Abstract: Methods for roll-to-roll deposition of optically transparent and high conductivity metallic thin films are disclosed. In general, a method according to the present invention comprises: (1) providing a flexible plastic substrate; (2) depositing a multi-layered conductive metallic film on the flexible plastic substrate by a thin-film deposition technique to form a composite film; and (3) collecting the composite film in continuous rolls. Typically, the thin conductive metallic film is an InCeO—Ag—InCeO film. Typically, the thin-film deposition technique is DC magnetron sputtering. Another aspect of the invention is a composite film produced by a method according to the present invention.

Abstract: In a fuel cell system, leakage of a fuel and a by-product produced in oxidizing a fuel, and leakage thereof out of a fuel cell by evaporation are prevented. For this purpose, in a fuel cell system comprising an electrogenerating portion having a fuel electrode, an oxidant electrode and an electrolyte sandwiched between the fuel electrode and the oxidant electrode; a fuel accommodating container accommodating a fuel to be supplied to the fuel electrode; a fuel supplying portion supplying a fuel from the fuel accommodating container to the electrogenerating portion; and a fuel discharging portion connected to the fuel electrode, the fuel accommodating container, the fuel supplying portion, the fuel electrode and the fuel discharging portion are air-tightly connected.

Abstract: The present invention provides a semiconductor device that reduces the junction leak current and achieves an improvement in the reliability of the gate oxide film by minimizing divot formation and the occurrence of a kink and a method of manufacturing such a semiconductor device. A pad oxide film and a silicon nitride film are formed on an Si substrate and a groove-like trench is formed through photolithography and etching. The liner oxide of the trench are oxidized through oxidizing/nitriding. Then, the trench is filled with an insulating film, the insulating film is planarized and the silicon nitride film and the pad oxide film are removed. Next, a field area is formed and a transistor is formed by following specific steps. By forming a trench liner oxide film containing nitrogen, stress is reduced.

Abstract: A method of forming a planarized photoresist coating on a substrate having holes with different duty ratios is described. A first photoresist preferably comprised of a Novolac resin and a diazonaphthoquinone photoactive compound is coated on a substrate and baked at or slightly above its Tg so that it reflows and fills the holes. The photoresist is exposed without a mask at a dose that allows the developer to thin the photoresist to a recessed depth within the holes. After the photoresist is hardened with a 250° C. bake, a second photoresist is coated on the substrate to form a planarized film with a thickness variation of less than 50 Angstroms between low and high duty ratio hole regions. One application is where the second photoresist is used to form a trench pattern in a via first dual damascene method. Secondly, the method is useful in fabricating MIM capacitors.

Abstract: A box adaptor with a revolvable socket dome is introduced to have a housing and at least a dome structure. The housing further include a bracket plate. The dome structure further includes a collar shaft at one end for forming a revolvable pair with the bracket plate and a dome surface at another end. At least a socket is constructed to a rim of the dome surface, with a facing direction perpendicular to the dome surface. By providing the engagement of the collar shaft and the bracket plate, the socket can change its facing direction as the respective dome structure revolves about the bracket plate.

Abstract: A connector jack usable with a plug having a plurality of plug contacts. The jack includes a body having a receptacle sized and configured to receive the plug therein, a circuit board, and a plurality of contact tines extending within the receptacle. Each tine has a first end fixedly attached to the circuit board and a second free end, and is positioned in the receptacle for contact by a corresponding one of the plug contacts and moved in response thereto in a first direction as the plug is inserted into the receptacle. The jack also includes a plurality of resilient spring members extending within the receptacle, each positioned adjacent to a corresponding one of the tines to be engaged thereby when moved in the first direction by the corresponding plug contact as the plug is inserted into the receptacle, and apply a supplemental force thereto to increase contact force and tine resiliency.

Abstract: A time/location information delivery system that provides focused advertising and/or other information to individuals based on the time and their location. A wireless identification device is carried by an individual and can be read from or written to when the individual passes by interrogators in a specific geographic location. The detectors read ID information embedded in the wireless identification device. A computer uses the ID and location information to select, from a list of information providers, those information providers which provide information content identifiable or correlated to a location and/or time, and is of interest to the individual. The information content can be forwarded to the individual by a variety of information channels. One channel uses conventional Internet email to deliver advertisements and other information to the individual's Internet mailbox.

