Abstract: An operating device for selecting shift stages in a shift-by-wire gearbox. The device comprises a selector lever which is movable between a drive gear position and a park position, and a locking device with a spring-loaded detent pin and a lock-in gate. An actuator device, that moves the selector lever, comprises a disengagement device. A detent pin and a lock-in gate can be brought, via a disengagement device, from a first relative position, in which the detent pin engages a shifting track of the lock-in gate, into another relative position, in which the detent pin disengages the shifting track. The operating device facilitates simple and safe actuator-induced return of the selector lever, into the park position, and offers the driver reliable optic and tactile feedback about the actual shift condition of the transmission.

Abstract: A rock bit is formed with pockets for enhanced cutting element retention and support of the cutting elements during operation of the rock bit. Portions of the pockets are carburized to increase the yield strength of the pockets which also increases the retention of the cutting elements. The pockets are formed at a diameter that is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the cutting elements. Portions of the pockets are then carburized. The pockets are heated until the diameter of the pockets is equal to the diameter of the cutting elements. After the cones have been cooled and cleaned, a material is placed in each pocket prior to installing the cutting elements. The material homogenizes support for the cutting elements during operation of the rock bit.

Abstract: Method, device and system for generating a light control parameter for controlling light (20), e.g. ambient light, in response to an audio signal (A). The audio signal (A) is analyzed in order to extract a temporal evolution of semantic content of the audio signal (A). A light control parameter is then generated according to the temporal evolution of semantic content of the audio signal (A), either on-line or off-line. This enables generating light that is perceptually aligned with the audio signal, e.g. music. In a preferred embodiment spatial properties of the audio signal (A) are extracted, and separate light control parameters are generated for controlling light sources spatially positioned according to the spatial properties of the audio signal, e.g. for stereo or surround sound systems where light sources are positioned near each loudspeaker. Such embodiment enables spatial correspondence between light and audio.

Abstract: A planetary rotation machine including at least one ring channel which is curved along an at least partial arc and that contains a piston that can be moved in a fluid generating a movement. The piston can be coupled to a rotary body coaxially arranged by a lever by the rotational axis thereof. A stable structure able to transmit high torques is obtained by guiding the lever through a gap created in the wall of the ring channel in a direction of displacement of the piston, in a radial direction away from the piston in a sealed manner.

Abstract: In a method of treating a gas exhausted from a process chamber, the exhaust gas is conveyed to a vacuum pump (20) and a nitrogen purge gas is added to the exhaust gas for pumping with the exhaust gas. Gas exhaust from the pump is conveyed to an abatement device (28) for abating the exhaust gas. The amount of purge gas added to the exhaust gas is adjusted in response to a variation of the composition of the exhaust gas, or the composition of the gas supplied to the process chamber, to optimise the abatement of the exhaust gas.

Abstract: A method is described for recycling hydrogen (H2) supplied to a chamber (10) in a gas stream comprising hydrogen and at least one other gas, such as silane. A gas comprising at least hydrogen is drawn from the chamber (10) using a first vacuum pump (32) that exhausts gas therefrom at a sub-atmospheric pressure. A portion of the gas exhausted from the first vacuum pump (32), for example between 70 and 95% of this gas, is diverted away from a second vacuum pump (34) backing the first vacuum pump (32). In one embodiment, the diverted portion of the sub-atmospheric pressure gas is treated to produce a purified gas comprising hydrogen, which is stored in a storage vessel (14). The composition of the purified gas is analysed, and, depending on the results of the analysis, at least one of hydrogen and silane is added to the stored gas so that the composition of the stored gas is similar to that of the gas initially supplied to the chamber (10). Gas is then supplied to the chamber (10) from the storage vessel (14).

Abstract: Hydroxylamine is formed in a reactor through a partial hydrogenation of nitric oxide gas (NO) with hydrogen gas (H2) in an aqueous medium with nitrogen gas (N2) as an inert gas. The formation of the hydroxylamine forms nitrous oxide gas (N2O). The gases and the water vapor are flowed away from the reactor in a vent gas stream enabling recycling of the gases. The N2O is removed from the vent gas stream to reduce flammability. Once the N2O is removed, the NO, H2, and N2 are recycled and re-used in the reactor to form additional hydroxylamine. The N2O removed from the vent gas stream is of high purity and can be commercially sold or economically discarded.

Abstract: A system for sealing the legs of two stages of cyclones in series used in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) processes, comprising a terminal leg configuration, which is devoid of moving parts and makes use of a long-radius curve, and which changes the flow direction of the descending mass flow of catalyst in dense phase into a plane orthogonal to the ascending gaseous flow. This prevents the entry of gaseous phase inside the leg, and promotes efficient sealing and preventing the “packing-down” of the dense bed of particulates.
