Abstract: Description and specification of a new and distinct peach tree cultivar named ‘White Diamond’ which originated from a hand-pollinated cross of Ark. 392 (female, non-patented, unreleased genotype)בWhite River’ (male, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 15,159) is provided. This new peach tree cultivar can be distinguished by its late-season maturity, firm flesh, low-acid flavor, large freestone fruits and resistance to bacterial spot disease.

Abstract: Buddleja davidii ‘Summer Skies’ is a distinct form of butterfly bush that combines several desirable characteristics in a landscape plant including the following: upright and outwardly spreading plant habit; green and yellow to bright white leaf variegation with sharp contrast between colors; variegated foliage that is resistant to sun scald and greening; vigorous and free branching habit; long floral panicles of pale violet-blue flowers that are freely produced; easy asexual propagation by softwood or semi-hardwood cuttings; and rapid plant development in container culture.

Abstract: A new and distinct cultivar of hibiscus plant named ‘DUP-LMF’, characterized by glossy, dark green leaves, semi-upright habit appropriate for container production and culture, freely flowering habit, and a large, glossy red eye which radiates between the petal veins into a narrow region of white. The remaining two thirds of the petal is a deep orange.

Abstract: A cascade refrigeration system is provided. The cascade refrigeration system includes a low stage having a first refrigerant flowing therethrough and a high stage having a second refrigerant flowing therethrough. The low stage includes a compressor and evaporator coils. The input of the evaporator coils is operatively connected to the output of the compressor by an input conduit and the output of the operator unit is operatively connected to the input of the compressor by an output conduit. A bypass line has an input in communication with the input conduit and an output in combination with the output conduit. A bypass heat exchanger effectuates the heat exchange relationship between the first refrigerant flowing through the bypass line and the first refrigerant flowing through the input conduit.

Abstract: The present invention provides an on-chip packed reactor bed design that allows for an effective exchange of packing materials such as beads at a miniaturized level. The present invention extends the function of microfluidic analysis systems to new applications including on-chip solid phase extraction (SPE) and on-chip capillary electrochromatography (CEC). The design can be further extended to include integrated packed bed immuno- or enzyme reactors.

Abstract: A vertical alignment mode liquid crystal display device having an improved viewing angle characteristic is disclosed. The liquid crystal display device uses a liquid crystal having a negative anisotropic dielectric constant, and orientations of the liquid crystal are vertical to substrates when no voltage is applied, almost horizontal when a predetermined voltage is applied, and oblique when an intermediate voltage is applied. At least one of the substrates includes a structure as domain regulating means, and inclined surfaces of the structure operate to regulate azimuths of the oblique orientations of the liquid crystal when the intermediate voltage is applied.

Abstract: A display module, in which panel electrode terminals of a display panel are bonded to pattern terminals of a Cu foil pattern of a flexible wire board by using an anisotropic conductive adhesive, has a solder resist for protecting the Cu foil pattern on a base material of the flexible wire board so that the solder resist is extended inside the display panel while having the flexible wire board connected to the display panel. Therefore, even when the flexible wire board is used in a bent state, poor connection is surely prevented while conveniently suppressing a break in wire of the Cu foil pattern when bent, thereby attaining a highly reliable display module.

Abstract: The present invention features a system for uniformly distributing luminance and a high degree of collimation from a back light module for flat-panel, liquid crystal displays (LCDs) simultaneously. A constant and uniform luminance output of the back light module in two directions is obtained through appropriate selection of lamps, geometry and optical components. An appropriate balance of lamps, lamp spacing, diffusers and light collimating optics are chosen to produce a high brightness back light module with very high intensity output over two very large surfaces. Variations in intensity over the illuminated area are minimized using light recycling in conjunction with the reflective diffusers and collimating optics. Precision collimators eliminate light beyond a defined angle, as required in tiled or monolithic flat-panel LCDs with predetermined display specifications.