Abstract: A headset storage device includes a headset cradle, a switch and a manual override device. The headset cradle has two positions: a first position when the headset cradle is supporting a headset and a second position when the headset cradle is not supporting a headset. The switch couples the audio signal to the alternate audio system when the headset cradle is in the first position and to the headset when the headset cradle is in the second position. The manual override device forces the headset cradle into one of the two positions regardless of whether the headset cradle is supporting a headset.

Abstract: A SIMD machine employing a plurality of parallel processor (PEs) in which communications hazards are eliminated in an efficient manner. An indirect Very Long Instruction Word instruction memory (VIM) is employed along with execute and delimiter instructions. A masking mechanism may be employed to control which PEs have their VIMs loaded. Further, a receive model of operation is preferably employed. In one aspect, each PE operates to control a switch that selects from which PE it receives. The present invention addresses a better machine organization for execution of parallel algorithms that reduces hardware cost and complexity while maintaining the best characteristics of both SIMD and MIMD machines and minimizing communication latency. This invention brings a level of MIMD computational autonomy to SIMD indirect Very Long Instruction Word (iVLIW) processing elements while maintaining the single thread of control used in the SIMD machine organization.

Abstract: A method of generating timing signals for a charge-coupled device. A plurality of input timing signals produced by an application specific integrated circuit according to a system clock is transmitted to the charge-coupled device. The programmable timing signals for the charge-coupled device are produced by determining the position of each cycle for these input timing signal, adjusting each cycle of the input timing signals in each system clock cycle and downloading their relationship into the application specific integrated circuit by programming.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process and a device for handling the execution of a job in an open data processing system as a function of the resources. The process comprises the steps of: determining system resources available in virtual memory, real memory, temporary file space, and central processing unit utilization time during a given interval; computing the amount of resources preallocated to other requests and not yet used; comparing the amount of resources required for the execution of a job for which the request has been presented to the current amount of resources available minus the total amount of resources preallocated to other requests, in order to determine as a function of the result of this comparison the start, the deference or the denial of the start of the job requested The present invention relates to a process and a device for handling the execution of a job in an open data processing system as a function of the resources.

Abstract: A digital broadcasting receiver capable of receiving HD (High Definition) broadcasting, SD (Standard Definition) broadcasting and the like. In the digital broadcasting receiver, a digital broadcasting signal subjected to demodulation is separated/divided in a transport unit before being supplied to decoders. Data on a packet ID included in the digital broadcasting signal is outputted from the transport unit. An MPU determines HD broadcasting or SD broadcasting according to the data on the packet ID and when the MPU determines the SD broadcasting, it instructs the transport unit to have a set subchannel displayed and also instructs an OSD control unit to make an OSD of the subchannel.

Abstract: A user terminal exchanges information with a server through a transmission medium. A coupling unit couples the user terminal to the transmission medium in accordance with information from the server. Likewise, the server is controlled in accordance with information from the user terminal. In this manner, communication is created and performed between the server and the user terminal. The user terminal may be a Set-Top Unit which may be adjusted to the transmission medium by, for example, a physical medium converter or the communication itself between the Set-Top Unit and the server may be adjusted as directed by programs installed in the Set-Top Unit which may originate from the server.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for transferring from a broadcaster to a receiver a limited reproduction right in data. A signal indicating the limited reproduction right is transmitted by the broadcaster and stored by the receiver with the data. The receiver reproduces and processes the data as a function of this signal.

Abstract: A foldable one-piece insert worn between the bra and the body having irritation reducing and/or absorbent material portions which line the bra cup and that lie under the supported breast, and portions which extends toward the torso rear under the bra side straps and a portion extending below the bra line along the torso. The invention further includes a material tab disposed between the material portions lining the bra cups, which can optionally be worn up to bridge the area between the bra cups for added protection, comfort and absorption of perspiration, or be folded down and out of sight when worn with lower cut neckline outer garments.

