If it is the starting period, an actual shift position that is detected from an output of an output shaft sensor for detecting a rotation position of a motor is set as an instructed shift position. With this measure, even if the control unit is reset for a certain reason while the vehicle is running, the instructed shift position is not changed in association with the resetting. This prevents trouble that the shift position is switched contrary to the intention of the driver, whereby the reliability of a position switching control can be increased.

The tool assembly (10) includes a generally C-shaped body (14) having a screw shaft (24) threaded through a boss (22) in a lower section (18) thereof. An anti-rotation stem (38) includes a knurled flat face (40) which increases versatility of the tool assembly (10) by enabling anti-slip operation with various vehicle types. A counter-torque tool perch (46) extends from the lower section (18) of the tool body (14) for applying a counter-rotational torque to the body (14) during use of the tool assembly (10).

Abstract: A tool unit for a cutting device includes a rotary blade, a blade case for covering at least a part of the blade case, and a drive device mounted to the blade case for rotatably driving the rotary blade. A handle is attached to the drive device. The blade case has a front support portion. The handle has a rear support portion. When the tool unit is used for a portable cutting device, the front support portion can be vertically pivotally supported by a front portion of the base, and the rear support portion can be supported by a guide member such that a position of the rear support portion can be changed relative to the guide member for enabling adjustment of a cutting depth of the rotary blade into the workpiece. When the tool unit is used for a table cutting device, the front support portion can be vertically pivotally supported by the table.

Abstract: An automatic rail saw includes a frame adapted to be lowered onto a railroad rail by a crane. A lower end of the frame includes a channel for receiving the rail. A releasable clamp mechanism on the frame is operable to clamp the rail in the channel. A saw blade is mounted on the frame for rotation about a rotational axis and for linear movement along a cutting path extending through the channel for cutting of the rail with said blade. The blade is driven by a blade motor and moved along the cutting path by a drive motor. A control system adjusts the rate at which the saw blade moves along the cutting path based on measured parameters such as blade speed, current draw of the drive motor and hydraulic pressure at the drive motor.

Abstract: A modular spring retainer and method for metal forming dies includes a base shaped for detachable connection with an associated die plate, having a threaded central aperture, and an adjacent lock dowel aperture which extends through the threaded central aperture to form a window. A cylindrically-shaped spring retainer is configured to receive a spring therein, and has a threaded exterior portion which engages the threaded central aperture of the base, such that mutual rotation of the same adjusts the longitudinal position of the spring. A locking dowel is closely received in the lock dowel aperture in the base, and has an unthreaded exterior surface which protrudes through the window and abuttingly engages an adjacent portion of the threaded exterior surface of the spring retainer to securely, yet detachably, retain the spring member in a selected longitudinal position.

Abstract: A sectioning device for sectioning food and non-food items includes a frame, a cutter removably positioned on the frame and press means positioned on the frame for pushing an item against and through the cutter. The sectioning device also includes means for moving, in a single continuous motion, at least one of the cutter and the press means between a neutral position and a sectioning position. The press means and the cutter are configured such that an item to be sectioned, positioned between the cutter and the press means is sectioned in its entirety upon movement from the neutral position to the sectioning position.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for cutting vegetables of different sizes and densities in a quick, safe and efficient manner The apparatus embodied herein provides an automated cutting process requiring only one operator who need not apply any physical exertion during the cutting process, and need not place his or her hands in the vicinity of the blade, as is necessary in conventional cutting methods using saws, guillotines and the like. The speed of the cutting blade bearing down on the vegetable is adjustable by varying the air pressure to a cylinder which actuates movement of the blade. This is advantageous in that the speed of the blade can be changed to suit particular sizes and densities of vegetable. The use of pneumatics further provides an extremely swift blade motion which reduces the likelihood of bruising to the vegetable as well as inaccurate portioning. Furthermore, when using such equipment, the quality of the cut will not be impaired over significant periods of use.

A robot holds an untreated coarse aluminum casting that is located at a predetermined carrying-in corner with the holding means and carries it to the first machining unit. Then, at the first machining unit it holds the treated coarse aluminum casting that has been treated by the first machining unit with the holding means as well as transferring the untreated coarse aluminum casting from the holding means to the first machining unit. Then it carries the treated coarse aluminum casting that has been treated by the first machining unit to the second machining unit.
