Abstract: A rolling element screw comprises a screw and a nut mounted on the screw. The screw and the nut are defined with opposite rolling grooves to form a loaded path in which plural rolling elements are to be disposed. The nut is provided with a return element at each of two opposite ends thereof for cooperating with the loaded path. The respective return elements include a return path, and the return paths of the two return elements connect with the loaded path to form a circulation path. The junction where the respective return paths of the return elements are connected to the loaded path is designed to be an inclined surface including a lower portion and an upper portion. There is a height difference between the nut rolling grooves and the respective return paths, so that the rolling elements can roll more smoothly without causing the jammed problem.

As a result thereof, the shaft (6) can be rotated. Via the shaft (6), the movement mechanism (37) for performing the relative motion between the object and the knife blade can be driven. Further, the present invention relates to a method for operating a device for braking a shaft (6) of a microtome (1). So that the device can be used in a mechanically formed movement mechanism (37), the inventive device is characterized by an actuator and a braking unit (25). The braking unit (25) is connected in a rotatably fixed manner to the shaft (6).

Abstract: A scribing system comprising a mounting mechanism, stylus, and force generating mechanism is provided. The mounting mechanism is configured to rotate an elongated object in such a manner that the object is subjected to a bow effect wherein a middle portion of the object bends relative to the end portions of the object. The stylus is for scribing the object at a position x along the long dimension of the object while the mounting mechanism rotates the object. The force generating mechanism is connected to the stylus so that the stylus applies the same constant force to the elongated object regardless of the position x along the long dimension of the object that the stylus is positioned, while the mounting mechanism rotates the object and thereby subjects the object to the bow effect, thereby scribing the object.

Abstract: An electronic high-hat circuitry system allows the drummer to manually choose the sounds that an electronic high-hat makes when the drummer's foot is off of the pedal and the high-hat instrument is struck. When the pedal is at or near the top of its travel, a primary circuitry switch disables normal foot-controlled positioning circuitry and enables a secondary circuit that sends a manually selected positioning signal to a drum module. When the pedal is again pressed down, the primary circuitry switch returns control to the primary, pedal controlled circuit. An optional tertiary circuit allows for the choosing of a different sound when the secondary circuit is activated and the high-hat cymbal is tilted, and is used primarily for accent notes. A control panel is used by the drummer to select the desired high-hat sounds of the secondary and tertiary circuits.