Abstract: For uniformed personnel a shirt and pants Class A dress uniform having one or more Class B work uniform type of structural features which render it more functional, more comfortable and more attractive. More specifically, this new uniform includes a shirttail retainer, a microphone sling and an internal hidden and secure cargo pocket on each leg or combinations of one or more of these features. The shirttail retainer utilizes spaced apart silicone rubber friction strips on the outer surface near the waist which cooperate with a friction strip on the inner surface of the pants waistband. The microphone sling hangs from a button on the shoulder hidden beneath the shoulder epaulet. The internal cargo pocket is on the inner surface of the outer leg wall.

Abstract: A high-visibility covering is removably attached to a firefighter turnout coat at the shoulders and front closure by easily separable fasteners so that the assemblage can be donned as a single coat and the high-visibility covering can be easily ripped off. In one embodiment, the covering is a single panel that wraps around the coat, extending from the shoulders to the waist or hips. In another embodiment, the covering is composed of three panels, two front panels and a back panel. Front shoulder straps on the covering are removably attached to the front of the turnout coat at the shoulders. Back shoulder straps on the panel overlap and are removably attached to the corresponding front shoulder straps. In the three panel embodiment, the back panel has a pair of lappets that overlap and are removably attached to the corresponding front panel.

Abstract: An article of apparel is disclosed that includes an electronic device. The apparel is at least partially formed from a material element that defines an aperture. Abstract: An apparatus and method to assure that the lid of a toilet is always in the down position when the toilet is flushed. This will prevent the toilet lid being left in an open position. The apparatus comprises a mechanism for connecting the toilet lid to the flushing mechanism of a toilet so that the toilet lid must be in the down position for the toilet to be flushed.

Abstract: A wheelchair with enhanced toilet access has a frame including a pair of laterally-separated side frame portions, with primary wheels as well as at least one secondary wheel rotatably mounted on the frame. A seat extends between the side frame portions, and includes a stationary portion and a movable portion. The stationary portion has an opening and the movable portion is positionable in the opening. The movable portion is pivotable between a normal position that closes the opening in the stationary portion and a dropped position that opens the opening in the stationary portion. A seat moving mechanism is configured to move the movable portion of the seat with respect to the stationary portion to thereby move the movable portion between the normal and dropped positions.

Abstract: Disclosed is a water discharge device (1) provided with a device body (2) and a connector (4) and adapted to be attached to a feedwater pipe (6). The water discharge device comprises fixing means (8) for fixing the device body to the connector at a given installation position. The connector has a feedwater-pipe-joining portion (4a) adapted to be joined to the feedwater pipe, and a connector-side engaging thread portion (4b), and the device body has a body-side engaging thread portion (14) positioned in such a manner as to be engaged with the connector-side engaging thread portion once during an operation of attaching the device body to the connector, and located beyond the connector-side engaging thread portion after the device body is fixed at the installation position. The water discharge device of the present invention can reliably prevent falling-off of the device body.

Abstract: A mesh crib bumper enclosure having four connected vertical mesh fabric panel sections installed in a crib by suspending it from top and bottom corners and securing it to four corner posts. The enclosure panels are stretched tightly between the corner posts using a locking fastener. The mesh fabric panels allow air to circulate through the crib to prevent exhaled carbon dioxide from building up. The enclosure corners receive vertical support members for vertical structural integrity while top and bottom edges can receive horizontal support members for horizontal structural integrity. The enclosure bottom corners use tie string fasteners to secure the enclosure to bottom crib rails to keep the bottom edges in contact the mattress. Other embodiments use a mesh panel base attached to the enclosure bottom and/or a mesh panel sealable top for sealing off the top to prevent insects and animals from entering the mesh crib bumper enclosure.

Abstract: A bed skirt enhancing apparatus for placement adjacent and beneath a bed skirt. In one embodiment, the bed skirt enhancing apparatus comprises multiple layers of rigid material gathered and joined together forming a ruffled, multi-layered sheath. The sheath spans a distance sufficient to surround a perimeter of a box spring of a mattress. A band or planar piece of fabric may be used for securing the sheath to the box spring. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, a ruffle insert for placement beneath a bed skirt comprises a planar panel, and a suspended ruffle skirt; whereby said suspended ruffle skirt comprises multiple layers of material; and whereby said multiple layers of material are held together by at least one monofilament latitudinal band.

