  • Patent number: 8114494
Abstract: A consumable bitumen packaging compound including at least one packaging material/s, such as polymers, plastics and extenders and the like, used in combination with the bituminous material and a metal, either pure in powder form or in the form of salt or oxide, that is physically and/or chemically combined with the polymer material, so that the density of the packaging material is adjusted to prevent the material from floating to the surface of the molten material after melting. The components of the packaging are preferably selected such that they are compatible with the bitumen. After transport and storage, the packaging material can therefore be directly incorporated into the bitumen product for final use, such that the formation of a polymer skin accumulating at the surface of the molten material is largely avoided.

  • Patent number: 8114534
Abstract: A fuel cell system is described that enables discharge of moisture generated by the fuel cell system based on pressure differences between components of the fuel cell system. The fuel cell system includes a fuel cell that discharges oxidant offgas via a cathode discharge pipe and discharges fuel offgas and moisture to an anode drain opening that in turn discharges the fuel offgas and the moisture to a gas-liquid separator via an anode drainpipe. A throttle valve establishes a pressure difference downstream within the anode drainpipe to enable movement of the fuel offgas and the moisture from the anode drain opening to a lower pressure area of the gas-liquid separator. In addition, the pressure difference enables the fuel offgas to flow from the gas-liquid separator to the cathode discharge pipe through the throttle valve.

Abstract: A battery pack assembly comprising a plurality of battery packs each including a plurality of cells and at least one metering plate for metering the quantity of air flowing respectively through each of the air paths of the battery packs. An inlet metering plate is disposed upstream of the battery packs to meter the uneven flow of cooling air generated by the inlet manifold. The inlet metering plate utilizes a plurality of apertures, which can vary in size and shape, to produce equal streams of cooling air to cool all the battery packs to a substantially uniform temperature. An outlet metering plate can be disposed downstream of the battery packs to meter the flow of outgoing cooling air through the channels of the upper cylindrical sections to produce equal air flow around all of the cells in a stack to cool all of the cells to a substantially uniform temperature.
