  • Patent number: 7471916
Abstract: In a developer-storing container of the present invention, an agitation blade used in a toner-storing section and an agitation blade used in a waste-toner-storing section are coupled by a rotor. The rotor is interdigitated to a bearing mounted on a partition wall. The partition wall is made to be a fixed wall so that precision of interdigitation of the agitation blade of the toner-storing section, the rotor, and the agitation blade of the waste-toner-storing section is improved. Consequently, a developer-storing container that is easy to assemble and in which precision of interdigitation is high is realized.

  • Patent number: 7471928
Abstract: The invention involves selection of modulation scheme for a mobile unit (100) having access to a link quality enhancing algorithm (130) operable only on data modulated using a subset of the available modulation schemes. The mobile unit (100) performs signal quality measurements on a communications link (410), over which data modulated with a first modulation scheme is communicated. A link quality measure is then determined for this first modulation. A quality enhancement due to operation of the algorithm (130) is also determined. This quality measure and the quality enhancement are used for generating decision information, which is reported to the network (200). There the information is used for estimating link quality measure(s) of currently non-employed modulation(s) for the mobile unit (100). The selection of a modulation scheme for the communications link is then performed based on the decision information and the estimated quality measure(s).

  • Patent number: 7471937
Abstract: A system and method for inverting automatic frequency control applied to a reference signal used to process an input signal is disclosed. When receiving an input communication signal, a receiver controls the frequency of the reference signal to compensate for frequency differences between a transmitter and a local oscillator in the receiver. The frequency control applied to the reference signal causes frequency variations in a resultant processed signal when the input signal is processed using the reference signal. The frequency of a second reference signal is controlled such that further processing of the resultant processed signal removed effects of the frequency control applied to the reference signal. The processing which applies frequency control to the reference signal is performed in real time while the inversion process is performed in a separate processing section.

  • Patent number: 7471950
Abstract: Base station controlled vertical handoff is disclosed. When a hybrid access terminal is operating under a first air interface protocol (e.g., IS-2000), in a mode (e.g., active) in which the terminal does not search for the presence of wireless service under a second air interface protocol (e.g., IS-856), the terminal sends a request to a base station seeking to hand off to a wireless coverage area under the protocol. The base station then determines (e.g., by reference to the PN offset specified in the request) that the target coverage area additionally provides service under the second protocol. Responsively, the base station causes the terminal to transition to a second mode (e.g., dormant) in which the terminal does search for the presence of service under the second protocol. The terminal may thereby discover the presence of service under the second protocol and may hand off to operate under the second protocol.

  • Patent number: 7471954
Abstract: A method of estimating a location of a WLAN-enabled user-device in a WLAN-based positioning system is provided. The WLAN-enabled device receives signals transmitted by WLAN-enabled access points in range of the WLAN-enabled user-device so that observed WLAN-enabled access points identify themselves. The method includes accessing a master database that associates WLAN-enabled access points with corresponding audited locations as determined by an audit of a relatively large geographic area and obtaining location information for any identified WLAN-enabled access point. The method includes accessing a supplemental database to obtain inferred location information corresponding to any identified WLAN-enabled access point. The supplemental database has a relatively small set of WLAN-enabled access points and corresponding inferred locations. The inferred locations are inferred based on input by a user of the WLAN-based positioning system.

  • Patent number: 7471956
Abstract: A method for determining the location of an improved carrier signal emitted by a base station relative to the position of a communication device, the carrier signal having a signal strength, and the communication device having access to a digital map. A determination is made to determine the signal strength of the carrier signal at the current location of the communication device; locating an adjacent location on the digital map and determining the signal strength at the adjacent location; and in response to a greater signal strength being determined at the adjacent location, displaying the direction of the position of the adjacent location on the communication device.

  • Patent number: 7471957
Abstract: The present invention relates to a paging method and system for a radio access network which provides access to a core network, said system comprising a central network controlling device (100) for receiving pagings and for distributing said pagings to other network controlling devices (5) based on a paging information provided to said central network controlling device. Accordingly, while the access network comprises many RNCs and/or RNASs, the information required for paging or mobility management is provided at one place in one location or routing area. Thus, when the core network sends a paging request, the request does not have to be transmitted to many RNCs and/or RNASs and extra paging can be avoided in the access networks. Moreover, a paging coordination is possible despite of the number of different core networks.

  • Patent number: 7471959
Abstract: An efficient way to communicate with a mobile handset for testing and debugging is described. The communication process can also be used to make updates to the mobile handset. Data from a mobile handset can be analyzed. This data may include, for example, information relating to the performance of the mobile handset or information related to errors that have occurred on the mobile handset. Additionally, data relating to battery performance, performance statistics, error logs, standby and talk time may also be analyzed. A request is encoded and transmitted to a mobile handset. The encoded request is received at the mobile handset and a message responsive to the encoded request is transmitted. The encoded response is received and decoded. The encoded messages, both the encoded request and the message responsive to the request are communicated as a text message.