Abstract: This invention relates generally to a body pillow and support system. Due to the need for additional support, pregnant women often encounter difficulty sleeping. The support pregnant women typically need is not just for their head, but for their abdomen, back and/or legs. Many pregnant women find themselves hot or cold as well as hot on one part of their body and cold on a different part of their body. All of these conditions are usually met by the pregnant woman finding several pillows and stuffing those same pillows all around her when she is trying to get some rest. This invention also is useful for a diverse group of people who need soft support to rest or recuperate and is not limited to women who are pregnant.

Abstract: Window cleaning cloths are repetitively conditioned for cleaning windows in a commercial car wash by processing the cloths in a washer-extractor having in sequence a wash cycle, a first rinse and spin cycle and a final rinse and spin cycle. A detergent and degreaser are added to the water used in the wash cycle. A window cleaning solution is added to the rinse water used in the final rinse and spin cycle to saturate the cloths with a diluted mixture of water and window cleaning solution. A substantial portion of the diluted mixture of final rinse water and window cleaning solution is removed during the final rinse and spin cycle to provide a window cleaning cloth uniformly dampened with window cleaning solution for cleaning windows without necessity of spray application of cleaning solution. The cloths are reprocessed and used in the same manner.

Abstract: As typically embodied, the inventive ramp system for bridging between structures (e.g., marine vessels) includes a hydraulic elevator device and a ramp unit. The ramp unit includes three adjoining planar members, the ramp member (the main ramp body) being pivotably connected at each end to one of the two platform members. The hydraulic elevator device includes the coaxial combination of a cylinder and a piston, the piston being translatable along and pivotable about the axis. The cylinder-piston combination is secured, axis vertical, to a first structure, with one of the ramp unit's platform members attached atop the piston. In order to position the other (unattached) platform member upon a selected (e.g., horizontal) location of a second structure, the ramp unit is configurable in terms of the attached platform member's height, the ramp unit's horizontal rotation angle, and the respective vertical rotation angles of the ramp unit's two pivotable connections.

The biasing mechanism (82) is designed to bias the movement of the web (94) onto the take-up roller (58), such that the mechanism (82) can be selectively operated to advance the web (94) from the supply roller (56) to the take-up roller (58) to expose a clean section of the adhesive sheet material (94).

Abstract: A combination tool having utility in tile installation procedures includes a wide blade adapted to remove excess grout and caulk in relatively large quantities, a four-armed cement remover and grout joint spacer, a spherical grout packer and a “V”-shaped grout and caulk profiler adapted to be secured to a hollow handle in varying combinations. In a first embodiment, the wide blade is attached to a first end of the handle and the four-armed cement remover-grout joint spacer and the spherical packer are releasably secured to a second end of the handle. A second embodiment includes the blade at the first end and the “V”-shaped profiler at the second end in lieu of the cement remover and packer. The hollow handle provides a storage compartment for additional packers. The tool may be made of material that floats in water. The handle may also have a non-hollow web construction.

Abstract: An inter-dental brush device has a handle with a cartridge removably housed therein. The cartridge has a plurality of chambers each appointed for housing at least one replaceable inter-dental brush. The cartridge is appointed to be rotated to align and select one of the chambers for feed out of the selected inter-dental brush. A base portion is removably attached to the handle, which includes rotation engagement means adapted to interact with the cartridge for rotational engagement, alignment and selection of the chamber and visa vie the inter-dental brush housed therein. An oral portion is removably attached to the other end of the handle, and includes an aperture for feeding out the selected inter-dental brush. A delivery means in association with the handle and the oral portion is provided and is adapted to feed out the selected inter-dental brush. Used, worn out brush is removed or cut off by an optional slidable cutter provided on the brush device.

Furthermore, an outer parallel wiper arm which is connected to the inner parallel wiper arm and bears the wiper blade is arranged on the inner parallel wiper arm. The two pivot arms are driven by the wiper motor to which they are connected in terms of drive at their limbs on the drive side.

