Abstract: The evacuation device is configured to remove air from a container via a one-way valve element attached to the container. The evacuation device includes a motor with a rotating shaft that extends along an axis line. The shaft is operably interconnected to a reciprocating element reciprocally movable within a chamber along a direction parallel to the axis line. Reciprocal motion of the reciprocal element draws air into and exhausts air from the chamber. To facilitate the operable interconnection, the evacuation device includes a cam having a cylindrical sidewall mounted to the rotating shaft. Disposed circumferentially into the cylindrical sidewall is a channel. The evacuation device further includes a yoke connected to the reciprocal element and having a follower element received in the channel. Rotation of the cam causes the follower element to move with respect to the channel, thereby converting rotational motion to linear translation. The evacuation device may also include a pressure adjustment feature.

Abstract: A food warming apparatus includes a heating compartment that can hold one or more trays containing previously cooked food portions. A cover for a tray has a horizontal section and a vertical section extending downwardly from one side of the horizontal section. A rack in the heating compartment includes a channel and a stop that blocks the front end of the channel. The vertical section of the cover fits securely in the channel behind the stop such that the rack supports the cover substantially only through the vertical section. When a tray is inserted into the receiving space cooperatively defined by the cover and rack, the cover is lifted up so that the horizontal section rests on the tray and at least partially blocks the open top of the tray, thereby restricting evaporation of liquids from the previously cooked food portions contained in the tray.

Abstract: A thread cutter for a sewing machine includes a first thread seizing assembly which is reciprocally movable and has a distal end formed with a first thread seizing portion, the first thread seizing assembly seizing a needle thread passing a bobbin case and a bobbin thread by the first thread seizing portion, the needle thread passing the bobbin case, a cutting blade located at a position nearer to the needle hole than a movement locus of the first thread seizing assembly, a second thread seizing assembly seizing the needle and bobbin threads both seized by the first thread seizing assembly during a backward movement of reciprocation of the first thread seizing assembly, cutting the needle and bobbin threads in cooperation with the cutting blade. When moved backward, the first thread seizing assembly is swung so that the first thread seizing portion comes close to the second thread seizing assembly.

Abstract: A thread cutter for a sewing machine includes a first thread seizing assembly reciprocally movable and including two unit thread seizing members having distal ends formed with first thread seizing portions respectively, a cutting blade located nearer to the needle hole side than a movement locus of the first assembly, and a second thread seizing assembly seizing the needle and bobbin threads both seized by the first assembly during backward movement of the first assembly, cutting the threads in cooperation with the cutting blade. When the threads seized by the first assembly are further seized by the second assembly, the first assembly is moved so that the distal ends of the unit thread seizing members are spaced from each other by a predetermined distance in a direction intersecting a movement direction of the first assembly.

Abstract: A wooden hull construction for a watercraft, particularly a canoe, includes a multiplicity of boards, each board individually secured to adjacent boards while maintaining parallel alignment. In an aspect of the hull construction wherein there is a single layer of boards, the boards are secured together in parallel alignment along their lateral edges with adhesive. In multiple-layer hull construction aspects, each layer of parallel hull boards is secured to an adjacent layer with board edge seams substantially offset from the board edge seams of the adjacent layer. Individual boards are secured directly to adjacent boards in the same layer or to boards in the adjacent layer, or both. The hull boards are aligned substantially transversely, i.e., gunwale to gunwale, of the watercraft.

Abstract: A portable scoreboard includes self winding scrolls exposed through windows in a front face for keeping score, and open areas for applying team logos. The front face includes spaced apart pairs of slots for each scoring scroll, and additional pairs of spaced apart slots for scrolls representing a phase of a game, for example, an inning. The scrolls are self winding on bobbins behind the slots and pass through the slots to generally expose a single digit for viewing. Digits are changed by simply manually sliding the exposed portion of a scroll to expose the next digit. The scrolls generally include digits spaced apart to display single digits and a pair of scrolls are used to express numbers greater than nine, but may optionally also include spaced apart double digits. Areas are provided below the individual scores and on a back surface to place team logos and/or advertising.

Abstract: A mechanism for adjusting an orientation of an electrode in a plasma processing chamber is disclosed. The plasma processing chamber may be utilized to process at least a substrate, which may be inserted into the plasma processing chamber in an insertion direction. The mechanism may include a support plate disposed outside a chamber wall of the plasma processing chamber and pivoted relative to the chamber wall. The support plate may have a first thread. The mechanism may also include an adjustment screw having a second thread that engages the first thread. Turning the adjustment screw may cause translation of a portion of the support plate relative to the adjustment screw. The translation of the portion of the support plate may cause rotation of the support plate relative to the chamber wall, thereby rotating the electrode with respect to an axis that is orthogonal to the insertion direction.
