Abstract: A method for determining whether to recommend a social relationship between a social network member and another party is disclosed. Electronic communication activity of the social network member and the other party is monitored. Based on a number of characteristics of the communication, a determination is made as to whether to recommend the party to the member as a social network friend. The characteristics can include how the parties communicate—whether through email, instant messaging and/or voice communication, whether the parties send direct email messages to each other, whether they communicate as part of a group email message, the location of each parties address in the email message and whether communication includes sharing activity.

Abstract: A communication confirmation message provides social networking events in combination with information regarding addresses to a member. The message can be used to suggest additional social network friends to members of a social network. The communication confirmation message is utilized to provide additional information on the social network member's friends, information from third party social networks, and recommendations to add individuals or second parties with whom the social network member communicates as friends.

Abstract: Systems and methods of conveying feedback concerning transmissions sent using a one-to-many protocol are disclosed. Such feedback includes information indicating whether a message was received by anyone, by whom, whether the message was accessed, and whether a receiver of the message has acknowledged the message. A receiver is configured to provide such feedback, either in response to receiving a request to send feedback, or automatically. The feedback is sent via the same communications channel the message was sent on, or via a different communications channel. A message's sender is informed that feedback has been received for a given message, and a searchable log is kept of the feedback.

Abstract: A method is provided for dynamically inserting email recipients based on entering a subject. A subject is received being typed by a user for an email. The subject being typed is parsed. It is recognized that the subject has been previously stored with corresponding email addresses related to the subject. In response to recognizing that the subject has been previously stored, the previously stored corresponding email addresses that relate to the subject are inserted. The subject and the corresponding email addresses were previously typed by the user, such that the subject and the corresponding email addresses could be stored. The corresponding email addresses are respectively inserted in TO fields, carbon copy (CC) fields, and/or blind carbon copy (BCC) fields of the email in accordance with a manner in which the corresponding email addresses were previously typed by the user.

Abstract: A process definition entered into a user interface that is coupled with an instant messaging client application can be identified. The process definition can represent an ad hoc business process. The process definition can utilize entities defined in a contact of the instant messaging (IM) client application. The process definition can execute. Upon reaching a terminating condition defined within the process definition, results of executing the process definition can be presented via the user interface.

Abstract: The present invention extends to methods, systems, and computer program products for composing message processing pipelines. Embodiments utilize intra-pipeline communication links to physically and/or temporally decouple pipeline stages, configure branching message flows, and bridge protocols. The use of intra-pipeline communication links permits composition of a message processing pipeline without having to alter the pipeline components or application. Each communication link is itself an application with incoming and outgoing message processing pipelines that bridge messages across time and/or space and application logic for satisfying message processing requirements.

Abstract: The described implementations relate to email messages. One technique detects a link to a web-site in an email message. The technique causes content from the web-site to be visualized on a common display area with the email message for a recipient of the email message.

Abstract: Methods, systems and computer program products for transferring debug sessions in a team environment. Exemplary embodiments include a method for transferring a debug session, the method including receiving a message that a first machine is to transfer the debug session, establishing a connection with a target machine to receive the debug session, receiving a message from the target machine that the debug session is accepted, terminating a connection with the first machine and sending debug session connection information to the target machine.

Abstract: A method for use when an original email is sent from an originator to a receiver, having a real email address, at a destination email address, which includes a concatenation of an alias and a magic number, is provided and includes replacing the destination email address with the real email address of the receiver, adding a new header field to the original email indicating that the destination email address was an original destination of the original email and forwarding the original email to the receiver at the real email address. If the receiver replies with a reply email, the method further includes setting a from header field in the reply email with a new header field indicating that the destination email address was an original destination of the original email, and if the original email is appended, removing the new header field from the original email.

