Abstract: Irregular volumes within one or more three-dimensional volume datasets are identified and extracted in response to criteria. The processing involves automatically finding a seed voxel or seed cell that0 meets the criteria and thus belongs to an irregular volume of interest, and then identifying cells related to the seed cell by one or more predetermined relationships that are therefore also to be grouped into that irregular volume. Information, which can be of any suitable type, identifying each such cell as being related to other cells and belonging to an irregular volume is stored in a suitable data structure. The location or similar neighborhood information and other data describing properties or attributes of the identified cell are also stored. Because the irregular volumes are extracted and pre-processed in this manner, operations including rendering them on a display and performing Boolean and arithmetic operations on them can readily be performed.

Abstract: Complex labyrinth curves are interactively generated by an iterative process that spatially modulates curve evolution by an image or other function defined on the evolution space. After curves and evolution parameters are initialized [100], the iterative process allows the curve and evolution parameters to be interactively modified by a user [102], resamples the curves [104], and spatially modulates the curves according to the evolution parameters [106]. The evolved labyrinth curves are may be processed [110] for use in various applications including animation, maze creation, intricate artistic patterns, and graphical user interfaces that map linearly ordered data to the evolved curve and allow the data to be navigated using the rendered curve. The evolved curves can also be triangulated and projected to a plane to create patterns for manufacturing developable surfaces.

Abstract: Variable motion blur is created by varying the evaluation time used to determine the poses of objects according to motion blur parameters when evaluating a blur frame. A blur parameter can be associated with one or more objects, portions of objects, or animation variables. The animation system modifies the time of the blur frame by a function including the blur parameter to determine poses of objects or portions thereof associated with the blur parameter in a blur frame. The animation system determines the values of animation variables at their modified times, rather than at the time of the blur frame, and poses objects or portions thereof accordingly. Multiple blur parameters can be used to evaluate the poses of different portions of a scene at different times for a blur frame. Portions of an object can be associated with different blur parameters, enabling motion blur to be varied within an object.

Abstract: The present invention deforms hairs from a reference pose based on one or more of the following: magnet position and/or orientation; local reference space position (e.g., a character's head or scalp); and several profile curves and variables. In one embodiment, after an initial deformation is determined, it is refined in order to simulate collisions, control hair length, and reduce the likelihood of hairs penetrating the surface model. The deformed hairs can be rendered to create a frame. This procedure can be performed multiple times, using different inputs, to create different hair deformations. These different inputs can be generated based on interpolations of existing inputs. Frames created using these deformations can then be displayed in sequence to produce an animation. The invention can be used to animate any tubular or cylindrical structure protruding from a surface.

The screen generator generates image data of a test screen. The flicker measuring part measures flicker on the test screen displayed on a display panel to which a common voltage corresponding to an estimated setting value is applied. The main controller calculates a measured flicker index from the measured flicker and compares the measured flicker index with a predetermined threshold value to determine a setting value corresponding to a flicker index of a plurality of calculated flicker indexes that is less than the threshold value. The ROM programming part writes the determined setting value to a ROM of a display module. Therefore, a common voltage is reestablished by the setting value, thus preventing flicker due to process variations.

The image forming device forms an image based on the drop size symbol by determining the drop size symbol and then either selecting a marking fluid look-up table based on the drop size symbol, or forming an image correction factor based on the drop size symbol.

Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide an ink jet printing apparatus that inhibits the temperature of a print head from increasing excessively while preventing significant density or hue unevenness from occurring in images, without the need for a complicated structure or complicated control. Thus, the present invention detects temperature of the print head, and sets number of scans in which the print head is to stand by until start of scanning and a standby time for each of the set number of scans by the print head, on the basis of the detected temperature.

Abstract: A liquid ejecting head unit includes head main bodies capable of ejecting liquid droplets from nozzle openings by applying pressure to liquid inside pressure generating chambers communicated with the nozzle openings. Liquid flow paths that are formed for the head main bodies connect the nozzle openings including the pressure generating chambers and storage members that store liquid to be supplied to the pressure generating chambers. Heating members are disposed in the vicinity of the liquid flow paths and heat the liquid flowing through the liquid flow paths. A control unit controls the heating members. Temperature detecting units detect temperatures of the liquid flowing through the liquid flow paths.

The method includes providing a test head in which nozzle chips are mounted, printing ejection patterns on a printing medium according to various ejection timings of the nozzle chips by controlling the test head, classifying the nozzle chips into groups according to the ejection patterns, and assembling the nozzle chips that are classified in the same group having the same ejection pattern on the array type inkjet head. Since the array type inkjet head is manufactured by grouping together the nozzle chips having the same ejection pattern, poor printing results can be prevented.

A belt is mounted on the chassis with a contact surface for sealing engagement with a printhead of the printer. The chassis and thus the belt are reciprocally movable between a first position in which the contact surface is engaged with the printhead and a second position in which the printhead is disengaged from the printhead. A pair of spools are mounted on the chassis. The belt is mounted about the spools, with one of the spools being a toothed drive spool and the other being an idler spool. A drive motor is mounted on the chassis. A drive gear driven by the motor is engaged with the drive spool so that the motor can drive the belt. Abstract: An apparatus (30, 40, 50) and a method of ink jet printing arc disclosed that use a system for feeding a substrate longitudinally relative to a support area and a system for moving a printhead parallel to the direction of substrate feed. Indexing between transverse scan rows of a printhead (20) is carried out initially by the substrate feed system (16) and the actual feed distance is measured using an encoder or other substrate position measurement device (26). A controller (25) determines the amount of any error that occurs between the actual and the desired feed distances. The controller (25) then sends signals to move the printhead (20) to compensate for any error in the feed system feed. Compensating adjustments are then made to the next subsequent substrate indexing step so that the printhead tends to move back toward its home or zeroed position with its next correction and does not walk away from this home position as a result of cumulative movements.
