Publication number: 20110073545Abstract: Aqueous liquid having an oxygen demand flows into a treatment vessel where it is treated by suspended aerobic bacterial solids in the presence of dissolved oxygen. A pressurised flow of the treated liquid passes to a clarifying membrane separator effective to separate the flow into a discharge stream of clear liquid and a pressurised recycle stream concentrated in the aerobic bacterial solids. A first oxic gas is employed to scour the membranes and is conveyed away from the membrane separator in the pressurised recycle stream. The pressurised recycle stream is returned to under the surface of the liquid in the treatment vessel. A second oxic gas is introduced either into the pressurised recycle stream or into a further pressurised stream of aqueous liquid flowing into the same volume. The rate of introduction of the oxic gases is controlled with reference to the pH and dissolved oxygen concentration of the liquid in the vessel.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 17, 2007Publication date: March 31, 2011Inventors: Cedric Charles Hanson, Stuart Michael Pigott

Publication number: 20110073576Abstract: Systems and methods are described for efficient laser processing of a moving web-based material. In one embodiment, a moving web is provided at a selected speed. A laser beam is generated having a focal point positioned to provide either a score or cut in the web. The focal point of the laser beam is moved at a speed less than the selected speed for a selected distance thereby producing a discreet score or cut in the web in the machine direction. The focal point is repositioned to form another discreet score or cut once the prior discreet score or cut is formed. The repositioned focal point is moved at a speed less than the selected speed for another selected distance. The step of repositioning is repeated to form a plurality of discreet scores or cuts in the web moving at the selected speed. The laser beam is therefore able to be generated using less power than would be needed to produce the same type of discreet score or cut if the focal point were stationary as the web is moved at the selected speed.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2010Publication date: March 31, 2011Applicant: Preco, Inc.Inventors: James J.
