  • Patent number: 7452154
Abstract: A universal joint component is used for connecting two members, such as a reflector and a lamp body. The universal joint component includes a shaft, an installation section formed on one end of the shaft, and a spherical head formed on the other end of the shaft. The spherical head includes a joint base, a top end, and at least one gap formed on a side of the spherical head between the top end and the joining base. The gap is formed of a groove or through hole so as to straddle a phantom line substantially passing through a center of the spherical head and perpendicularly intersecting a shaft axis of the shaft. Split head sections are defined by the at least one gap so that the split head sections flexibly deform when the spherical head is inserted into a spherical socket.

  • Patent number: 7452156
Abstract: Composite structural members are provided including a fitting and a tubular shaft. The fitting has a coupling region defining at least one recessed portion bounded by one or more non-recessed portions. The recessed portion may extend circumferentially around the fitting to form a neck. The tubular shaft has a mating region and defines a lumen in which the fitting is disposed. The mating region of the shaft mates with the coupling region of the fitting to create interference between the shaft and fitting. Adhesive may be disposed between the mating region of the fitting and the coupling region of the shaft. The mating region of the shaft may be partially and proximately surrounded by a reinforcing member, and a sleeve may be coupled substantially concentrically to the shaft for discouraging separation of the reinforcing member and the mating region of the shaft. In some cases, adhesive is disposed between the reinforcing member and sleeve.

  • Patent number: 7452160
Abstract: An environmental protective electrical power generating system is formed by a penstock connected at its opposite ends to a large sewer for conveying waste water from feeder pipelines to a sanitary treatment station. Sewer waste water is propelled through the sewer line by pumping equipment which simultaneously pulverizes most large objects carried by the waste water. The waste water is diverted, through a control gate, into the penstock where it flows through and operates one or more water-operated turbines. The turbines are operatively connected to electrical power generators for producing electrical power and dispersing the power through an electrical power transmission system. Depending upon the size of the sewer pipes, the volume of liquid flowing there-through, and the turbine and generator equipment, electrical power is generated without affecting the environment or ecology and without the use of fossil fuels.

  • Patent number: 7452162
Abstract: A method and system for attaching a TLP to its tendons using pull-down lines to rapidly submerge the hull to installation draft while compensating for inherent hull instability during submergence and to provide motion arrest and aid in station keeping. The system includes tensioning devices mounted on the TLP, usually one for each tendon. Each tensioning device is equipped with a pull-down line which is connected to the corresponding tendon. The TLP hull is submerged to lock-off draft by applying tensions to the pull-down lines connected to the top of the tensions, or by a combination of applying tensions to the pull-down lines and ballasting the hull. As the tensioners take in pull-down line, the hull submerges, i.e. the draft increases.