Abstract: An optical pickup head is provided with a light source, a diffracting means for creating a plurality of diffracted beams, a converging means for focusing the diffracted beams onto an optical storage medium, a beam branching means for branching the plurality of beams reflected by the optical storage medium, and an optical detecting means for outputting a signal corresponding to the amount of light of the received beams. The optical detecting means has main beam light receiving portions and sub-beam light receiving portions. The amount of light of the first or higher order diffracted beams when they are substantially focused on and reflected by a focus plane of the plurality of information recording planes is equal to or greater than the amount of light of the zero order diffracted beam when it is reflected without focusing by a non-focus plane other then the focus plane of the plurality of information recording planes.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are exemplary techniques for the communication of information in a wireless system by using multiple wireless channels. A direct link between two or more wireless devices may be established by performing a direct link setup between two or more wireless devices using an access point, where the direct link setup is conducted over a base channel and the direct link is established on a parallel channel. The two or more wireless devices may switch to the parallel channel and use the established direct link to communicate information directly without the access point as an intermediary. In anticipation of a predetermined event, such as the transmission of a delivery traffic indication map (DTIM) beacon frame by the access point, the two or more wireless devices may switch back to the base channel so that uplink, downlink and/or peer-to-peer information may be transmitted and/or received.

Abstract: A method for transmitting data packets having a heading followed by a data field. The data of the field is transmitted by groups of symbols. According to the OFDM technique, subcarriers modulated by the groups are generated. A frequency modulation of a carrier signal delivered by a linear ramp generator is produced with a set of modulated subcarriers. When the signal is received, mixing with a linear ramp results in subcarriers which are separated and then demodulated for supplying data. This is useful for transmitting data packets particularly in wide band networks.

Abstract: A method for padding interlaced texture information on a reference VOP to perform a motion estimation detects whether said each texture macroblock of the reference VOP is a boundary block or not. After the undefined texture pixels of the boundary block are extrapolated from the defined texture pixels thereof by using a horizontal repetitive padding, a transparent row padding and a transparent field padding sequentially, an undefined adjacent block is expanded based on the extrapolated boundary block.

Abstract: A method for padding interlaced texture information on a reference VOP to perform a motion estimation detects whether said each texture macroblock of the reference VOP is a boundary block or not. After the undefined texture pixels of the boundary block are extrapolated from the defined texture pixels thereof by using a horizontal repetitive padding, a transparent row padding and a transparent field padding sequentially, an undefined adjacent block is expanded based on the extrapolated boundary block.

Abstract: A carrier tracking circuit includes a first phase adjustment circuit coupled to an input of a delay element and a second phase adjustment circuit coupled to an output of the delay element. A phase correction circuit is coupled to output of the delay element is operable to generate a phase adjustment value based upon a data symbol output from the delay element. The phase correction circuit includes a double phase correction circuit to prevent double application of the same phase adjustment value to a symbol by both the first and second phase adjustment circuits. The carrier tracking circuit may be used in OFDM communications systems with each data symbol being an OFDM symbol and with the delay element being an FFT. The carrier tracker circuit also may include a feed forward circuit for correcting the phase error of a given data symbol using a phase error generated from that symbol.

Abstract: A motion picture soundtrack reproduction system has a center front soundtrack channel and a plurality of other soundtrack channels. A volume control adjusts the gain of all the channels. The volume control has a range of settings from a minimum to a maximum, the gain of the center front channel having substantially a first relationship to the volume control settings and the gain of the other channels having substantially a second relationship to the volume control settings, the relationships being such that for a range of volume control settings less than a first setting the gain of the center front channel remains substantially constant while the gain of the other channels decreases as the setting decreases or decreases more gradually than the gain of the other channels as the setting decreases.

Abstract: A tape cassette is used in a printing device with a drive shaft. The tape cassette includes a cassette casing which houses a printing tape and defines a feed path through which the tape moves in a feeding direction. The cassette casing includes a head recess adapted to receive a print head of the printing device. The cassette casing forms a generally rectangular shape that is bounded by four corners, but also includes a recess for receiving the drive shaft adjacent a first corner of the four corner of the cassette casing downstream of, and spaced from, the head recess in the feed direction. The cassette casing defines a first positioning hole adjacent the drive shaft and a second positioning hole spaced from the drive shaft, the first and second positioning holes each communicating with a corresponding pin of the printing device to ensure a proper positioning of the cassette casing within the printing device.

