  • Publication number: 20120036812
Abstract: This is a multi part clip installed under the seam of a raised seam roof that allows secure attachment of objects to the roof. One component of the invention is a base clip constructed from thin gage sheet metal and having multiple holes with some dimpled for fasteners. Another component of the invention is a vertical clip also constructed from thin gage sheet metal and having slots on either side to allow fasteners for attachment through the vertical clip. The two components when installed under a new or a pre-existing raised seam roof allows secure permanent or temporary attachment of objects using clamping force applied over the reinforcement clip without the need for deforming or changing the visual esthetics of the roof panels. This produces more support for vertical, lateral, and downward pressure.

Abstract: A pair of rake wheels in an assembly is referred to as a center splitter assembly. Each rake wheel is configured for free-rotation, meaning it is powered by contacting the ground. The center splitter is used to separate material, each wheel moving material in a different direction. The rake wheel on the left side of the center splitter assembly will rotate in a clockwise direction, as viewed from behind the wheel, which will cause the material to move from the right to the left. The opposite applies to the rake wheel on the right side of the center splitter assembly, where it will rotate counter-clockwise, moving material from the left to the right. Since these rake wheels are attempting to move material in opposite directions, the spacing between the wheels has been found to be critical.

Abstract: A hydraulic pump driven by an engine, a hydraulic actuator, and a negative control circuit are provided on an open center hydraulic circuit, for guiding the hydraulic pressure in the center bypass to the hydraulic pump, as a negative control pressure. A negative control pressure control device controls the negative control pressure to an arbitrary value is also provided. The pump characteristic of the hydraulic pump is set such that the discharge flow rate is minimized when the negative control pressure in the negative control circuit is equal to or greater than a first predetermined pressure. Furthermore, an idling detection device that detects whether the hydraulic actuator is in a non-operated state or not is provided. The negative control pressure is forcefully controlled to the first predetermined pressure or higher when the non-operating state is detected.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a substrate having a top surface, a substantially regular array of raised structures located over the top surface, and a layer located on the top surface between the structures. Distal surfaces of the structures are farther from the top surface than remaining portions of the structures. The layer is able to contract such that the distal surfaces of the structures protrude through the layer. The layer is able to swell such that the distal surfaces of the structures are closer to the top surface of the substrate than one surface of the layer.

Abstract: The process of active DPF regeneration requires that the DPF be brought to regeneration temperatures in excess of 550° C. to 600° C. for a period of time sufficient to accomplish soot burnoff in the DPF. Similarly, during cold start up it is desirable to bring the catalyst to light off temperature as soon as possible. The large thermal inertia of one or more turbochargers delays the exhaust gas at the DPF from reaching critical temperature quickly. The incorporation of a low thermal inertia, insulated, turbocharger bypass duct avoids thermal energy loss from exhaust gas to the turbine housing and shortens the time for the DPF to reach critical temperature for active DPF regeneration, or in the case of a catalytic converter, shortens time for catalyst to reach light off temperature.

Abstract: A variable geometry turbocharger is simplified yet able to maintain pulse energy. In a first embodiment, a turbine housing is provided with a pivoting wall which pivots about a point near the entry to the turbine housing. By moving the wall about the pivot point, the effective volume of the turbine housing volute is varied, thus effectively reducing the volume of exhaust gas in the volute, allowing control of exhaust gas flowing to the turbine wheel. In the second embodiment of the invention, a rotating wedge segment within the volute is rotated from a first position to a second position, changing the effective volume of the volute and allowing control of exhaust gas flowing to the turbine wheel.

Abstract: The disclosure provides a waste heat recovery (WHR) system including a Rankine cycle (RC) subsystem for converting heat of exhaust gas from an internal combustion engine, and an internal combustion engine including the same. The WHR system includes an exhaust gas heat exchanger that is fluidly coupled downstream of an exhaust aftertreatment system and is adapted to transfer heat from the exhaust gas to a working fluid of the RC subsystem. An energy conversion device is fluidly coupled to the exhaust gas heat exchanger and is adapted to receive the vaporized working fluid and convert the energy of the transferred heat. The WHR system includes a control module adapted to control at least one parameter of the RC subsystem based on a detected aftertreatment event of a predetermined thermal management strategy of the aftertreatment system.

Abstract: A technique of controlling a steam generating boiler system includes dynamically tuning a rate of change of a disturbance variable (DV) to control operation of a portion of the boiler system, and in particular, to control a temperature of output steam to a turbine. The rate of change of the DV is dynamically tuned based on a magnitude of an error or difference between an actual and a desired level of an output parameter, e.g., output steam temperature. In an embodiment, as the magnitude of the error increases, the rate of change of the DV is increased according to a function f(x). A dynamic matrix control block uses the dynamically-tuned rate of change of the DV, a current output parameter level, and an output parameter setpoint as inputs to generate a control signal to control a field device that, at least in part, affects the output parameter level.

Provision is made to combine the refrigerant flow from the vapor expander and from the compressor discharge. The outdoor heat exchanger is so sized and designed that the working fluid discharged therefrom is always in a liquid form so as to provide a liquid into the pump inlet. The pump and expander are so sized and designed that the high pressure portion of the vapor expansion circuit is always super-critical. A topping heat exchanger, liquid to suction heat exchanger, and various other design features are provided to further increase the thermodynamic efficiency of the system.
