  • Patent number: 7493676
Abstract: Hook structures for use in hook and loop or hook and engagement material fastening applications. Structures according to embodiments of the invention include hooks which extend from bases which in turn extend from a foundation and also extend laterally across the structures. The bases are separated by valleys which also extend laterally across the structures, whose height can be uniform laterally in the structures or varied. The bases provide suitable strength and support to allow the hooks to be robust and strong for permanent or semi-permanent fastening applications, while the valleys interposed between bases allow the hooks to penetrate sufficiently deeply into the engagement material for effective fastening to occur. Such structures may be formed according to processes which physically or conceptually employ various layers to support hooks, retention barrier members such as fingers interposed laterally between hooks, and/or for spacing such hooks and barriers as desired.

The openings have a pair of slits defining flaps deflectable to permit the rivet to pass therethrough, and a central hole or cut-out. The flaps and the cut-out assist in centering the rivet with the belt fastener rivet holes. The system uses a single-rivet driver, a multi-rivet driver, a pneumatic driver, or an electric hammer.

  • Patent number: 7493683
Abstract: A suspended automobile disassembly line that does not utilize any hydraulically operated equipment is provided. The disassembly line utilizes a plurality of electrically operated lift system to stabilize and suspend an automobile while at various stages of disassembly. Since the automobile is suspended throughout the disassembly line, human handling is reduced and efficiency of the disassembly process is improved. The lift system includes a plurality of grabber arms that provide a wide range of motion adapted to move and tilt a vehicle into various positions during disassembly.

  • Patent number: 7493684
Abstract: Aircraft loading apparatus includes a frame removably attachable to an aircraft (e.g., a helicopter). The frame is constructed for assembly and disassembly in a transitional position and includes a pair of raising and lowering mechanisms. The mechanisms include a pair of belts with free ends attachable to form a sling and connected for simultaneous extension or retraction of equal lengths of each belt. In operation, the frame is attached to the aircraft adjacent an area at which an article (e.g. an auxiliary fuel tank) is to be connected. The article is positioned under the frame and the belts are extended to form a sling around the article. The mechanisms are activated to simultaneously retract equal lengths of each belt to raise the article into a connecting position, the article is connected, and the frame is disassembled into a removable configuration and removed from the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 7493686
Abstract: A method of thermally joining plastic eavestrough allows plastic eavestrough systems to be considered in more applications including traditional aluminum eavestrough systems where long lengths of continuous eavestroughs are desired. The method allows end to end joining of plastic eavestrough with a thermal joint therebetween or an angled connection with a thermal joint therebetween. This allows plastic eavestrough systems to be customized on site for improved performance and appearance. Thermally joined plastic eavestrough sections either aligned in an end to end or angled connection are possible.
