Abstract: A single unit contact lens storage device that comprises a bottle that is squeezable for dispensing and rinsing contact lenses housed within storage trays of the device is described. The squeezable bottle serves as a fresh contact lens solution reservoir. Channels with both inlet and outlet holes built into the bottle provide for delivery of fresh solution to the contact lens storage trays. Contact lens tray caps are then screwed onto the lens trays to prevent the freshly delivered solution from traveling back to the fresh solution reservoir. The device also contains a dispensing cap for the rinsing of contact lenses with fresh solution from the fresh solution reservoir.

Abstract: An inline bitumen froth steam heater system including steam injection and static mixing devices is provided. The system heats and de-aerates input bitumen froth without creating downstream processing problems with the bitumen froth such as emulsification or live steam entrainment. The system is a multistage unit that injects and thoroughly mixes steam with bitumen resulting in output bitumen material having temperature of about 190° F. The system conditions a superheated steam supply to obtain saturated steam at about 300° F. The saturated steam is contacted with bitumen froth flow and mixed in a static mixer stage. The static mixers provide surface area and rotating action that allows the injected steam to condense and transfer its heat to the bitumen froth. The mixing action and increase in temperature of the bitumen froth results in reduction in bitumen viscosity and allows the release of entrapped air from the bitumen froth.

Abstract: An oil filter assembly (10) has a receiving chamber (18) that can be closed by a cover element (14) and a spring-loaded supporting tube (22) that is fixed in the receiving chamber and is designed to receive a filter element (20) that can be radially traversed by oil. The supporting tube (22) is axially displaceable between an operating position and a drain position in such a way that, in the operating position when the receiving chamber is closed by the cover element (14), the tube closes a drain opening (42). When the receiving chamber is open in the drain position, the tube releases the drain opening. The supporting tube is mounted to rotate through a rotational angle that is limited by two rotational stops (41, 43) in the housing and the cover element has follower sections (66, 68, 70) that co-operate with the supporting tube and/or filter element to rotate the supporting tube through the rotational angle when the cover element is screwed on and/or unscrewed.

Abstract: A method of making a porous membrane includes, in an exemplary embodiment, mixing together a first fine powder PTFE resin and a second fine powder PTFE resin to form a PTFE resin mixture. The first PTFE resin having a characteristic of forming more and longer fibrils than fibrils formed from the second PTFE resin. The second PTFE resin having a characteristic of forming thicker nodes than nodes formed from the first PTFE resin. The method also includes forming a preform from the PTFE resin mixture, extruding the preform into a tape, passing the tape through a plurality of opposing calender rolls to form a calendered tape having a thickness of about 380 ?m to about 1200 ?m, and stretching the calendered tape in the transverse direction to form a porous membrane having a plurality of nodes and fibrils and having a thickness of at least about 100 ?m.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for separation of elements from a fluid using affinity-bearing particles suspended in the fluid and using ultrasonic standing waves and micro-fluidics. The method includes the steps of: mixing said fluid mixture with particles (10) having affinity to at least one element (9) to be separated; allowing the element (9) to be separated to bind to said affinity-bearing particles (10); subjecting the fluid to an ultrasonic wave field resulting in forces on the affinity-bearing particles (10) but substantially no forces on elements not bound to affinity-bearing particles; and allowing said forces to move said affinity-bearing particles (10) to a portion of the fluid thus obtaining a locally higher concentration of affinity-bearing particles. The method may be performed in a process with continuous flow.
