Publication number: 20100089158Abstract: An apparatus and/or method that corrects for tuning errors in vibrating structure gyroscopes that are configured to be driven along a plurality of axes without the need for dedicated torque elements. The correction is accomplished by introducing a phase offset in the drive signal of one or more of the drive elements relative to other drive elements to minimize or reduce the quadrature signal. The tuning may be accomplished as a one time “set and forget” adjustment, as a manual adjustment performed at the discretion of the user, or as a closed loop active correction system. The technique improves the tuning of the resonator assembly, rather than merely compensating for the mistuning. Accordingly, for various embodiments of the invention, the destructive interference between the plurality of drive axes is reduced. Conservation of vibrational energy present in the resonator is thus enhanced, with less vibrational energy transferred to the support structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2009Publication date: April 15, 2010Inventor: William S. Watson

Publication number: 20100089186Abstract: A membrane-permeation test for evaluating pharmaceutical compositions is described. The method comprises the following steps: (1) providing a microporous membrane having a plurality of pores, the membrane having a feed side and a permeate side, wherein the feed side of the membrane is in fluid communication with the feed solution, and wherein the permeate side of the membrane is in fluid communication with a permeate solution; (2) administering a pharmaceutical composition to an aqueous solution to form a feed solution; and (3) measuring the concentration of drug in the permeate solution; wherein the feed side of the membrane is hydrophilic, and/or wherein the permeate solution comprises an organic fluid.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 2, 2009Publication date: April 15, 2010Inventors: Walter Christian Babcock, Dwayne Thomas Friesen, Scott Baldwin McCray

Publication number: 20100089187Abstract: A probe connector includes a barrel, a plunger, an elastic element, at least one first magnet, and at least one second magnet. The barrel defines an enclosure surrounding a chamber. An opening is formed at one end of the barrel. The elastic element is arranged in the chamber of the barrel. The plunger has a basic portion received in the chamber and against one end of the elastic element, and a contact portion extending out of the chamber through the opening. The first magnet is disposed on the enclosure of the barrel. The second magnet is disposed on the basic portion of the plunger. When the plunger is pressed inward, the plunger is leant towards one side with the basic portion against the enclosure because of the second magnet approaching the first magnet to produce a magnetic force interaction therebetween.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 14, 2008Publication date: April 15, 2010Inventors: Te-Hung YIN, Yung-Yi Chen, Jui-Pin Lin, Shu-Fang Li

Publication number: 20100089188Abstract: A circular shaft having a platform formed on it by machining a circular flat into the surface of the shaft. A channel extends around the periphery of the circular flat with a depth in the range of 10 to 15% of the diameter of the shaft and in the range of 30 to 50% of the width/diameter of the platform. The width of the platform is 4 to 7% of the diameter of the shaft. A sensor is mounted on the platform, whereby the formation of the platform and surrounding channel reduces the strain arising in the device which is transferred to the sensor.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 8, 2007Publication date: April 15, 2010Inventors: Arthur John Leigh, Raymond David Lohr

Publication number: 20100089189Abstract: The restraining strap has a rectangular cross section with a broad side against cylindrical sections holding a release member. The moment of inertia for a rectangular cross section strap is represented by the formula I=BH3/12. The lower moment of inertia reduces the load on the fusible link. With no limit to the number of wraps around the cylindrical sections, higher preloads can be accommodated by increasing the number of wraps of the restraining strap without affecting the moment of inertia or the amount of force borne by the fusible link. The accuator has a catch extending between the restrainer and actuator. The catch ends engage the restrainer and actuator and, upon release from the actuator, the catch rotates to allow the restrainer to unwind from about the cylindrical sections.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 1, 2005Publication date: April 15, 2010Inventors: Edward Rudoy, Larry Leroy McCormick, Edwin E. Publication number: 20100089190Abstract: A swing leaf operator having a closer portion is described. The closer portion has an output shaft, on which a cam disc is torsion-resistantly disposed, as well as a pressure roller. By way of an operational connection, a closer spring presses the pressure roller against a running surface of the cam disc. The pressure roller, with regard to an axial center of the output shaft, is disposed such that, during an opening or closing of a swing leaf coupled to the output shaft, the pressure roller is moved along a path. Due to the fact that the path bypasses the axial center of the output shaft and on account of the configuration of the running surface of the cam disc, in different modes of operation of the swing leaf operator at a respective opening angle of the swing leaf, a very similar or identical torque is respectively applied to the output shaft. Furthermore, the swing leaf operator has a drive motor, which is in operational connection with the output shaft.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2007Publication date: April 15, 2010Applicant: Dorma GmbH + Co.
