Publication number: 20110253316Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are used to provide ways of tire tread molding and retreading with a double tread rubber body having a unitary structure that comprises two treads in order to remove the need for buffing an oxide layer typically associated with tread molding and curing. Embodiments of the double tread molding and retreading methods also remove the need for cementing the cured tread to prevent future oxidation buildup. Once the double tread is cured and cooled, it is cut along the centerline with a double tread separation apparatus to expose a soft non-oxidized inner rubber. The method involves a sequence of steps including acidification, evaporation, and precipitation or centrifugation that are performed under defined conditions, and results in a relatively pure, solid lignin product. The method is tested on ammonium hydroxide solutions containing lignin extracted from switchgrass. Experimental results show that the method is capable of recovering between 66-95% of dissolved lignin as a precipitated solid.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 18, 2011Publication date: October 20, 2011Applicant: Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLCInventors: Steven Randall Sherman, Maximilian Boris Gorensek

Publication number: 20110253327Abstract: The invention relates to a method for refining cellulose fibers in aqueous suspension, using a plurality of refiner fillings having refining edges, of which one is operated on at least one stator and another is operated on at least one rotor, and the suspension to be refined is processed between the two refiner fillings. A partial flow of the suspension delivered to the outlet side flows back on the back side of the refiner filling on the stator side, and then flows through openings located between the refining edges of the refiner filling on the stator side, and again into the refining zone. This leads to particularly uniform and economical refining.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 18, 2011Publication date: October 20, 2011Inventors: Oliver Crasser, Markus Fursattel, Harald Hess, Hans-Herrmann Kleinschnittger, Michael Kramer

Publication number: 20110253328Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a papermaking felt which can be easily engaged in a papermaking machine, wherein the work time for engaging the felt is short, the initial warming-up period until reaching the highest papermaking speed is short, and the felt life is long. This object is achieved by integrating and attaching by dispersion in the batt layer of the felt a polymeric elastomer having high deformability when pressure is applied and good recoverability after pressure is applied. When said polymeric elastomer is in the form of a film and when measured at a room temperature of 20° C. and a relative humidity of 65%, the 100% modulus value of the film is 1 to 100 kg/cm2, the residual strain after 100% elongation is 30% or less, and the attached amount of polymeric elastomers is 0.5 to 20 wt. % of the papermaking press felt weight. Examples of materials include polyurethane elastomers, polyethylene elastomers, styrene-butadiene rubber, silicone rubber, or the like.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 25, 2010Publication date: October 20, 2011Applicant: Ichikawa Co., Ltd.Inventors: Takao YAZAKI, Takashi OUCHI, Hiroyuki ODA, Hirofumi MURAKAMI, Yuya TAKAMORI
