is to be attached. Suitable fasteners (e.g., staples, tacks, nails, brads and like fasteners) may then be physically driven through the fastening strip portion and the underlying fabric portion into the furniture frame and thereby fasten the fabric portion physically to the frame. Once the fastening strip portion has been fastened to the furniture frame, the remaining fabric portion may be doubled over the fastened tail portion which in turn causes the cover strip portion to be folded over the fastening strip portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2005Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Inventors: David L. Patent number: 7419216Abstract: The seat back unit has a seat back frame which can be tilted around the tilting axis (11) of the support (21). Movable on the seat back frame (13) is the seat back (25). A linear motor (33) serves to incline the seat back frame (13) together with the seat back (25). With a linear motor (33) the distance between the support (21) and the connecting section (17) of the back frame (13) can be reduced or increased, respectively. A tape (43) extends from a stationary part (45) of the linear motor (33) via the connecting section (17) to the seat back carrier (44). Accordingly, if the seat back frame (13) is tilted towards the rear, the seat back (25) is moved downward together with the arm rests (29) attached to the seat back carrier (44). A stabilizing mechanism (51) keeps the arm rest (29) in a practically horizontal position. Accordingly, on reclining the arms of the user remain always in a practically horizontal position and are finally lowered to a position practically parallel to the body.Type: GrantFiled: October 10, 2006Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Assignee: Degonda Rehab SAInventor: Kurt Hunziker

Patent number: 7419257Abstract: An ink jet recording method and an ink jet recording apparatus permitting image formation with a high degree of color reproducibility while alleviating the influences of the ink-absorbency of the recording medium and the base color is to be provided. A transfer drum is applied a reaction liquid, and inks of different colors are applied by recording heads to the area applied the reaction liquid to form a coagulated ink image on the transfer drum. Ahead of the step to transfer this coagulated ink image to the recording medium, white ink is applied to at least the area of the transfer drum to which ink dots are to be applied or at least the area to which ink dots are to be applied out of the area of the recording medium to which the coagulated ink image is to be transferred.Type: GrantFiled: May 25, 2005Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Akihiro Mouri, Hiroshi Taniuchi

Patent number: 7419258Abstract: A printer includes a first housing and a second housing. The first housing has a driver circuit board mounting an EEPROM storing control information regarding a mechanical module. The second housing is provided with a control circuit board storing a program for controlling the printer. In the printer, when the housings are assembled, the control information is available on the program, the control circuit board controls the mechanical module based on the program. Thus, in this printer, even when a component of the mechanical module has been replaced with a new one, the control circuit board can control the mechanical module smoothly based on the control information after replacement because the control information of the mechanical module is stored on in the EEPROM.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2003Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Assignee: Brother Kogyo Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Atsushi Murakami, Masaaki Hori

Patent number: 7419261Abstract: A method for modifying the shape of a spheric or toric non-corrective lens blank such that astigmatic and peripheral defects are reduced. The outer convex and inner concave sides of the lens are initially designed according to the Gullstrand Formula. Thereafter, a visual axis of the lens is defined relative to a reference axis of the lens blank. In the preferred toric lens, the visual axis of the lens is offset from the reference axis. Once the visual axis is defined, the inner concave surface of the lens is modified so as to improve optical quality in a visual center surrounding the visual axis.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2005Date of Patent: September 2, 2008Assignee: Sperian Eye & Face Protection, Inc.Inventors: Isabelle Dumange, Jean Francios Carraze, Etienne Billard
