Abstract: Botanically derived compositions of fuel oxygenates are provided, as well as methods of making the same. The compositions are produced from extracts of plant tissues, and unexpectedly contain aliphatic ethers and alcohols in useful concentrations. These compositions represent sources of oxygenates such as MTBE, ETBE, DIPE, TAME, ETBE and TBA from non-mineral sources, allowing them to be produced domestically in countries without mineral hydrocarbon resources and allowing them to be combusted without any net addition of carbon dioxide to the atmosphere.

Abstract: A combustible solid fuel source in the form of a log is formed from a base material of a cellulosic or fibrous organic material which is compressed in a screw press up to 20,000 pounds to a density in the range 50 to 85 lbs/cu ft. The log is cut to length and partly immersed in a bath of a combustible vegetable oil which absorbed into the base material as it slightly expands such that the content of oil is less than 50% by weight and generally of the order of 30% where the log is dry to the touch and the oil is entirely contained without the need for an external covering of wax or the like. The base material is selected from lumber, agricultural waste or animal waste to contain fibers such that the content of ash when the source has been fully combusted is generally less than 2% by weight with very little contaminants.

Abstract: A fast pyrolysis system employs a plant for use in the processing of bio-fuels. The plant includes a base frame having a first end and a second end, as well as a first lateral side and a second lateral side. The plant also includes an inlet shaped and dimensioned for the input of carbonaceous feedstock mounted to the base frame adjacent the first end, a reactor chamber mounted to the base frame and coupled to the inlet by a feed mechanism which directs carbonaceous feedstock from the inlet to the reactor chamber, a condenser system positioned and supported along the first lateral side of the base frame by a vertical supporting framework, a char separation and recovery system mounted upon the base frame and coupled to the reactor chamber by an auger for transporting char and heat carrier from the reactor chamber to the char separation and recovery system, and a heat exchanger circulating the heat carrier from the char separation and recovery system back to the reactor chamber.

Abstract: An invertible embedded container system comprises a base unit, a vase unit, and a flange unit. The base unit and vase unit include open sides, such that the vase unit is received within the open side of the base unit. Inverting the container system is accomplished by selectively placing the vase unit into the base unit with the open side or closed side of the vase unit facing up. The flange unit attaches to the vase unit and covers any space between the vase unit and base unit. A user may configure the container system in a closed orientation to prevent water and debris from entering the vase unit while system is not in use.

Abstract: An increase in the total grain and biomass yields and photosynthetic rates of plants grown at high densities is achieved by novel methods of defoliating the primary-source leaf of a majority of such plants. In particular the methods provide for increased grain and biomass yields, including for example, increased average kernel mass for maize plants, and photosynthetic rates through the timely removal of the primary-source leaf of a majority of the plants grown at high densities. This invention also relates to seeds obtained by using the disclosed methods.
