By such a configuration, even when there is an erroneous operation of the brake or incorrect setting, it is possible to prevent damage and breakage of constituent parts and have a simple structure.

    Abstract: A composite pipe has a metal conduit sandwiched between inner and outer conduits of PVC/CPVC, each of which are adhesively secured to the interlaying metal conduit with a dried, solvent-free thin layer of a thermosetting bilayer adhesive which provides a bond with the metal, which bond fails in cohesive failure. Narrowly defined limits on the thickness of each conduit are found to provide a bendable composite pipe with an aluminum interlayer; and to provide a rigid non-bendable composite pipe with a steel interlayer. Making the composite pipe which meets required ASTM and NSF test considerations requires unexpectedly critical process steps. A process for making the pipe is disclosed, as are PVC/CPVC fittings which allow lengths of pipe to be solvent-cemented in them so as to seal the terminal ends of the pipe against infusion of fluid under pressure in the pipe, thus preventing delaminaton.

    Abstract: The invention provides a method and apparatus for optimally feeding an ASA emulsion into a papermaking process. An intense transmission of ultrasonic energy rapidly and efficiently forms an ASA emulsion. Nearly simultaneous to forming the emulsion, the emulsion is fed into a high-speed dual conduit feeding apparatus, which quickly mixes the ASA emulsion with other chemicals and feeds the mixture directly into a papermaking process. The invention operates so fast that virtually no hydrolysis of the ASA occurs. This both prevents damage to the papermaking machinery and improves the quality of the produced paper. The invention operates 10-20 times faster than mechanical based emulsion methods and requires 1/7 as much energy to operate. The invention also self-monitors the process and can automatically correct any detected problems with the fed ASA emulsion.

    Abstract: A bath waste assembly is that unit that occupies the lowest point in a vessel or tray used for bathing and drains away water to a sewage system, often in concert with an overflow waste drain. The horizontal portion of the waste water assembly terminates in a P-trap that separates the assembly from the rest of the drain and sewer apparatus. The horizontal pipe running from the bath drain hole to the fitting leading to the P-trap can become nearly as hot as the hot water originally entering the vessel, particularly when the bath is being used as a shower vessel. Replacement of this pipe with a copper waste water pipe wrapped with narrower copper pipe through which cold supply water runs, absorbing heat on its way to a thermostatic control valve, allows the amount of hot water balancing this cold water to be decreased automatically since the temperature of the cold water has been increased.
