  • Patent number: RE42124
Abstract: Fiber-optic beam routing and amplitude control modules based on a unique fault-tolerant scheme using a macro-pixel to control an optical beam are proposed. The unique macro-pixel method involving multiple device pixels per beam inherently provides a robust digital technique for module control while adding to the optical beam alignment tolerance and resistance to catastropic failure for the overall module. The macropixel approach solves the speed versus alignment and failure sensitivity dilemma present in single pixel element based optical micromechanical systems (MEMS). Specifically proposed are fault tolerant fiber-optic attenuators and switches using several microactuated micromirrors per optical beam. Transmissive and reflective module geometries are proposed using small tilt and small distance piston-action micromirrors, leading to fast module reconfiguration speed fiber optic signal controls. The macro-pixel design approach is extended to other pixel technologies such as polarization rotating pixels.

Each of the one or more key entries is associated with a key tag corresponding to one of one or more subclasses of the data class. The apparatus is further equipped with logic coupled to the CAM to extract a data key from a data stream, to compare all or part of the data key with the one or more key entries to determine if the data key is a member of the data class, and to classify the data key as belonging to one of the one or more subclasses of the data class if the data key is determined to be a member of data class.

  • Patent number: 7882567
Abstract: A baseball or softball glove includes a strap to provide a compressive force across the fingers of a hand inserted into the glove. The compressive force facilitates the snapping the glove to catch and secure a ball. Additionally, the ring finger and the pinky finger may be inserted into the same finger stall of the glove to compensate for the weakness of the ring finger in making the snapping motion. The glove is still given the appearance of providing a separate finger stall for each finger. A guide wall is placed across the entrance to the unused finger stall to maneuver the ring finger into the pinky stall.