Abstract: Processing a message includes receiving at a message processing system the message that is distributed by a message distributor, the message having a message type, based at least in part on the message type, locating among a plurality of subscriber groups a subscriber group that subscribes to the message type, each of the plurality of subscriber groups having a unique identifier and comprising one or more message subscriber nodes, at least some of the one or more message subscriber nodes in each of the plurality of subscriber groups being connected to the message processing system, and transmitting the message to a message subscriber node that belongs to the subscriber group that is located.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for delivering primary information that exists in at least one electronic form, comprising the following steps: transmission of the primary information via at least one communication network (5) to at least one communication system (2) allocated to an addressee (B) of the primary information; creation of verification information relating to the acknowledgement of the primary information by the addressee (B); and saving and/or transmission of said verification information via at least one communication network (5). The invention thus makes available individualised data which not only documents the receipt of the primary information by the addressee but also the latter's acknowledgement of said primary information. In addition, the invention relates to a telecommunication arrangement and a telecommunication unit which are suitable for carrying out the method or can be used in said method.

An event server stores a transmitted email for a given time period or until being retrieved by a receiving email client. If the given time period expires or the email is recalled, the receiving email client is unable to retrieve the email.

Abstract: A method and system for identifying changes to a data set, such as data within a mailbox, and performing actions based on the identified changes is discussed. In some examples, the system receives an indication of a change to a mailbox, creates a change journal entry for the change, and identifies data to be copied via the change journal entry. In some examples, the system leverages the change journal to associate messages with changes to a mailbox.

Abstract: A system and method for communicating secondary vending options for a vendible media product having entertainment content therein is provided. The system comprises a transaction network, and a database in communication with the transaction network, wherein the database stores a plurality of digital video disc titles and a plurality of locations and release dates corresponding to the digital video disc titles. A vending controller at a vending location receives a user request signal for a digital video disc, and determines whether the digital video disc is available in a vending inventory at the vending location. A central controller receives a first signal from the vending controller, wherein the first signal comprises a secondary vending option and a user electronic mail address. The central controller receives a second signal from the vending controller, wherein the second signal comprises an indication that the digital video disc is available in the vending inventory.

Abstract: A media transfer system includes a media transfer messaging application stored on a central server to be downloaded by a plurality of client devices and stored thereon. The plurality of client devices are communication with a network. The plurality of client devices having the media transfer messaging application stored thereon are enabled to transmit media between one another via the network and are defined as a receiving client device when receiving media and a sending client device when sending media. The sending client device is authenticated prior to sending media to be defined as an authenticated sending client device, and media sent from the sending client device is received by the receiving client device as a message. The receiving client device is adapted to accept, reject or delay delivery of the message, and is adapted to send a message received from a sending client device to at least one receiving client device.

Abstract: The present invention quickly resolves troubles in an analyzer and performs effective external quality control management. An analyzer (2) and a control device (1) are connected by a network (3). Error data and sample data taken from an assay of a quality control substance are transmitted from the control device (1) to the analyzer (2). The analyzer (2) is made to be remotely operable from the control device (1) and when problems arise, repair from the control device (1) is possible. The control device (1) tallies sample data and provides the tally results to a Web page. The analyzer (2) accesses the Web page using a WWW browser, and it can perform external quality control in real time.

Abstract: A system for suppressing delivery of undesirable messages through vulnerable systems. The system includes an emulator that emulates one or more of the vulnerable systems. A module associated with the emulator intercepts undesirable messages, which were originally intended to be sent through a vulnerable system. One embodiment includes plural emulators, which include one or more servers that are part of a network of servers. A controller communicates with one or more servers. In this embodiment, the controller includes a database capable of storing statistics pertaining to undesirable messages blocked by one or more of the servers. The statistics may include information pertaining to the sender(s) of the undesirable messages. Undesirable messages intercepted by the network of servers include email spam.

Abstract: A method for an online game system triggering an IM operation includes: setting a game user identification and a corresponding IM user identification in an online game server; detecting, by an online game client, whether an IM operation instruction regarding a game user identification is received, and querying for the IM user identification corresponding to the game user identification if it is determined that the IM operation instruction is received; and, invoking, by the online game client, an operation interface of an IM client, the IM user identification being taken as an invoking parameter and the operation interface corresponding to the IM operation instruction and being to trigger a corresponding IM operation. An online game system is also provided. Thereby, the IM operation can be triggered in an online game, and thus the process for triggering the IM operation is simplified and the IM client's system resources are saved.

