The clipping information can be specified as a clip distance from a ray origin, as an end value of a parametric ray definition, or alternatively the clipping information can be built into a definition of the ray to be traced. The clipping information can be used to check whether portions of an acceleration structure need to be traversed, as well as whether primitives should be tested for intersection. Other aspects include specifying a default object that can be returned as intersected when no primitive was intersected within the sub-portion defined for testing. Further aspects include allowing provision of flags interpretable by an intersection testing resource that control what the intersection testing resource does, and/or what information it reports after conclusion of testing of a ray.

Logical relationships are inferred based on actions associated with shapes, groupings, and attributes of shapes/groupings taken by the author. Feedback mechanisms are provided to communicate an underlying structure to the author. Intelligent behaviors are enabled to expose manipulation of diagrams based on their logical structure.

Abstract: A digital photo frame (DPF) includes a power source, a power management unit, a display panel, a backlight unit, a touch sensing unit and a processing unit. The display panel includes a reflective structure. The power management unit is used to manage the power supply from the power source to the DPF. The touch sensing unit is used to produce a touch signal when detecting the DPF is touched by a user. The processing unit receives the touch signal, and controls the management unit to discontinue the power from the power source to the backlight unit, therefore display panel reflects images via the reflective structure.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a first scaler, a second scaler, a generator, a coefficient assigner, and a blender. The first scaler converts the number of pixels of an image signal to scale up it according to control information set based on characteristic information. The second scaler converts the number of pixels of the image signal scaled up by the first scaler to further scale up it. The generator estimates an original pixel value from the image signal to increase the pixels, and generates an image signal with a resolution higher than that of the image signal scaled up by the first scaler. The coefficient assigner assigns a coefficient to the image signal generated by the generator according to the characteristic information or the control information. The blender blends the image signal generated by the generator with the image signal scaled up by the second scaler.

Abstract: A method is performed at a multifunction device with a touch screen display. The method includes displaying a text entry interface with a soft keyboard in a first area and a viewing area with a first size to display scrollable information. The method detects a finger gesture on the viewing area, and responds to the gesture. When the viewing area displays only a portion of the information, the response includes: (1) ceasing to display the soft keyboard, (2) expanding the viewing area to a second size, including at least some of the first area, and (3) scrolling the information in the expanded viewing area. When the viewing area with the first size displays all of the information, the response includes: (1) maintaining display of the soft keyboard, (2) keeping the viewing area at the first size, and (3) moving the information in the viewing area based on the finger gesture.

Abstract: An illumination device includes a light source section with white LEDs on a side of a light guide plate. The white LED includes a first white LED and a second white LED, and they emit light of different chromaticities. In a chromaticity diagram, a white color area is divided into two subareas by a dividing line passing through a target chromaticity; light emitted by the first white LED falls within a first subarea, and light emitted by the second white LED falls within a second subarea. By individually controlling the light emission of the first white LED and the second white LED, it is possible to emanate a desired white light from the light guide plate.
