  • Patent number: 7845082
Abstract: A hand tool for cutting includes a first handle, a second handle pivotably connected to the first handle, and a cutting head including a fixed first blade and a pivotable second blade to provide cutting action with the first blade. The first and second handles are movable between a fully retracted configuration and a fully extended configuration to selectively adjust the length of the handles. The cutting head is selectively rotatable about a central longitudinal axis and carries the blades upon rotation of the cutting head to move the blades between a plurality of different orientations relative to the first and second handles. The cutting head includes a connector operably connecting the second handle and the second blade so that pivoting motion of the second handle moves the second blade relative to the first blade to provide cutting action therebetween.

  • Patent number: 7845087
Abstract: A magnetically damped inclinometer has a shaft with attached pendulum that rotates. The rotation causes an index member to rotate past one or a set of magnets or electromagnets that are connected to the load. The magnet or electromagnet may be mounted directly to the load or it may be in the form of an off center ring. Another embodiment uses a spring to bias two magnets apart. A cam is attached to the shaft such that, as the pendulum and shaft rotate, a roller connected with the load or spreader bar allows the spring to push the magnets farther apart. The damped inclinometers are used to determine and provide information to respond to the initial sway of a load prior to bringing the load to a stop.

  • Patent number: 7845093
Abstract: The tape measure apparatus has a rule blade that is retractably stored in the tape measure apparatus and protrudes when extended during use. For measurements, the rule blade has graduated indicia markings along the rule blade. An end-piece attached to the rule blade has an aperture for receiving a marking instrument to mark and scribe on a work piece and a blade slot for receiving and supporting a blade. There is also a protective shield guide that protects the fingers from slivers and cuts. It has a pivot attachment between the protective shield and the guide. The pivot moves the protective shield into a stored position generally parallel to the rule blade, and in a working position generally perpendicular the rule blade. The guide is slidable along the rule blade. The entire protective shield guide slidably moves into the housing. Thus, the entire protective shield guide disappears and is protected from any outside force by being inside the housing when not in use.

Abstract: An access control apparatus has a blocking device (1) that is actuated by an actuator, and an authentication reader (7), upon reading a valid access authorization the blocking device (1) moving into the release position. For detecting a wheel chair (15) and/or pram in the area of the blocking device (1) a sensor (13) is provided, which does not activate the actuator for moving the blocking device (1) from the release position into the blocking position until the wheel chair (15) or pram has left its detection area.

  • Patent number: 7845116
Abstract: When a sliding door (3) as a plate-like object is moved in a front and rear direction from a closed position to an opening preparation position, a rotatable rail (20) rotates from a horizontal lying position to a vertical standing position about a rotation axis (L1). When the sliding door is in the opening preparation position, a roller (40) of the sliding door (3) rides on a running track (25b) of the rotatable rail (20). When the sliding door (3) is further moved from the opening preparation position to an open position, the roller (40) transfers from the running track (25b) to an auxiliary track (26) of an adjacent rotatable rail (20). The rotatable rail (20) is biased toward the standing position by an elastic force of a torsion spring (18) and maintained in the standing position by an arm (13). This allows the sliding door (3) to be returned to the opening preparation position.

  • Patent number: 7845117
Abstract: This invention concerns an arch structure. In particular, the invention relates to an arch structure comprised of at least two segments which are rotatably linked to each other via hinges or equivalent means to form a continuous bendable chain of attached segments. The segments have magnets above the rotatable or hinged link on opposed end faces, positioned to oppose magnets on confronting end faces of adjacent arch segments, with like poles facing one another, thereby creating a repulsion force. The repulsion force inhibits the arch segments from being brought together and into contact. Due to this effect, the aggregate of the arch segments define an arcuate path (convex upward), maintained by the repulsion forces of the magnets.

Abstract: According to the invention, a method of making an eave for a roof on a building is disclosed. The method may include providing a structure with at least two sides and a roof frame. The method may further include coupling at least two of a plurality of eave blocks with a first trim piece. The method may also include coupling at least two of the plurality of eave blocks with a second trim piece. The method may further include coupling a roof piece with a top of the roof frame and a top of at least two of the plurality of eave blocks. In some embodiments, the eave blocks may include lumber having a grain direction and the method may include coupling the eave blocks with the first trim piece such that the grain direction is substantially parallel to a length of the first trim piece.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for attaching at least one acoustic panel (1) to a wall (P) characterized by having first attaching means (10) associated with wall (P) and second attaching means (20) associated with said acoustic panel(s) (1), said first (10) and second (20) attaching means being connected to each other by elastic connecting means (30). By adjusting the elasticity of the connecting means, the frequency of each acoustic panel can be individually tuned to treat the various sound frequency ranges. In addition, the device according to the invention enables the acoustic panels to be disconnected from the wall on which they are mounted, thus increasing the insulation of the room.

Abstract: Disclosed is an embedment tile for producing a tactilely detectable surface in a moldable material and method for using same. The tile comprises a tile member substantially planar in form, having a pattern of upwardly extending projections on its upper surface forming a tactilely detectable pattern and two or more cross beams on the lower surface of the tile member, the cross beams having hollow chambers defined by a sidewall, end openings and optional apertures to allow for the release of air and moldable material from the exterior into the hollow chambers of the cross beams as the tile is embedded in the material, thus easing and speeding installation of the tile in the moldable material. The embedment tile may further consist of support members that function to support and further interlock the embedment tile to the moldable material once set.

Abstract: To reduce the weight of a staircase block so as to be manually carried and installed, prevent adjacent blocks from being displaced from each other after installation, and prevent the blocks from being raised and separated from each other due to heating and cooling by conquering problems with the staircase blocks related to publicly known technologies. In this precast concrete block for building a staircase, large recesses (2) and (9) are formed in the rise surface (1) and the rear surface (8) of the block to reduce the weight, and displacement prevention grooves (7) for connecting the adjacent blocks to each other with mortar are formed in the side faces of the block, and round parts (partially cylindrical recessed surfaces) (10) with a specified radius are formed at the inner corner parts of the recess (9) in the rear surface so that an acute angle part preventing the adhesive mortar from being filled therein is not produced.

The front base piece is anchored to a support structure of a building and has a glazing channel facing the safe side of the window, to receive therein the glazing. The glazing stop piece is secured to the front base piece and thereby holds the glazing in its channel. The rear base piece is secured to the front base piece and thereby laterally closes the frame section. The base pieces are shaped so that an end portion of the front base overlaps an end portion of the rear base and a number of fasteners are installed through these end portions to secure the base pieces to each other. Other embodiments are also described and claimed.
