  • Patent number: 7452169
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool and method for cutting a shape in a workpiece. The rotary cutting tool includes a shank portion, a cutting portion, a bearing connected to one end of the cutting portion, and a rub collar attached to the periphery of the bearing. The outer diameter of the rub collar is selected to be larger than the diameter of the cutting portion. The rotary cutting tool is used to cut a workpiece, such as decorative plastic laminate, to the approximate shape of the substrate, such as a counter top, to which it will be mounted. The larger diameter rub collar allows the workpiece to be cut larger than the dimensions of the substrate in order to reduce the level of skill and amount of labor required for the cutting operation and subsequent placement of the workpiece onto the substrate.

  • Patent number: 7452177
Abstract: A parallel support member is constituted by a pair of links that are respectively arranged on the left and right sides of a second boom. These links are connected between a first boom and a third boom. Thus, the second boom is moved to the left or right side by an offset cylinder. In this case, when one of the links pulls the third boom, the third boom, an arm, and a bucket can be moved toward the left or right side of a vehicle body to be parallel to the first boom. At this time, the links accept a force exerted in the pulling direction, but need not receive a force exerted in the compression direction, so that the cross sectional areas, the weights of these links can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7452182
Abstract: Aspects of the invention relate to a modular turbine vane assembly. The vane assembly includes an airfoil portion, an outer shroud and an inner shroud. The airfoil portion can be made of at least two segments. Preferably, the components are connected together so as to permit assembly and disassembly of the vane. Thus, in the event of damage to the vane, repair involves the replacement of only the damaged subcomponents as opposed to the entire vane. The modular design facilitates the use of various materials in the vane, including materials that are dissimilar. Thus, suitable materials can be selected to optimize component life, cooling air usage, aerodynamic performance, and cost. Because the vane is an assemblage of smaller sub-components as opposed to one unitary structure, the individual components of the vane can be more easily manufactured and more intricate features can be included.

  • Patent number: 7452186
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved cooling circuit for a trailing edge of a turbine blade. The cooling circuit includes an inlet passage that receives a airflow and distributes the airflow through a feed passage. The feed passage primarily includes trip strips, at least one barrier including cross-over holes, teardrop shaped protrusions, and pockets disposed along a trailing edge. The geometry and positioning of both the cross-over holes and teardrop shaped protrusions downstream of the cross-over holes have been optimized to maximize cooling efficiency and reduce airflow. An improved transition between the inlet passage and the feed passage is also provided, which is arcuate and allows the airflow to maintain attachment and flow unimpeded from the inlet passage to the feed passage. The geometry of the pockets disposed along the trailing edge is optimized to improve cooling.

  • Patent number: 7452190
Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining the operating condition of a medical pump based on data derived from a pressure sensor and a position sensor. The pressure sensor generates pressure data by sensing the force on the pumping element. The position sensor generates position data by tracking the pumping cycle and determining the position of the pumping element. The pump pressure data and pump position data are processed and the calculated results compared with a pre-determined threshold value to determine the operating condition of the pump. The three main types of operating conditions of concern are the following: normal condition, where liquid is present and no leaks exist in pumping chamber; leak condition, where liquid is present but a leak exists in the pumping chamber; and air stroke condition, where the chamber contains some air.

  • Patent number: 7452192
Abstract: To provide a control valve for a variable displacement compressor using a diaphragm for a pressure-sensing section, which is capable of sensing suction pressure as absolute pressure. A core, a first plunger, and a spring of a solenoid are accommodated in a bottomed sleeve. A diaphragm is welded to an open end of the bottomed sleeve under vacuum atmosphere, whereby an assembly having a vacuum inside is formed. • Patent number: 7452198
Abstract: A controller for an injection molding machine capable of reducing an extension of a cycle time in a screw retreat process after the end of measurement, obtaining a more accurate and uniform measured resin amount, and determining measurement conditions in a short period of time. After the measurement is finished, the screw is stopped from rotating and retreated at a first speed V1. The screw is reversely rotated at a predetermined speed Rv in a set zone. As this is done, the screw is retreated at a second speed V2 lower than the first speed V1. After the reverse rotation zone is terminated, the screw is stopped from rotating and retreated at a third speed V3 to a set retreat stop position. By doing this, the cycle time can be made shorter than in the case where the retreat and reverse rotation of the screw are performed separately. Since the retreating speed of the screw is low while the screw is being reversely rotated, a sudden pressure change can be suppressed, so that precise measurement can be made.

  • Patent number: 7452207
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and devices for determining an axis of upper and lower jaw articulation of a patient and modeling jaw movement about such an axis, particularly with the use of computerized visual images. The methods comprise providing digital data sets of tooth and bite configuration information which may be used to determine an estimated condylar axis of rotation for a patient. A number of data sets may be acquired and utilized for such estimations. Data sets may be obtained with the use of bite registers. Such registers may be formed by a number of methods and device designs of the present invention. The resulting digital data sets and axis of articulation may then be utilized to generate animated visual images of a patient's jaws in various bite configurations throughout a given rotation around the determined axis.