Abstract: A windshield wiper arm including a rear end segment fixed to a shaft driving the windshield wiper arm in an alternating wiping movement about the global and vertical axis, a free front segment for supporting a wiper blade, and an intermediate segment with a longitudinal orientation which is at least partly elastically deformable and which links the rear end segment to the free front segment, wherein the intermediate segment includes a longitudinal central web which is covered with an outer sleeve, wherein at least one portion of the longitudinal central web includes a multilayer plate made of globally horizontal superimposed layers of different materials and thickness, and wherein the multilayer plate comprises at least one layer made of a composite material.

Abstract: A retractable hose assembly for a central vacuum system includes a PVC conduit mounted behind a wall within at least one room on each floor of a building. The conduit includes an elbow at a lower end that extends to the outlet of a wall-mounted vacuum receptacle. Received within the conduit is an elongated, length-extendable hose formed of helical spring wire encompassed by a flexible layer. The helical wire allows the hose to be manually extended to approximately six times its collapsed length. When the hose is released, it retracts completely within the conduit with its inlet concealed behind the wall-mounted receptacle. By simply pulling the hose from the conduit, a user can extend it significantly to access one or more rooms on a given level.

Abstract: A portable cleaning apparatus comprises a base module for movement along a surface, the base module having a front portion, an upright handle pivotally attached to the base module, a cleaning liquid dispensing system for applying a cleaning liquid to a surface to be cleaned, an agitation assembly associated with the base module, and a vacuum inlet associated with the base module, the improvement comprising a blower assembly associated with one of the base module and the upright handle for blowing air tangentially across the surface to dry the surface.

Abstract: A furniture glide for installation in the leg of an article of furniture. The glide, which strongly resists removal after installation, includes a head portion having a center, a ground engaging side, and a furniture facing side, a stem disposed from the center of the furniture facing side of the head, and a plurality of truncated conical flutes, each having an angled side and a flat side and including at least one recess so as to create and define a plurality of anchor points that grip the interior side of an installation socket and effectively prohibit rotation and removal of the glide. In a preferred embodiment, one or more of the flute may be shaped eccentrically relative to the other flutes so as to accentuate its anchor points. A fin may be added to one or more of the flutes to provide auxiliary structure for resisting rotation.

The door check further includes an arm guide including a housing, including a guide mount for mounting the housing to the vehicle door or frame, and a guideway for receiving the arm. The arm guide also includes two generally facing arm engaging structures mounted within the housing for receiving the arm therebetween. Each arm engaging structure faces its respective arm surface. The arm guide includes a spring between the housing and the second arm engaging structure. The spring biases that structure towards the first arm engaging structure to urge these structures into contact with the respective arm surfaces restricting longitudinal movement of the arm through the guideway.

Each of the first and second end portions includes a cavity adapted to receive an end insert formed of soft material. Each of the end inserts includes an attaching member. The handle is mounted to a front face of the door through interengagment of the attachment members and base members provided on the door without scratching the surface of the door.

Abstract: An adjustable handling apparatus comprising an object to handle and at least one detachable handle. The object comprises at least one attachment part. Each of the handles comprises one handle body or a plurality of connected handle bodies. Each handle body comprises a gripping part and at least one attachment part. Attachment parts comprise a predetermined number of engagement components. Each of handle engagement components is adapted to engage with each of predetermined object engagement components allowing the handle to be oriented about the object differently for maximum comfort. The density of the engagement components limits the number of positions the handle can be oriented about the object. An engagement profile is positioned on the exterior surface at a first end of the shaft. A cable guide is positioned in an intermediate position between the first end and the second end of the shaft, the cable guide being oriented transversely to the shaft. A cable is prevented from removal from the cable guide by the second end of the shaft.

Abstract: The present invention includes a baby bottle liner constructed and arranged to fit into a cavity of a baby bottle. The baby bottle liner includes a continuous, profiled, elongated reclosable fastener. The continuous, profiled, elongated reclosable fastener has a first continuous elongated profile strip and a second continuous elongated profile strip. The first continuous elongated profile strip and the second continuous elongated profile strip are dimensioned to provide an airtight and/or watertight seal upon interconnection thereof. The baby bottle liner further comprises an airtight and watertight side seal at each end of the reclosable fastener. Each side seal connects an end of the reclosable fastener to an inside surface of a front wall and an inside surface of a back wall of the liner. The invention also provides a baby bottle with a baby bottle liner and a kit for infant nursing that has a plurality of baby bottle liners.
