Publication number: 20080232971Abstract: The invention refers to a coated turbine blade for a gas turbine, having blade walls divided into sections with locally adapted material temperatures. The cooler material temperatures of the blade walls are at the points where the support ribs merge into the blade walls. The regions with higher material temperatures of the blade walls are at the positions where cavities are arranged inside the blade walls. This is achieved via a ceramic thermal barrier coating having different layer thicknesses that allow different material temperatures. The region of the surface of the blade wall which faces the working medium and lies opposite an internal rib has a thicker thermal barrier coating than a region of the surface of the blade wall which is cooled via a cooling medium that flows in the cavities. This results in homogenization of the material temperature in the connecting regions, which results in prolonged blade life.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 23, 2007Publication date: September 25, 2008Inventors: Fathi Ahmad, Michael Dankert

Publication number: 20080233013Abstract: An upper end 3 of a nozzle tip 2 is adapted to have an inside diameter dimension smaller than an outside diameter of a lower portion of a barrel 4, so that nozzle tips 2 are not piled up. An upper curved surface 11, which is curved in an outer direction of the nozzle tip 2 starting with a boundary portion between the barrel 4 and a leading end opening 5 of the nozzle tip 2 and the leading end opening 5, is formed. A lower curved surface 12 is formed continuously from the upper curved surface 11 to be curved in an inner direction. An angle formed between a line tangent to a boundary portion 13 between the upper curved surface 11 and the lower curved surface 12 and a center axis of the nozzle tip 2 is adapted to fall within a range between 45° and 20°.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2008Publication date: September 25, 2008Inventors: Ichiro SAKAI, Sachio Satoh, Hiroaki Sakai, Junichi Olzumi, Nobuo Suzuki

Publication number: 20080233014Abstract: The disclosed apparatus includes a stator and a rotor disposed for rotation within the stator. An inner wall of the stator defines one or more collider chambers. Rotation of the rotor causes movement of fluid disposed between the rotor and stator and establishes a rotational flow pattern within the collider chambers. The fluid movement induced by the rotor increases the temperature, density, and pressure of the fluid in the collider chamber.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2008Publication date: September 25, 2008Inventor: Kenneth J. Southwick

Publication number: 20080233015Abstract: The invention relates to sealing device for microplates, a method of sealing and a novel use. The sealing device is used for isolating the interior of a biological reaction vessel from the exterior of the reaction vessel and comprises a generally planar sealing layer intimately attachable to the vessel by heating so as to cover an open end of the vessel. According to the invention, the sealing layer is formed of elastomeric material capable of forming a heat-actuated bond to the vessel at an elevated temperature achievable solely by the heated platen of a thermal cycling apparatus operating at normal thermal cycling protocol operating temperatures and placed in contact with the sealing device. The invention provides a simplified device and method for sealing microplates effectively.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2008Publication date: September 25, 2008Applicant: BIOINNOVATIONS OYInventor: Bruce R. Publication number: 20080233016Abstract: A multichannel array structure is provided and a mechanism for establishing a viscous flow within the multichannel array for preventing the flow of particulates (???material) that cause window clouding. A process chamber is provided for confining a process pressure within a process volume with a viewport window along the chamber for viewing at least a portion of the process volume. A ingress port is disposed in the process chamber, and to the process volume, for receiving a flow of process gas in the process volume and an egress port is disposed, and in the process chamber, to the process volume for extracting a flow rate of gas from the process volume. A multichannel array (MCA) is disposed between the viewport window and the process volume of the process chamber. The MCA has a plurality of channels, each of the channels having a diameter and a length. A window chamber is defined between the viewport window and MCA with a chamber window port for receiving gas into the chamber volume.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 21, 2007Publication date: September 25, 2008Inventor: Kenneth C.
