  • Patent number: 7958580
Abstract: An apparatus and method for aiding the insertion of a pillow into a pillowcase. The apparatus or device is flexible and lays flat in a neutral condition. After the pillow is placed onto the device, the device is wrapped around the pillow to compress the pillow, and edges of the device are engaged with one another to maintain the pillow in a compressed condition. The device and compressed pillow are slid into a pillowcase, or the pillowcase is slid over the device and compressed pillow, and the device is then slid outwardly from the pillowcase, allowing the pillow to expand and fill the pillowcase. Optionally, the edges of the device may first be disengaged to allow expansion of the pillow to fill the pillowcase prior to sliding the device outwardly from the pillowcase.

  • Patent number: 7958599
Abstract: A friction hinge includes a socket made up of a compressible elastomer insert sleeve inside a relatively rigid cup substrate. The insert sleeve defines an opening with a lip around the opening, and a relatively rigid ball or other center portion can be snap assembled through the lip and opening to center itself in the socket. A mount portion extends through the opening off the ball/center portion, and hand pressure on the mount portion can adjust the angular position of the joint. The size of the ball/center portion relative to the size of the cup substrate causes dimensional compression of the insert sleeve, such as about 15% of its thickness. The compression of the insert sleeve creates a controlled friction force on the ball/center portion, so the snap assembly friction hinge works consistently over a long time and over wide temperature ranges.

  • Patent number: 7958617
Abstract: A screw for the electrical connection of a cable terminal to a railway track or the like comprises a base body having an elongated shank having a longitudinal axis, a strike head connected with a first end of the shank, and threads for the removable connection of a strike organ or nut with a second end of the shank opposite said first end. The screw further comprises a support element manufactured separately from the base body and associated to the strike head so as to form a stroke that defines a cavity turned towards the second end of the shank. The screw is pre-assembled and the support element is substantially irreversibly connected to the base body.

  • Patent number: 7958618
Abstract: A method of inserting wooden or plastic connecting elements into at least one of end faces and longitudinal sides of technical wood products which are continuously conveyed along a device. The technical wood products have two opposing planar surfaces, the end faces connect the opposing planar surfaces and have a relatively small surface area compared to the two opposing planar surfaces. At least one of the end faces and the longitudinal sides have grooves for receiving the connecting elements. The method includes providing an inventory of pre-fabricated connecting elements. Cutting and separating the connecting elements and transferring the connecting elements from the inventory into magazines. Grasping individual ones of the connecting elements from the magazines with a transfer device and lifting or lowering the individual connecting element to the height of the groove in the technical wood products.

  • Patent number: 7958619
Abstract: A chuck holds a disk by the inside diameter with a plurality of contact surfaces at the end of fingers. Axial motion of an actuator is translated into outward radial movement of the fingers to place the contact surfaces in contact with the inside diameter of the disk. The force that is applied to the disk is limited to reduce or eliminate warping or curvature of the disk, e.g., a sleeve that surrounds the fingers can be used as a hard stop to physically limit the range of outward radial movement of the fingers.

  • Patent number: 7958620
Abstract: A method of determining the eccentricity of an encoder scale member of a rotary encoder includes taking an encoder scale blank having a geometric center and mounting the encoder scale blank centered about a second center. A scale can then be produced on the encoder scale blank thereby forming an encoder scale member. The scale of the encoder scale member is centered about the second center. Any eccentricity between the geometric center and the second center is measured by, for example, measuring any change in the apparent radius of the encoder scale member. The encoder scale member may then be mounted in a working location wherein it is rotated about a third axis. The eccentricity when mounted in the working location may be matched to that measured during manufacture thereof and/or the eccentricity errors arising from both manufacture and mounting of the encoder scale member may be determined.

  • Patent number: 7958621
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a rotor for a rotating electrical machine includes the steps of: preparing a first and a second pole core, a rotary shaft, and a field coil; press-fitting the rotary shaft into a through-hole of the first pole core so that the axes of the rotary shaft and the through-hole coincide with each other; mounting the field coil on one of the first and second pole cores; opposing the first and second pole cores to each other so that the axes of the through-holes thereof are in alignment with each other and contact surfaces thereof face each other with a maximum parallelism therebetween; press-fitting the second pole core onto the rotary shaft so that the contact surfaces of the first and second pole cores maximally contact with each other and the axis of the rotary shaft coincides with the axes of the through-holes of the pole cores.

  • Patent number: 7958623
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a current switch magnetic intensifier that is constructed to be secured in generally close proximity to the stationary contact of the current switch. During termination of the communication of power through the contactor assembly, the magnetic intensifier accentuates a magnetic field associated with a stationary contact and increases the magnitude of a magnetic force directed to the arc arrestor. The intensifier is fitted proximate the stationary contact so that a pair of arc rails extend beyond the stationary contact such that a force of a magnetic field generated by the contactor magnetic intensified is directed in a common direction with a direction of reduced resistance of the pair of arc rails to ensure efficient, repeatable, and expedient transfer of a circuit termination arc to the arc arrestor.

  • Patent number: 7958624
Abstract: An automated pallet inspection and repair apparatus includes an inspection station and a repair station. The inspection station includes a laser that illuminates a pallet, a camera that collects the reflected light and a computer system. The computer system analyzes the output of the camera and acquires the pallet's geometry and topography. The design of the pallet is determined by the computer software. A decision to repair the pallet is made by comparing the acquired pallet data against the design criteria. If the pallet needs repair, a recipe of repair steps is constructed by inspecting each of the pallet's elements. The recipe is transmitted to the automated repair station.

  • Patent number: 7958629
Abstract: A method for making an electronic module with an integrated electromagnetic shield uses surface mount shield wall components. At least one electronic component and two or more of the shield wall components are mounted on a surface of a circuit board panel using a pick-and-place process. Each shield wall component has a conductive portion and a non-conductive portion mounted in contact with the surface of the circuit board panel. The mounted shield wall components form a conductive wall to electromagnetically shield the electronic component. The non-conductive portion of one or more of the mounted shield wall components is sawn through, leaving some or all of the conductive portion of the mounted shield wall components. A top conductive shield can be applied. The non-conductive portions can provide stability during a reflow soldering process, while the sacrificial non-conductive portions are sawn through so that they can be removed to reduce the amount of area occupied by the overmoldable shield structure.