Abstract: The present invention provides a denatured albumin lamina, useful for repairing lesions on solid visceral organs. The lamina comprises human serum albumin, formed into a thin, pliant sheet and denatured. The denatured lamina can be sterilized and stored until used. As well, it can be impregnated with a variety of bioagents. A method for repairing a lesion on a solid visceral organ includes applying an energy-absorbing proteinaceous material to a lesion site on the solid visceral organ lesion; irradiating the proteinaceous material with energy sufficient to fuse the energy-absorbing material at least partially to the lesion site; applying a biocompatible denatured albumin lamina onto the proteinaceous material on the lesion site; and irradiating the biocompatible albumin lamina and the proteinaceous material with energy sufficient to fuse the biocompatible albumin lamina to the proteinaceous material and/or the lesion site.

Abstract: The present process relates to a formulation for a food product and preparation of a pre-formed filling unit for the provision of a consumable food product containing eggs, which may be refrigerated and/or frozen for future heating within a microwave oven for consumption by an individual. The process involves the initial step of acquisition of liquid eggs which may be scrambled. The liquid eggs are cooked whereupon the cooked liquid eggs are combined with other ingredients. The temperature of the combined ingredients is regulated and/or controlled during processing. The combined and mixed food product may then be inserted into a mold to provide a desired shape. After cooking the consumable food product may be separated from the mold whereupon the consumable food article may be refrigerated and/or frozen for future reheating as a portion of a breakfast or other consumable food article.

Abstract: A satellite radiotelephone system includes a space-based component, a plurality of ancillary terrestrial components, and a plurality of radiotelephones. The space-based component is configured to provide wireless radiotelephone communications using satellite radiotelephone frequencies. The plurality of ancillary terrestrial components include a plurality of ancillary terrestrial component antennas configured to provide wireless radiotelephone communications using at least one of the satellite radiotelephone frequencies in a radiation pattern that increases radiation below the horizon compared to above the horizon. The plurality of radiotelephones are configured to communicate with the space-based component and with the plurality of ancillary terrestrial components. Each radiotelephone also includes a GPS signal processor and a GPS mode filter that is configured to suppress energy at (1575.42??) MHz, where 0<??16.42 MHz. Related radiotelephones and methods are also discussed.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for interacting with a mobile telephone are provided. A remote control unit receives a user command and transmits it to a TV system which recognizes the user command as a telephone function command and transmits the function command to the mobile telephone if the TV system is set to Telephone Mode. The TV system may also output data received from the mobile telephone in response to the transmitted function command. Thus, a user may interact with a mobile telephone using an interactive TV system by displaying text/image data received from the telephone and by inputting various telephone function commands using a remote control unit. Upon receiving a function command from the TV system, the mobile telephone generates output data in response to the function command and transmits itto the TV system. A display unit of the TV system displays the text/image data, and a speaker outputs the sound data.

Abstract: A medical device is provided for collecting fluid samples from a patient, such as blood samples. The device includes a needle having a forward sharpened tip that is retracted into the housing of the device after use to prevent exposure to the contaminated needle. The rearward end of the housing is open, forming a socket for receiving a fluid container, such as a vacuum tube, that will receive the fluid sample. A needle retainer releasably retains the needle in the extended position against the rearward bias of a biasing element. After use, the medical professional retracts the needle by pressing an actuation button, allowing the biasing element to displace the needle rearwardly. A guide track guides the needle during retraction, tilting the needle off-axis.

Abstract: A needless connector is provided which utilizes a resealable preslit septum valve. The valve is resiliently restrained relative to a housing with the valve and housing configured to accept a standard male luer lock having a luer tip which penetrates the valve through the opening to extend within the housing and a luer locking flange of the luer lock extending about the housing. The valve includes a disk shaped upper portion covering the opening, a lower portion spaced from the housing and extending downward from the disk shaped portion into a passageway defined by the housing, and an annular skirt to attach the septum to the housing. The connector exhibits satisfactory leak pressure after multiple connections and disconnects to the luer lock fitting and long periods of indwell of the luer tip.

