Publication number: 20080222869Abstract: An apparatus for expanding metal and forming tubing combines two metal-forming operations into a single process. Tubing, such as that used for filters, is desirably expanded so that air or liquid may pass thru “diamonds” formed in the tubing. Expanding metal and forming tubing is accomplished in a single, continuous process by first slitting and expanding the metal, and then locking its seams to form a spiral pipe. This avoids depending on vendors for delivery of expanded metal at fluctuating prices, eliminates intermediate steps of handling the coils, and eliminates rusting while the expanded steel coils await formation into tubing. Tubing made from expanded metal may be used for air filters, oil filters, water filters, separators and other types of filters. Double-wall HVAC ducting systems or silencers can also use expanded material for reducing heat transfer and noise.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2008Publication date: September 18, 2008Inventor: Wilhelmus P.H. To reduce the production costs for the handheld hacksaw by ensuring a simple design of the guide elements adequate for high-quality sawing, the guide elements (26, 27) have a fixed horizontal spacing of the guide surfaces (261, 271) thereof, perpendicular to the direction of sawing at the ends of the sides (222, 223) of the holder (22).Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2007Publication date: September 18, 2008Inventors: Hans Kaiser, Joachim Schadow, Marcel Casota, Paul Stooss, Daniel Saegesser

Publication number: 20080222902Abstract: A device for storing an implement such as a razor next to an associated container. An endless band of elastomeric material is formed to be stretched and released about the container. A mouth portion formed of the same material is disposed on the periphery of the band for retaining the implement. The mouth portion has a pair of arms spaced apart enough to receive the implement, and a pair of gates each of which is joined at a first end to an outer end of a corresponding arm. Each gate is biased toward a rest position where a second end of the gate opposite its first end confronts the second end of the other gate. The gates deflect inward when the implement is urged horizontally into the mouth portion, and return to their rest position when the implement clears them so that the implement is then stored in the device.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 22, 2008Publication date: September 18, 2008Inventor: William S. Publication number: 20080222903Abstract: An apparatus for determining alignment of a wheel mounted to a vehicle includes a plate, a housing and a light source. The plate has a top surface, a bottom surface, and an outer perimeter. The bottom surface is substantially planar and the outer perimeter includes an engagement portion. The plate is configured such that it may be positioned at least partially within a wheel rim, with the engagement portion and the bottom surface contacting interior circumferential and interior annular surfaces of the wheel rim, respectively, and with the bottom surface substantially perpendicular to the wheel rotational axis. The housing is attached to the top surface of the plate and defines a chamber. The light source is supported at least partially within the chamber and is configured to project light away from the housing. Methods are also provided for manufacturing a vehicle and for inspecting a wheel mounted upon a vehicle.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 15, 2007Publication date: September 18, 2008Inventor: Timothy A. Publication number: 20080222905Abstract: A laser marker capable of emitting laser light with its optimum intensity in accordance with a level of illuminance at any environment where the laser marker is used. The laser marker includes a stand and a cover rotatably provided on the stand. The cover accommodates therein a laser unit that emits laser light outside of the cover through a window formed in the cover. Laser light intensity changing unit is provided, which changes the intensity of the laser light to be emitted from the laser unit in accordance with the illuminance at the environment, the illuminance being detected by a illuminance sensor provided on the cover.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2008Publication date: September 18, 2008Inventors: Takashi NISHIMURA, Junichi SUDOU

Publication number: 20080222906Abstract: This device integrates a “Spirit Level” or “Bubble Level” with a traditional shaving device such as a non-electrically powered shaving razor, or electrically powered razor or trimming device. The integration of a “Spirit Level” or “Bubble Level” with a shaving or trimming device allows for accurate, straight, and level, shaving, cutting, or trimming of facial hair, hair growing from the scalp, or any other hair growing from the body. By using the “Sprit Level” or “Bubble Level” as a guide, the user is able to gauge the exact angle at which he or she is cutting, shaving, or trimming.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2007Publication date: September 18, 2008Inventor: Fraser Lewis Austin

Publication number: 20080222910Abstract: A hand drying apparatus has a casing, a cavity formed in the casing for receiving a user's hands, a fan located in the casing and creating an airflow, and a plurality of openings communication with the fan and arranged to direct an airflow transversely across the cavity. The cavity has an entrance delimited by a front edge and a rear edge in which the openings are located. The shape of the front and rear edges is such that, when in use the user's hands are introduced to the cavity, the distance between the user's hands and the nearest opening is substantially uniform. Alternatively, one of the edges is substantially straight and the other of the said edges is curved so that the distance between the edges varies along the length of the cavity entrance. These arrangements enhance the drying efficiency of the dryer.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 13, 2006Publication date: September 18, 2008Applicant: Dyson Technology LimitedInventors: John Churchill, James Dyson, Peter David Gammack
