  • Patent number: RE42908
Abstract: The internal heat exchanger 7 is provided which exchanges heat between the refrigerant of low pressure and the refrigerant of high pressure, and the pre-load adjusting mechanism of the expansion valve 5 is abolished. Due to the above structure, the refrigerant flowing into the expansion valve 5 is cooled in the internal heat exchanger 7, and enthalpy of the refrigerant flowing into the evaporator 6 is reduced. On the contrary, the refrigerant sucked into the compressor 1 is heated. Accordingly, a difference in enthalpy between the refrigerant at the inlet and the refrigerant at the outlet of the evaporator 6 can be made large, and the heat absorbing capacity of the evaporator 6 can be enhanced, and further it becomes possible to give the degree of superheat to the refrigerant sucked into the compressor 1. Therefore, even if the pre-load adjusting mechanism is abolished, the vapor-compression-type refrigerating machine can be stably operated.

Abstract: A pressure test cap includes a mounting collar with an outer rib to limit depth of insertion of the cap into a pipe. A closure disc which seals the mounting collar is connected to the collar through an inner rim by a weakened ring. An outer rim section registers with the inner rim so that impacts to the outer rim are transferred to the weakened ring to separate the disc from the collar. The closure disc includes a centrally positioned nipple for connection of a conduit of a pressurized test fluid source. The nipple is closed by a break-away nipple plug. The nipple plug has a centrally located indentation for piercing to bleed trapped air from the system and resealing by a screw.

  • Patent number: RE42910
Abstract: A bottle cap is provided that allows for venting of gases generated in a bottle. A single or multiple ridges are formed on the inner surface of the cap top such that the ridges sit on the bottle mouth rim when the cap is threaded onto the bottle. A single or multiple slots may be formed across each of the ridges. Alternatively, a single or multiple grooves may be formed on the inner surface of the cap top. The ridge(s) or groove(s) may also be formed on a disc fitted over the inner surface of the cap top. When the cap is threaded on to the bottle, gases generated in the bottle can escape through the slot(s) formed across the ridge(s) or through the groove (s) formed on the inner surface of the cap top. A liner having an opening formed through its thickness may be placed in the cap. The liner opening allows the passage of gases from the bottle to the slot(s) or groove(s) formed on the cap top or disc.

  • Patent number: RE42915
Abstract: A vehicle security control apparatus has a connecting portion within a vehicle for receiving a switch device and a determination backup device. The determination backup device determines whether to permit or prohibit use of the vehicle by performing a code comparison with the switch device connected to the connecting portion if a determiner is unable to determine whether to permit or prohibit the use of the vehicle. Therefore, the apparatus is able to permit use of the vehicle even if the battery of a portable device is depleted or radio interference occurs.

  • Patent number: RE42917
Abstract: There is provided by this invention an improved rf power control device for plasma applications for optimization of the feedback control voltage in the presence of harmonic and non-harmonic spurious frequencies. In this system, an oscillator and mixer, similar to those normally used in radio receiver applications are placed at the sampled output of the solid state rf signal source used for plasma ignition. The sampled output is mixed to a low frequency and filtered to remove the spurious frequencies that is created in the non-linear plasma. In this way, the feedback power control essentially ignores the spurious frequencies. In this application, the oscillator and mixer do not interfere with other desirable system characteristics and effectively isolate the feedback control voltage from changes in plasma spurious content. This allows rf power to be delivered to the plasma with greater accuracy than would otherwise be possible with conventional power control device and methods.

  • Patent number: RE42923
Abstract: When a power switch is turned on, first and second analog switches are turned on while a third analog switch is turned off. Accordingly, at the time of starting, a forced excitation driving circuit supplies to a vibrator an oscillation output pulse which is substantially at the resonance frequency of the vibrator, thereby forcibly driving the vibrator in an excitation manner. Thereafter, when the vibrator substantially attains its stationary state and thereby the charged voltage of a capacitor reaches a threshold value of an inverter, the first and second analog switches are turned off while the third analog switch is turned on. Accordingly, the output of a self-excitation circuit is supplied to the electrode of the vibrator so as to vibrate the vibrator in a self-excitation manner.

  • Patent number: RE42924
Abstract: An electrochemical biosensor test strip with four new features. The test strip includes an indentation for tactile feel as to the location of the strips sample application port. The sample application port leads to a capillary test chamber, which includes a test reagent. The wet reagent includes from about 0.2% by weight to about 2% by weight polyethylene oxide from about 100 kilodaltons to about 900 kilodaltons mean molecular weight, which makes the dried reagent more hydrophilic and sturdier to strip processing steps, such as mechanical punching, and to mechanical manipulation by the test strip user. The roof of the capillary test chamber includes a transparent or translucent window which operates as a “fill to here” line, thereby identifying when enough test sample (a liquid sample, such as blood) has been added to the test chamber to accurately perform a test. The test strip may further include a notch located at the sample application port. The notch reduces a phenomenon called “dose hesitation”.

  • Patent number: RE42928
Abstract: A method of controlling switching of an operation mode of a TV phone. The TV phone includes a TV unit that reproduces and outputs a video signal and an audio signal from a selected channel. A display unit interfaces with the TV unit and receives and displays the video signals from the TV unit while in a TV mode. A TV audio signal processer receives the audio signal from the TV unit and outputs audible sound. An MRFU receives data of a forward channel transmitted from a base station. An MSP provides a channel selecting signal to the TV unit in the TV mode and transmits and receives an audio signal input from the MRFU in a phone mode. The method comprises the steps of alerting the user of an incoming call in response to an incoming call signal transmitted from the base station when the TV phone is in a TV mode and switching from the TV mode to the phone mode, the switching preferably including disabling the operation of the TV unit.

  • Patent number: RE42929
Abstract: A gaming device comprising a cabinet, a door, a game control unit, a printed circuit board and an input/output microcontroller. The door is hingedly connected to the cabinet. The game control unit is housed within the cabinet. The printed circuit board is mounted to the door and disposed inside the cabinet. The printed circuit board carries a plurality of light sources and a plurality of switches switchable between an actuated condition and a non-actuated condition. The input/output microcontroller, which performs many of the functions conventionally performed by the game control unit, is mounted to the printed circuit board and connected to the game control unit by a serial link. The microcontroller is coupled to the switches to inform the game control unit of the condition of each of the switches. The microcontroller is coupled to the light sources to turn the light sources on and off.
