Abstract: A magnetic barrel lock assembly comprises a lock body that defines a chamber having a first end and a second end that is opposite the first end. A plunger is located within the chamber and is moveable between a locked position and an unlocked position. A lock magnet is located between the plunger and the first end of the chamber. A resilient member is configured to bias the plunger toward the first or second end of the chamber. A detent is configured to be extendable when the plunger is in the locked position and retractable when the plunger is in the unlocked position. Positioning a key magnet near the lock magnet moves the plunger to the unlocked position such that the detent may retract.

Abstract: Ductility of a high-magnesium or high-aluminum content workpiece is increased during plastic deformation of the workpiece. When the workpiece is plastically deformed in a sealed chamber comprising a high concentration of dry hydrogen gas, the workpiece exhibits increased ductility compared to the ductility of a workpiece of identical composition that is similarly deformed in air. Enhanced ductility is quantified for several workpieces comprising aluminum and magnesium alloys in various forms including extruded sheets, drawn bars, rolled plates, and piston casts. Enhanced ductility is evident over a wide range of processing temperatures without a significant decrease in strength characteristics.

Abstract: Canister-shaped magnetic reinforcing elements 31, 32 made of a ferromagnetic material having a Curie temperature higher than magnetic yokes 11, 12 are provided inside the magnetic yokes 11, 12. The inner periphery 31a, 32a of an opening in each of the magnetic reinforcing elements 31, 32 is opposed to the outer periphery 51a, 52a of each of pole piece tops 51, 52. A torquer coil 61, 62 is located between the inner periphery 31a, 32a of the opening in each of the magnetic reinforcing elements 31, 32 and the outer periphery 51a, 52a of each pole piece top 51, 52. The magnetic reinforcing elements 31, 32 provided inside the magnetic yokes 11, 12 form independent magnetic circuits. Since the magnetic reinforcing elements 31, 32 have a Curie temperature higher than the magnetic yokes 11, 12, a high accuracy of acceleration measurement in a high-temperature range can be achieved.

Abstract: The metallization system of complex semiconductor devices may be evaluated in terms of mechanical integrity on the basis of a measurement system and measurement procedures in which individual contact elements, such as metal pillars or solder bumps, are mechanically stimulated, while the response of the metallization system, for instance in the form of directly measured forces, is determined in order to quantitatively evaluate mechanical status of the metallization system. In this manner, the complex material systems and the mutual interactions thereof may be efficiently assessed.

Abstract: Two or more sound sensors are placed in a space of interest. Each sensor has a light-emitting output. Each sensor can be positioned at a specific location, such as at an ear location for a seated listener. An excitation source can provide a specified acoustical energy stimulus to the space. A user can obtain a visual impression of acoustical response of the space corresponding to the sound sensors' positions. An image acquisition system can acquire an image of the sound sensors responding to a stimulus. Acquired images can be analyzed to determine response characteristics. A presentation system can provide a display of response characteristics.
