  • Patent number: 7437892
Abstract: One or more sheets, e.g. two glass sheets heated to their deformation temperature are shaped by positioning the sheets on a sheet supporting surface of an outline mold. The outline mold and press face of a shaping member are moved relative to one another to bias the marginal edge portions of the upper sheet against the press face to establish an enclosure around the peripheral edges of the sheets. Vacuum is applied to the peripheral edges of the sheets to pull the air from between the sheets, and from between the press face and adjacent sheet surface as positive or atmospheric pressure is applied to bottom sheet to move the sheets against the press face. Optionally a vacuum can be pulled through passageways in the press face during the shaping of the sheets and pressurized air moved through the passageways after the sheets are shaped to move the sheets away from the press face.

  • Patent number: 7437893
Abstract: This invention provides a method for manufacturing an optical glass in order to prevent the deterioration of the burner used in the synthesis of glass particles that form the optical glass, and to obtain a stable quality optical glass. In this invention, the number of residual bubbles with a diameter of 0.3 mm and more is 0.005/cm3 or less per unit volume of the optical glass. Such optical glass is obtained by controlling the temperature of an end face of the burner for glass synthesis during the deposition of the glass particles by regulating the relationship of the flow velocity or the flow volume between an inflammable gas and a combustion-supporting gas.

  • Patent number: 7437894
Abstract: A break-away mount for mounting a fabric scanner to the central support shaft in a circular knitting machine. The mount normally fixes the scanner in a stationary position on the end of a mounting arm of the mount, but if sufficient force is exerted on the scanner in the direction of movement of the fabric, the mount breaks away and allows the scanner to rotate about the support shaft so that the scanner can move along with the fabric. If the amount of such rotational movement exceeds a predefined value, then the break-away mount also releases the mounting arm so that the mounting arm can pivot about a non-vertical axis to allow the scanner to descend with the descending fabric tube. By detecting the breaking away of the mount, the knitting machine can be stopped in time to prevent damage to the scanner and mount.

  • Patent number: 7437910
Abstract: An object of the invention is to provide a pressure differentiator capable of improving measurement accuracy. The pressure differentiator of the invention includes an isothermal pressure vessel 1, a narrow tube 3 for connecting an object to be measured to the inside of the vessel 1, and a differential manometer 2 for calculating a differential pressure between the object and the inside of the vessel 1. It is preferable that a flow through the narrow tube 3 during measurement is a laminar flow. The isothermal pressure vessel 1 is fitted with a temperature equalizing material. As the temperature equalizing material, thin metal wires may be used. When the pressure Ps to be measured within a vessel positioned below is changed, the pressure Pc within the isothermal pressure vessel 1 is changed, with a slight lag, through the narrow tube 3. By measuring the differential pressure Pj (=Ps?Pc) at that time, using a diaphragm-type pressure differentiator, the derivative value of the pressure Ps may be calculated.

  • Patent number: 7437922
Abstract: A method for monitoring the operational condition of a tire equipping a vehicle, includes: producing, over time, representative samples of successive values assumed by a changing physical quantity, under otherwise equal conditions, with respect to the number of moles of gaseous fluid present in this tire, exploiting these samples in order to deduce from them an estimated condition of the tire, comparing it to a range of normal driving conditions, and producing an alarm in the case where the estimated condition of the tire is situated outside the range of these normal conditions. The step of exploiting the sample includes comparing the value of an indicator of dispersion of the physical quantity, such as the variance of this quantity, to a predetermined threshold value (L).

  • Patent number: 7437925
Abstract: A flow detecting device is provided to a fluid passage through which a main flow of fluid passes. A sensor body has a bypass passage through which a bypass flow passes from the main flow. The bypass passage has a bent portion, which is located midway through the bypass passage, and an outflow passage, which is located downstream of the bent portion. The flow direction of the bypass flow changes at the bent portion toward the outflow passage through the bypass passage. A heating element is arranged in the bypass passage. The heating element generates heat by being supplied with electricity for detecting a flow amount of fluid. The sensor body has a side surface defining an opening through which dynamic pressure caused by counterflow is released to an outside of the outflow passage when fluid causes counterflow in the fluid passage in a direction opposite to a flow direction of the main flow.

  • Patent number: 7437926
Abstract: An air flow rate measuring device is provided in which a pressure loss across a grid therein due to the load which is generated when a hose band is tightened is reduced and deterioration of its measurement accuracy due to the grid deformation is prevented. The grid is configured to have a grid portion which absorbs deformation at the outer periphery thereof, and another grid portion which does not absorb deformation at the inner periphery thereof. In order to make the grid portions independent of each other, the grid is provided with a frame, and the mesh grid inside of the frame which maintains a rectifying effect, prevents the deterioration of the measurement accuracy, and does not absorb deformation, and the grid outside of the frame absorbs deformation.
