Abstract: A tension compensation assembly for a mechanical control cable. The tension compensation device has a housing with opposing ends. First and second sections of the control cable pass through but are attached at each end of the housing such that the sheaths of each section are coupled to the housing and reciprocable cable coaxially disposed in each control cable section extend into the housing. The cables are attached to opposing ends of a reciprocably disposed capsule or spring caps generally enclosing a spring. In operation, the capsule moves slidably within the housing over a predetermined travel and tension for the cables. However, if an over-tension condition is experienced, the capsule may bottom out at an end of the housing and the spring will either compress or extend, depending upon its design, thus allowing the effective length of the control cable assembly to increase, thus preventing the stretching or breaking of the cables or damage to cable end fittings.

Abstract: A manually operable ratchet mechanism includes a pinion assembly comprised of a handle connected to a shaft. The handle and shaft are mounted on a housing to allow the shaft to be rotated as a consequence of a user manually rotating the handle. The shaft carries a pinion configured to engage a toothed rack to incrementally move the rack in discrete steps relative to the housing. Additionally, a rotatable detent member is provided which rotates with the shaft as the handle is rotated. The rotatable detent member cooperates with a fixed detent member on the housing to define discrete detent positions which provide discrete step tactile feedback to the user. The handle is mounted for (1) axial rotation with respect to the shaft axis and additionally for (2) pivotal movement between locked and unlocked positions around a pivot axis oriented substantially perpendicular to the shaft axis. In the unlocked position, the shaft and rotatable detent member can rotate relative to the housing as the handle is turned.

Abstract: A cam and cam follower apparatus translates linear cam bar movement to perpendicular valve stem actuation in an injection molding system. The cam bars reciprocate up and down on linear bearing rails such that an actuation plate, fitted with a plurality of valve stems, is cycled normal to the direction of the cam bar movement via cam followers traveling within cam slots in the cam bars. The cam slots in the cam bars are profiled such that the cam followers affect the speed and force at which the valve stems travel while at the same time reducing frictional effects and their associated power requirement. The cam followers of the valve stem actuation plate travel in cam slots in the cam bars from a valve stem forward position, to a valve stem retracted position and ultimately, the entire actuation plate may be removed from the cam bars for maintenance via open ended slots in the cam bars.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for manufacturing high-purity hydrogen storage alloy Mg2Ni applicable to industry and capable of manufacturing continuously. First, raw materials of magnesium-nickel with weight percentage of nickel between 23.5 and 50.2 are heated, melt, and mixed uniformly. Cool the magnesium-nickel liquid and control the temperature to be above the solidification temperature and below the liquification temperature in the phase diagram of magnesium-nickel. By making advantage of segregation principle in phase diagrams, solid-state high-purity ?-phase Mg2Ni hydrogen storage alloy is given. The residual waste magnesium-rich liquid in the crucible is poured to another independent crucible, and switch with the position of the crucible originally containing the ?-phase Mg2Ni hydrogen storage alloy. Then, new raw materials of magnesium and nickel are added and heated. Repeat the smelt steps described above continuously, and a continuous manufacturing method is introduced.

Abstract: A method for improving die-cutting involving first creating a back plate footprint, possessing impressions of the imperfections found in the cutting surface of a die-cutting machine. This method provides die-cutters a simple, inexpensive way to dramatically improve the alignment of die-cutting knives for making cuts. The method uses a malleable material that will readily receive an impression of imperfections of a cutting surface when some pressure is provided, but the material must also be capable of hardening into a useable solid material. The principles of this method may be applied to all die-cutting machines by making a back plate footprint of the die-cutter in question and by properly inserting it back into the chase where the impressions contained therein will press down on the material below it so as to better align the cutting knives of the die being used.

The negative half period measuring ends when the input signal value becomes greater than the positive trigger value. Abstract: An electronic musical instrument for producing musical notes comprises an onset signal sensor for sensing the initiation of a note played on the musical instrument. An electronic fingerboard determines the pitch of the note sensed by the sensor. The electronic fingerboard comprises a first layer of film, a second layer of film and a spacer member between the first and second layers of film. The first and second layers are movable relative to each other between a first inactive position in which the first and second layers are separate from each other along their respective lengths and a second active position in which the first and second layers are in contact with each other at a user selected point along their respective lengths. The pitch is determined by the resistance between the first and second layers at the user selected point.

Abstract: A keyboard apparatus 100 includes plural keys 10 and 11, electronic actuators 40, reflection plates 51, and optical sensors 52. Each of the plural keys 10 and 11 extends in the longitudinal direction, and pivots in the vertical direction about a support in accordance with the key depression and key release. Each of the plural electronic actuators 40 has a movable member 41 that displaces in the vertical direction in interlocking with the pivot movement of each of the keys 10 and 11 so as to apply a reaction force against the operation of depressing the keys 10 and 11. Each of the plural reflection plates 51 is fixed to the movable member 41 of the electronic actuator 40, wherein the reflection surface thereof faces in the lateral direction of each of the keys 10 and 11. The light reflectance of each of the reflection plates 51 changes along the displacing direction of the movable member 41.

The pitch attitude of the store is adjustable to correspond to a flight condition of the aircraft at time of store release. The aircraft has a flight computer that provides store release pitch data corresponding to the aircraft flight conditions. The store ejector includes an orificing assembly that varies the flow of pressurized gas to the ejector pistons by translating a mandrel within a bore formed in the orificing assembly. Orifices within the bore are adjusted to apportion the flow of pressurized gas to the ejector pistons in accordance with an optimum orifice setting corresponding to the desired pitch attitude of the store for the given flight condition.

Abstract: The present invention generally pertains to hydro-mechanical transmission using fixed displacement motors and pumps in conjunction with two or more mechanical differentials to accomplish continuously variable transfer ratio change and a means to seek the operating point of peak efficiency. In addition a hydraulic transmission is described that uses only one differential. In addition, an all-mechanical by-pass feature is included to allow the operation of road vehicles at high speed for extended periods at high efficiency. A means is described to provide for mechanical stability under all operating conditions. One intended application is a hydraulic transmission system for vehicles using hydraulic regenerative braking. The all mechanical by-pass allows operation in an “overdrive” and “free-wheeling” mode.

Abstract: A mechanism transforms a longitudinal reciprocation movement of a piston in a cylinder into a combined unidirectional rotation and reciprocating movement of the piston. In order to achieve this transformation the piston includes a closed wave shaped groove on its circumference. The closed wave shaped groove has recesses at its apexes. The recesses break the symmetry of the groove. Balls that are located in the cylinder protrude into the groove. When the piston is reciprocating, the groove slides on the balls. A flexible heat shrink ring secures the balls in place and assures that the balls are constantly biased toward the face of the groove.

The conduit extends into a housing and where the second end of the conduit resides at a location in the housing that is above the surface of the body of oxygen-rich water. A vacuum is applied to a spatial region defined within the housing above the location of the second end of the conduit. The oxygen-rich water is pumped through the conduit and exits the second end of the conduit to enter the spatial region of the housing. The oxygen-rich water descends through the housing due to gravity. The oxygen-rich water's descension is interrupted and the vacuum operates to remove oxygen from the oxygen-rich water so-descending to generate oxygen-depleted water.