Abstract: A system and method of proxy domain name registration permits a would-be domain name registrant anonymity. A registrar affords customers the opportunity to use the proxy registration. If the customer seeking registration of a domain name requests, the registrar obtains contact information needed for registration from a proxy entity established for this purpose. The registrar completes the registration of the domain name with the appropriate registry (i.e. “.com, .net” etc.). The contact information published in WHOIS is that of proxy entity. Contractually the customer is afforded control over the domain name. Emails intended for the customer are received by the proxy entity who may filter them if the customer requests. Emails sent by the customer are sent to the proxy entity who in turn sends them to the indicated addressee.

Abstract: A method and system for processing messages includes receiving a plurality of messages directed to a user. Each of the plurality of messages is associated with a respective conversation and list of conversations is displayed in an order determined in accordance with second predefined criteria, as a set of rows, where each row corresponds to one of the listed conversations and includes at least a sender list, a conversation topic and a date/time value. A user is enabled to identify one or more conversations in the list of conversations, to mark the identified conversations as belonging to a particular category, and to display another list of conversations comprising conversations marked as belonging to the particular category. A user may cause a conversation to be removed from certain displays, but to become visible again after the passage of a certain amount of time or the occurrence of an event.

Abstract: A method of routing messages to multiple consumers comprises determining a probability function defining message classification probabilities for each of a plurality of consumer sets, receiving a plurality of messages, classifying each message, storing each message in a queue, receiving notification of a consumer available to process a message, ascertaining the consumer set to which the available consumer belongs, accessing the probabilities for the ascertained consumer set, selecting a message classification according to the accessed probabilities, and transmitting a message, of the selected classification, to the available consumer.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for migration of a guest from one server to another are disclosed. In one embodiment, a first server, while hosting the guest, receives a signal from the second server that the migration is to occur. The first server presents the memory used by the guest as a virtual disk. The second server accesses this disk and copies its contents to the second server over the storage area network. The first server suspends operation of the guest, and after the memory of the guest is copied to the second server, the second server resumes operation of the guest.

Abstract: A method of operating a plurality of server devices within a user's personal bubble includes accessing information available on the plurality of server devices. The information is output so as to appear that the information resides on a single device. The remote control device also may automatically configure the various devices within the personal bubble to communicate with other devices based on particular events, commands, etc.

Abstract: A method in an electronic device provides local content to a user device in a communication network. The communication network includes an access network and a core network. In the access network, a content request is intercepted from the user device, which may be formatted according to a network interface. The content request may include a request for data content. Protocol layers associated with an active data session may be terminated so that an edge gateway device may extract and inject packets into the data stream without involving the core network. A cache may be maintained in the access network.

Abstract: A file download manager automatically controls how and where downloaded files are stored. A method for use in downloading a file includes establishing communications between a network site and a computer that is visiting the network site, automatically detecting whether a device capable of receiving files is connected to the computer, automatically determining a location in the device where a file may be stored, and automatically downloading a file from the network site to the computer and sending the downloaded file to the device to be stored at the determined location in the device. A computer readable storage medium stores one or more computer programs adapted to cause a processor based system to execute these steps.

Abstract: A wireless media arrangement streams media over a local packet-based wireless network. According to an example embodiment, such a wireless media arrangement (e.g., 100) includes a digitally-encoded non-volatile storage device (NSD) (e.g., 110) such as a hard disc drive (HDD) that stores media, reloadable memory (e.g., 115) such as random-access memory (RAM), a media center (e.g. 105) to stream the stored media to a media playback device over the local network, and an embedded media server (e.g., 120). The media server wirelessly discovers and communicates with a media playback device (e.g., 125) on a local network. The media server also stores database tables on the NSD identifying the stored media. Upon startup, the media server loads a current version of the database tables into the reloadable memory; however, if an error is detected in the current version, then a pervious version of the database tables is loaded.

Abstract: Optimized delivery of locally applicable Internet content to users. A cache of locally applicable Internet content is maintained in a local content server, based upon a monitoring of locations of users requesting Internet content. Requests for Internet content are received from user equipment through a wireless network base station, and served from the local content server, which is logically proximate to the wireless network base station. The caching of locally applicable Internet content may be maintained on a layered basis. Secure action request receipt and corresponding performance, and item condition alerts are also described.