The emergent model is created by independently generating, publishing references to, and subscribing to data objects and/or function objects in a manner free of a globally predefined data object and/or function object definition. Messages are sent to referencing data objects and/or function objects when referenced data objects and/or function objects change. Functions within the function objects are solved when the messages are received. The data objects and/or the function objects are stored in a distributed manner across multiple computing devices on a computer network. At least one of the data objects is defined as an input data object and at least one of the data objects is defined as an output data object to a search engine, the search engine generating changes to the input data object until the output data object satisfies a predefined criteria.

Abstract: A body conforming, reusable, washable, textile holder for removably holding at least one electronic device in close bodily contact. The holder may be a wrap or tube constructed to enclose a portion of the body where the electronic device is to be held. The electronic device may be a cellular telephone, a wireless communication device, a personal audio device, a wearable computer, an electronic monitoring device, an electronic identification card, or other electronic device. The invention also relates to a system comprising the body conforming holder and an electronic device for use therewith, and a method for holding such an electronic device in close bodily contact by wearing the holder.

Abstract: The aqua sport shield is used while spear fishing. The shield distributes the force of loading a spear gun over a body area such as a chest area or the thigh area of a person's leg, greater than the butt end of the spear gun. The shield is comprised of a waterproof layer, a force absorbing layer and a force distributing layer. The shield can be a separate unit and attached to the user or can be a releasable or permanent part of a wet suit. Further it can be of various shapes to fit different body shapes as long as it effectively distributes the force of loading the spear gun to prevent body bruising or undue comfort.

Abstract: Fibers, such as textile fibers, having electrical components deposited thereon. More particularly, one or more electrical components are formed directly onto the surface of at least one fiber. The fiber having the electrical component formed thereon may then be interlaced with other fibers to form a larger piece of fabric, which can be employed to produce an article of clothing. A group of transistors and piezoelectric components forming an accelerometer may be woven onto one or more natural or synthetic fibers. The fibers may then be employed as the warp, weft, or both, of a woven piece of fabric, or used to form a knitted piece of fabric. The fabric piece can then be cut and sewn to form a wearable item, such as a shirt, a pair of pants, a hat, or the upper piece of a shoe that includes the accelerometer.

Abstract: Securing devices secure the position of protective pads on the arms of a user of the protective pads. A first strap and a second strap are placed over the head with the head of the user passing in between the first and second strap. The first and second straps connect to a third strap at a first connection point. At a second connection point opposite from the first connection point a fourth strap connects to the first and second straps. The third and fourth straps each connect to an attachment device. The attachment devices connect to the protective pads of the wearer. Each one of the straps can each be adjustable to accommodate wearers of varying dimensions. The attachment devices can be detachable from the protective pads so that the wearer can utilize the securing device in conjunction with protective pads that the wearer already has.

Abstract: A device for spraying an inner surface of a toilet bowl with a cleaning and/or deodorizing chemical is disclosed. The device can include a container for the chemical, a sprayer through which the chemical can be sprayed laterally at least halfway around a perimeter of the sprayer, means for attaching the sprayer near a rim of the toilet bowl, a fluid conduit in fluid communication with the container and the sprayer, and a manually operated pump for delivering chemical from the container through the fluid conduit and to the sprayer when the pump is operated. In one version, the pump includes a pump chamber in fluid communication with the container, a discharge conduit in fluid communication with the pump chamber and in fluid communication with the fluid conduit, and a piston that reciprocates in the pump chamber for drawing fluid from the container into the pump chamber and moving fluid from the pump chamber through the discharge conduit and into the fluid conduit.

Abstract: A system is provided herein which includes a closet flange insert and at least one spacer to be positioned between the closet flange insert and an installed closet flange. The closet flange insert includes a toilet connecting flange which extends radially outwardly from a through pipe. The through pipe is sized to be inserted into a pipe section of a closet flange. Each spacer includes spaced apart first and second faces, and spaced apart inner and outer edges extending between the first and second faces. The inner edge defines an opening extending through the body, the opening sized to permit passage therethrough of the through pipe of the closet flange insert but not the toilet connecting flange of the closet flange insert. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a system is provided which allows the closet flange insert to be mounted atop an installed closet flange, with one or more spacers therebetween, and with the closet flange insert being flush with surrounding finished flooring.
