Abstract: A computer-based apparatus and method for the storing, matching and communicating of post-trade settlement information for securities trades among institutional investors, broker-dealers, agents and interested parties using an enhanced matching process. With the present invention the traditional sequence of communications for trade settlement involving notices of order execution, institution allocation instructions, confirmations and affirmations is replaced by a system which matches the notice of order execution and the institution allocation instruction across designated fields within these records.

Abstract: A system and method for accommodating financial risk calculations in a relational database schema is disclosed. The database schema scales to accommodate a variety of risk calculations by utilizing a name/value pair approach associated with a market factor. Risk calculation definitions are explicitly and unambiguously defined by associating risk numbers with market factors that have been perturbed while calculating them.

Abstract: The present invention discloses apparatuses, systems and methods for providing optimal hedge portfolios that minimize single stock idiosyncratic risk for a given level of transactional costs. This is accomplished by deriving hedge portfolios with the maximum effective n for various levels of transaction costs. In one exemplary embodiment the maximum effective n portfolios are derived by starting with a sample portfolio, such as a capital weighted index, and using a hill climbing algorithm to iteratively modify the sample portfolio to map out the optimal effective n portfolios.

Abstract: A current mortgage price indicator futures contract (“Mortgage Futures Contract”) that can be traded on a futures exchange is described. The contracts add value over existing hedging and speculating alternatives by meeting the needs of a wide range of mortgage and mortgage-backed securities (MBS) market participants such as portfolio managers, dealers, hedgers, originators, speculators and arbitrageurs. The Mortgage Futures Contract is based upon conventional MBS and has a relatively current coupon composition, thereby resulting in risk properties that appeal to market participants more so than prior contracts based on non-conventional MBS that were not correlated to current MBS production. The Mortgage Futures Contract has a cash settlement feature designed to eliminate complicated and largely uneconomic physical delivery of the underlying security. A options contract corresponding to the Mortgage Futures Contract and that can be traded on a futures exchange is also described.

If the credit request is approved by the credit analysis module, the credit analysis module generates a conditional offer and the credit request device directs the customer to a point of sale system, such as a cash register, within the sales location, for manual verification of the customer's identity by an employee of the merchant. If the conditional offer is accepted and the identity of the customer is verified at the point of sale system, an activation module operates to establish a credit account. The system also includes an authorization module operable to determine whether to authorize use of the credit account to make a purchase.

The method includes receiving information related to the loan and determining a loan repurchase risk based on the information. The information may be used to determine a joint probability of an underwriting discrepancy sufficient to trigger a repurchase request and an adverse event in connection with the loan, such as default or delinquency. A repurchase report may provide feedback regarding factors contributing to a repurchase risk. In one embodiment, depending on the repurchase risk, the purchaser may waive repurchase rights in connection with the loan, thereby reducing the requirements of the seller to reserve capital for the loan.

Abstract: A content providing server connected to a home network or the like is configured in such a way as to store a content key, which is encrypted by a network key shared by network-connected devices and appropriately updated, in a storage together with encrypted content, and as to hold a network key table in which all network keys including all pre-update network keys, which are being applied to encrypted content keys, are registered and stored. This server performs a key changing operation of changing a content key, which is encrypted by a pre-update network key, to an encrypted key, to which an updated network key is applied, only when needed, for example, at an occurrence of utilization of the content. Consequently, this configuration prevents key changing operations from being wastefully performed. Thus, the processing load on the server is alleviated.

A software provider server connected to the substitute license server via a network connection downloads a temporary identification and application files having the temporary identification to the substitute license server to allow the substitute license server to process the application file usage requests that are received by the substitute license controller.

The grant management application determines an exclusion status for the grant requestor by comparing the registration information to the exclusion list. The grant requestor is informed of its exclusion status via the web-based portal. If the grant requestor's exclusion status is satisfactory, then the web-based portal receives grant information pertaining to a grant sought. Based on the grant information and the registration information, a custom set of business rules is derived to automatically manage the receipt, review, tracking, reconciliation and analysis of the grant sought.

Abstract: The first fast solution to the problem of tracking wavelet representations of one-dimensional and multi-dimensional data streams based on a stream synopsis, the Group-Count Sketch (GCS) is provided. By imposing a hierarchical structure of groups over the data and applying the GCS, our algorithms can quickly recover the most important wavelet coefficients with guaranteed accuracy. A tradeoff between query time and update time is established, by varying the hierarchical structure of groups, allowing the right balance to be found for specific data streams. Experimental analysis confirmed this tradeoff, and showed that all the methods significantly outperformed previously known methods in terms of both update time and query time, while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Abstract: A minimized journaling mechanism stores minimized journal data in a format that allows for display and outputting the journal data in human-readable form. When a change to a record occurs, instead of writing only the changed bytes, all of the bytes in each field that changed are written to the journal, along with all of the bytes in each field selected to be always journaled. A default object is created with default data in all of the fields. When the journal entry needs to be output in human-readable form, the default object is read, and the minimized journal entry is then overlaid on the default object. The result is an object that contains default data in all non-selected fields that were not changed, with the journal data in all fields and that did change and in all fields that were selected to always be journaled.

The journal entry includes an opcode and update data for the track. The opcode identifies the type of update to be performed and the number of tracks to be updated in the operation. Each of the other metadata tracks is staged and a corresponding journal entry stored. The journaled updates are then applied to the respective metadata track in the cache storage and the tracks destaged from cache to the disk storage.

Abstract: In distributed storage environments, nodes may send replicated writes for temporal volumes and may be configured to request on-demand consistency intervals in order to allow multiple nodes to transition between timestamps for temporal data in a uniform and coordinated manner. In response to a request from a node for a consistency interval transition, a consistency interval coordinator may end a current consistency interval and start another and may provide coordination to various nodes to enable the nodes to transition from one timestamp to another, and thus from one temporal version to another, while prevent data corruption or inconsistency between the temporal versions. Additionally, periodic consistency intervals may be utilized to provide consistent and coordinated transitions between temporal timestamps. In some embodiments, replicated writes including temporal timestamp information may be stored persistent spillover logs allowing offline updating and versioning of data to temporal volumes.