Abstract: Systems and methods for processing documents are disclosed. Documents received at a data server are transcoded using locally stored or generated code books. Code books for transcoded documents received at a wireless mobile communication device are either retrieved from a memory on the device or requested from a data server. In response to a code book request, a data server retrieves a requested code book from a local memory or generates the requested code book and returns the requested code book to a requestor. A wireless mobile communication device may also generate and transcode XML documents using a locally stored code book, a locally generated code book, or a code book received in response to a code book request.

A communication apparatus 1 successively transmits request information that requests related information about contents being received via a network 30, at specified intervals (S1), receives related information corresponding to that request information (S2), temporarily stores (S3), displays it (S4), and performs contents updating processing. Here, if a direction to store the related information about the contents is entered, the communication apparatus 1 requests again request information for related information about contents, separately from the contents updating processing (S10). Then, the communication apparatus 1 receives related information corresponding to that request information (S11), and stores it (S13). This enables the latest related information to be further correctly obtained out of related information concerning contents, and obtaining related information before updating is reduced.

Abstract: A software provisioning environment can include several provisioning servers for providing software provisioning to one or more target machines. To assign provisioning servers to the target machines, a provisioning server can be configured to assign the provisioning servers utilizing the provisioning objects. The provisioning server can be configured to associate selected provisioning objects with respective provisioning servers. By associating a provisioning object with a respective provisioning server, the respective provisioning server will operate as the provisioning server for any provisioning processes performed on target machines utilizing the selected provisioning object. The provisioning server can be configured to associate the provisioning objects with the provisioning servers based on any number of factors such as location of the provisioning servers, specifications of the provisioning servers, load on a provisioning server, and performance of a provisioning server.

Abstract: A method for providing Internet services by a portal device capable of electronically communicating with at least one user terminal over a communication medium is provided. The method includes connecting to at least one user terminal, detecting hardware capabilities of the at least one user terminal and saving the hardware capabilities as a configuration file for a first connection between the portal device and the at least one user terminal, receiving a service request indicating a service selected by the at least one user terminal, and executing the selected service dependent on the configuration file of the at least one user terminal and transmitting results to the at least one user terminal. A system providing the Internet services by the portal device is also provided.

The method includes: parsing received notification information that includes uniformly sorted alarm/event information; and obtaining the uniformly sorted alarm/event information. The apparatus includes: a parsing module, configured to parse received notification information that includes uniformly sorted alarm/event information; and a processing module, configured to obtain the uniformly sorted alarm/event information. The method and apparatus implement data interworking, reduce XML tags, and improve the efficiency of transmitting data on the network.

Abstract: Provided are a server, a system, and a method of distributing a load caused by health checks in a dynamic domain name server (DDNS) by separating a health check unit which causes the most load on the dynamic domain name server and a unit for processing a client query and registering equipment. The dynamic domain name server (DDNS) includes a main dynamic domain name server (DDNS that registers an identifier and a dynamic IP address for a piece of the equipment and responds to a client query request with the dynamic IP address of the piece of equipment; and at least one sub-DDNS for updating a status of the piece of equipment in response to a status notifying message sent from the piece of equipment.

Abstract: A system includes a name server, an edge cache server, and a local cache server. The name server is configured to provide an anycast IP address in response to a request for an IP address of an origin hostname from a client system. The edge cache server is configured to respond to the anycast IP address and a unicast IP address and to retrieve content from an origin. The local cache server includes a storage and is configured to respond to the anycast IP address, to retrieve content from the edge cache server, and provide the content to a client system.

Abstract: Methods of providing reputation information for a remote device may include receiving a name for the remote device from a client device. Responsive to receiving the name for the remote device, the name may be translated into an Internet Protocol (IP) address for the remote device, and reputation information may be provided for the remote device. The IP address and the reputation information may be transmitted to the client device, for example, in one IP packet.

