Publication number: 20100218676Abstract: Toxic substances such as heavy metals are extracted from a medium using a sorbent composition. The sorbent composition is derived by sulfidation of red mud, which contains hydrated ferric oxides derived from the Bayer processing of bauxite ores. Exemplary sulfidizing compounds are H2S, Na2S, K2S, (NH4)2S, and CaSx. The sulfur content typically is from about 0.2 to about 10% above the residual sulfur in the red mud. Sulfidized red mud is an improved sorbent compared to red mud for most of the heavy metals tested (Hg, Cr, Pb, Cu, Zn, Cd, Se, Th, and U). Unlike red mud, sulfidized red mud does not leach naturally contained metals. Sulfidized red mud also prevents leaching of metals when mixed with red mud. Mixtures of sulfidized red mud and red mud are more effective for sorbing other ions, such as As, Co, Mn, and Sr, than sulfidized red mud alone.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 18, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: J.I. Publication number: 20100218687Abstract: The coffee machine according to the invention for the automatic preparation of coffee or espresso comprises a housing (1) with the components arranged therein for the preparation and dispensing of coffee as well as the components (10, 11, 12) for the supply of hot water and the supply of steam. The housing (1) is subdivided by means of a partition (6) into two compartments (8, 9), namely a front compartment (8), which is intended to accommodate the components for the preparation and dispensing of coffee, and a rear compartment (9) which is intended to contain the carrier element (7). The components (10, 11, 12) for the supply of hot water and the supply of steam are arranged in the carrier element (7). By virtue of the partition (6) there is a thermal separation and shielding between the two compartments (8, 9) on the one hand and, on the other hand, to a great extent, also a dry-moist separation. This modular structure substantially eases and simplifies the assembly and service tasks on the coffee machine.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2008Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: EGRO COFFEE SYSTEMS AGInventor: Markus Anliker

Publication number: 20100218689Abstract: The specification relates to the commercial preparation of fried foods. Debris from the fried food sloughs off the batter or coating and remains in the fry pot and bum. The burnt food imparts off tastes to the food and decreases the service life of the fry oil. Furthermore, the debris block discharge port of the fry pot making it difficult to change the fry oil and can present a safety hazard. The present invention provides a means to reduce the amount of debris remaining in the fry oil after every fry load. Thus lengthening the service life of the fry oil and preventing clogging of the discharge port.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2009Publication date: September 2, 2010Inventor: Chad A. Mickelson

Publication number: 20100218690Abstract: A utensil for containing foodstuffs, applicable to cooking in a microwave oven, including a receptacle made of an elastomer material with an access opening and a cover for covering the access opening. The receptacle is formed by one or more walls including a bottom wall in elongated channel shape and opening edges defining the access opening at a height greater than the bottom. The bottom wall includes reinforcing ribs projecting outwardly from an outer surface thereof and providing supports leaving most of the outer surface of the bottom wall exposed to the surrounding atmosphere when the receptacle is on a support surface. The bottom wall is connected at its ends to end walls determining respective end opening edges configured to support lids.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2007Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: LEKUE, S.L.Inventors: Lukas Werner Huber, Jose Maria Llorente Homanpera

Publication number: 20100218693Abstract: A method of manufacturing an improved instant lottery ticket with a graphic overprint applied by offset lithography, and the instant lottery ticket made accordingly, are provided, whereby the superior quality visual images produced by lithographic printing may be obtained for the marketing advantage of the lottery ticket. A substrate comprises a secure area having variable (e.g. game) data printed therein and a graphic area. The secure area is hidden by a non-graphic overprint layer which covers it, comprising scratch-off layers. A graphic overprint layer is applied over the non-graphic overprint layer by means of offset lithographic printing. The non-graphic overprint layer is prepared in such a manner as to provide a sufficiently thin and smooth, and having the appropriate rheology and pH characteristics, for compatibility with graphic overprinting by offset lithography.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: GTECH PRINTING CORPORATIONInventor: Michael Wayne Kozdras

Publication number: 20100218694Abstract: An improved process for producing flexographic printing plates using a digital workflow is described. After creating an in-situ digital mask over the photopolymerizable layer, the photopolymerizable layer is exposed to actinic radiation through the mask layer in a reduced oxygen environment. After subsequent development, the resulting relief printing form is composed of flat topped dots with crisp edges and steep bevel angles that can be used to print directly on corrugated materials.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Inventors: Edwin N. Publication number: 20100218695Abstract: A coating designed to transfer on impact from a ballistic projectile onto a target. Due to the many possible applications for which this might find use, it has been designed to allow as open-ended a range of application as possible by separating the requirements of the marking system from the requirements of the projectile substrate. To this end the coating is designed to be applied to a wide range of materials and shapes. The coating itself is therefore independent of whatever carrier it is coated onto which allows the carrier to be selected for its own suitability for the application rather than conditional upon compatibility with the marking system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2009Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: GRUDGE TACTICAL INC.Inventors: Kevin Kirkpatrick, Ruben Kinet

Publication number: 20100218696Abstract: A projectile structured to be discharged from a firearm includes a body having a nose portion and a tail portion separable from one another when the projectile strikes a target. The body further includes an interface disposed intermediate opposite ends of the body of the projectile structured to removably interconnect the nose and tail portions. Separation of the nose and tail portions such as when striking a soft tissue is caused by the tumbling of the projectile and the cooperative structuring of the interface to facilitate separation of the nose and tail portions. The interface is disposed, dimensioned and structured to define the primary area of contact of the projectile body with the rifling or interior surface of the barrel of the firearm. Another embodiment includes one of the nose or tail portions structured to contain a supplemental payload that is carried to the target upon discharge of the firearm.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Inventor: PJ Marx
