Abstract: A system comprises means for authenticating an identity of a medical implant patient using at least a portion of information provided on an identification card and means for displaying an image showing a medical implant as actually implanted within the medical implant patient and an image showing an implant operation scar of the medical implant patient resulting from actual implantation of the medical implant therein thereby allowing the displayed image of the medical implant to be visually compared against a corresponding image provided on the identification card and allowing verification that the medical implant patient has a scar thereon appearing the same as the image showing the implant operation scar of the medical implant patient resulting from actual implantation of the medical implant. Displaying the images is performed in response to successfully authenticating the identity of the medical implant verification patient.

Abstract: An imaging system with in-field image quality testing and reporting features, includes a housing, and a solid-state imager having an array of image sensors supported by the housing for capturing return light from a target located in a range of working distances from the housing in an image capture mode of operation, and for capturing return light from a test pattern positioned at a predetermined position in the range of working distances in a test mode of operation different from the image capture mode. An electrical signal indicative of the captured return light is generated in each mode. A memory is supported by the housing for storing a test program for testing image quality.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus for accurately authenticating a document (e.g. a credit card) having a magnetic stripe are provided. The magnetic field at different points of the magnetic stripe are measured, e.g., by a checkout scanner to create a magnetic signature. Digital samples of the measurements may be used to create a representation of the magnetic signature. The representation can then be compared to reference values to produce a measure of the authenticity of the document. The reference values are updated over time to reflect changes in the magnetic stripe of the authentic document, as may occur due to physical deterioration. For example, reference values may be optimized based on recent measurements of the authenticated document to provide a more accurate determination of authenticity for future measurements.

The method may not only achieve the function of discharging water in advance, but also automatically shut off the water output in a certain time period, so as to save water.

Abstract: A device for positional securing and guiding of rails for railway tracks for trains, in particular high-speed trains, includes guide plates. In general, rails are laid directly or indirectly by intermediate assembly of intermediate plates to fixed concrete track beds and guide plates, against which the rail base and possibly intermediate plates lie laterally. Guide plates are embedded on or in the concrete track beds, wherein the guide plates are fabricated of high-strength, form-stable material, preferably reinforced plastic, such as for example glass-fiber reinforced plastic, in particular polyamide. The device according to the invention allows to create guide plates which are overall more wear resistant. Wear resistance is achieved in that the guide plate within the surface area, on which the rail base rests, has an insert or areas provided with inserts, the insert being fabricated of slippable, low-abrasion or friction-resistant, low-wear or wear-resistant and flexibly resilient material.

A discharge chute is connected to the discharge outlet which has inwardly angled plates around part thereof. Vent holes are provided in a wall of the housing which add air flow to the wood chipper when it is being operated.