Abstract: Apparatus and methods for communicating between a gateway server and a plurality of other servers. The apparatus and methods may involve receiving information requests from the plurality of other servers. Each of the plurality of other servers may provide a platform for a different development environment. The apparatus and methods may further involve using the gateway server to generate an identification tag for each information request received from each of the plurality of other servers. The approved methods may include receiving a response to such information requests. In addition, the apparatus and methods may include associating the response received to the information request to which the response is responsive.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for managing networks. The method includes defining a set of managed objects of each of the networks to be managed, sending a request for information about the set of managed objects to an agent of the networks to be managed, and recognizing manageable managed objects based on information representing the managed objects, which is transmitted from the agent in response to the request. A network manager requests, receives, and obtains information about managed objects of each of sensor networks, especially heterogeneous sensor networks, thereby managing the heterogeneous sensor networks in an integrated way.

Abstract: An administrative manager connected to servers each in which a host OS capable of loading therein a software load balancer and a guest OS executing a service program are operable as virtual OS, performs the following processes. Namely, the server in which the guest OS for executing the service program being the transmission source of a processing request to be load balanced operates is set as a setting objective server of the software load balancer. Further, the server in which the guest OS for executing the service program being the transmission target of the processing request operates is set as a load balancing objective server. Then, an instruction is transmitted to the setting objective server to load the software load balancer in the host OS thereof, and, an instruction is transmitted to the setting objective server to set information to be used for the load balancing of transmission data.

Abstract: A network management system in an aircraft for managing and maintaining a network. An aircraft maintenance computer communicates with a first device to be managed via the SNMP protocol. The first device to be comprises a description file. Within a subnetwork one or more second devices to be managed are present which are linked with the first device to be managed. These second devices to be managed enter their data into the description file via these connections. The data are necessary for managing and maintaining the respective second device to be managed by the aircraft maintenance computer.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a terminal apparatus includes a first acquisition module configured to acquire its own position information by using a known positioning system, a second acquisition module configured to acquire its own position information through another system which is different from the positioning system, when an equipment ID specifying the communication equipment is input at an installation position of the communication equipment and when it is impossible for the first acquisition module to acquire the own position information, and a transmitter which transmits a setting registration request including the equipment ID and the position information to the maintenance center via the communication network, when the transmitter is connectable to the communication network.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, a network management system comprises nodes and an apparatus manages a communication network. The node includes generator, buffers, notification module, transmitter, measurement module and controller. The generator generates messages of different levels depending on a type of alarms. The buffers each provided for each of the different levels and temporarily holding the message in a holding period appropriate to the level. The notification module notifies the apparatus of the held message. The transmitter transmits a test signal. The measurement module individually measures the load on the apparatus and the load on the communication network based on a reception time of a reply from the apparatus to the test signal. The controller varies the holding period in the buffers according to the level based on the measured load on the apparatus and the communication network.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus involve production servers in a data center of an enterprise and management servers arranged in a scale-free manner to monitor, for instance, the health and general service status and availability of the production servers. Representatively, the production servers are first identified and then the management servers are analyzed to see if they can be deployed in a scale-free arrangement therewith. If so, the scale-free arrangement satisfies the proportionality equation P(k)˜k?? where ? is 1, 2 or 3. If not, the management servers are reserved until such time as they are able to fit in a scale-free manner. Computer program products are also utilized to assist in such calculations. Deployment of the production servers in a scale-free configuration is still another feature as is contemplating the physical limitations of servers (e.g., capacity, memory, number of connections, etc.) since each does not individually scale infinitely.

Abstract: A method of obtaining information about usage of application executable files and associated software program in a network of computers or on an individual computer is provided. The method involves collecting information about last use of software programs, and associated executable files, on a computer or a set of managed computers from various resources on the computers. The information that is collected includes file name, directory, date and time the executable was last started, a security identifier of the last user, the method of last use, whether the executable was found to be running at the time it was found, and whether the executable is registered to run as a service. From this information, a list is generated regarding software items, and the list is merged such that a given executable has a single software item on the list. Reports are produced detailing information about one or more software items on the list. The reports may be displayed in a graphic user interface designed for that purpose.
