The third and fourth capacitive bridge sensors may be oriented 90 degrees off of the first and second capacitive bridge. An alternative is to locate a third capacitive bridge within the second proof mass.Type: GrantFiled: November 29, 2007Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Honeywell International Inc.Inventors: Ioan Pavelescu, Ion Georgescu, Dana Elena Guran, Cornel P. Patent number: 7784346Abstract: Disclosed are micromachined acoustic sensors for monitoring electrochemical deposition, methods for fabricating such sensors, and methods for in-situ monitoring of electrochemical deposition processes using such sensors. An exemplary acoustic sensor includes a deformable silicon membrane, an encapsulated piezoelectric layer formed on the silicon membrane, and surface electrodes formed on the piezoelectric layer. The sensor and a loudspeaker may be used to calibrate an electrochemical deposition process. The acoustic response of the sensor is monitored over time with respect to plating thickness during electroplating of a sample to generate a predictive model defining the plating process. The predictive model may be used to monitor the plating thickness of other samples in real time.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2005Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Georgia Tech Research CorporationInventors: Frances R. Patent number: 7784348Abstract: An ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation (NDE) system operable to inspect target materials is provided. This ultrasonic NDE system includes an articulated robot, an ultrasound inspection head, a processing module, and a control module. The ultrasound inspection head couples to or mounts on the articulated robot. The ultrasound inspection head is operable to deliver a generation laser beam, a detection laser beam, and collect phase modulated light scattered by the target materials. The processing module processes the phase modulated light and produces information about the internal structure of the target materials. The control module directs the articulated robot to position the ultrasound inspection head according to a pre-determined scan plan.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2007Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Lockheed Martin CorporationInventors: Marc Dubois, Thomas E. Patent number: 7784351Abstract: A field device with integrated temperature control comprises a housing, a temperature sensor, a controller and a terminal block. The housing encloses internal components of the field device. The temperature sensor and the controller are located inside the housing. The temperature sensor senses an internal temperature of the field device, and the controller controls the internal temperature by regulating heat supplied to the field device. The terminal block connects to the controller in order to regulate the heater power as a function of the internal temperature.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2008Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Rosemount Inc.Inventor: Mark Stephen Schumacher

Patent number: 7784353Abstract: An adapter fits a diaphragm-type sanitary pressure gauge onto a flanged tubular stub of a sanitary conduit. A cylinder has a lower ring flange that mates with the flange of the tubular stub and an upper flange that mates with the diaphragm mounting foot of the pressure gauge. These are held together with tri-clamps, with suitable sealing glands. The interior of the cylinder is two-tiered, with a larger diameter portion above, a smaller diameter portion below, and an annular shelf or step between. A piston with a larger diameter upper portion and smaller diameter lower portion rides in the cylinder, with a seal ring in the lower portion. A hard rubber pad on the top of the piston contacts the diaphragm of the pressure gauge to transmit fluid pressure from the sanitary conduit to the gauge. A small leak detection hole through the cylinder above the seal ring reveals any leakage.Type: GrantFiled: July 8, 2009Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Inventor: Robert H. Feldmeier

Patent number: 7784355Abstract: A material testing machine is provided, in which a motor is used as a driving source of a loading mechanism, and the material testing machine can always perform a material test accurately, without requiring skilled operators, trial and error, or a longer time when setting control gains. A ratio K(t) of an inspection value F(t) of a control quantity to a displacement ?(t) of a motor 21 is calculated sequentially, and a value proportional to a value obtained by dividing a deviation {FD(t)?F(t)} by the calculated ratio K(t) is taken as a rotation angle command and supplied to a servo amplifier 36. The servo amplifier 36 supplies a current to the motor 21. Therefore, as the test proceeds, appropriate gains are automatically calculated and set, a gain setting operation before test is not necessary, and the material test can be always performed accurately.Type: GrantFiled: June 27, 2008Date of Patent: August 31, 2010Assignee: Shimadzu CorporationInventor: Toshiyuki Kawano
