Abstract: Methods that create an array of BAW resonators by patterning a mass load layer to control the resonant frequency of the resonators and resonators formed thereby, are disclosed. Patterning the surface of a mass load layer and introducing apertures with dimensions smaller than the acoustic wavelength, or dimpling the mass load layer, modifies the acoustic path length of the resonator, thereby changing the resonant frequency of the device. Patterns of variable density allow for further tuning the resonators and for individualized tuning of a resonator in an array of resonators. Patterning a reflowable material for the mass load layer, thereby providing a variable pattern density and distribution followed by elevating the temperature of the mass load layer above its melting point causes the material to liquefy and fill into the apertures to redistribute the mass load layer, thereby, upon subsequent cooling, providing resonators with a predetermined desired resonant frequency.

Abstract: A method of making a set of interlocking floor or wall panels includes providing a single solid layer with a veneer layer on top. The fabrication method involves the use of edge routing using a tongue cutter on one edge and a groove cutter on the opposite edge to form the edge shapes equivalent to those of the previous embodiment. If two routing heads are spaced apart the appropriate distance for a particular sized panel, a single pass can form a tongue on one edge and a groove on the opposite edge simultaneously. One cutter is spun clockwise while the second is spun counterclockwise to equalize the forces on the panel. Thus two passes are needed to form the edges of a panel. The veneer layer, which may be bamboo, birch, or other woods such as cherry wood, is adhesively bonded to the top surface.

Abstract: A power operated knife comprises a blade supporting structure supporting an annular blade for rotation about a central axis. The blade and blade supporting structure are engagable along bearing contact locations that are spaced apart in a direction parallel to the axis so that the blade is stabilized both radially and axially as the knife operates. The blade supporting structure comprises a split blade housing member that is radially expandable and contractible to receive the blade. The split blade housing member and blade engage along relatively short lines of bearing contact that serve to minimize friction and blade heating when the knife operates. The bearing locations are spaced apart both circumferentially around the blade perimeter and in the direction of the axis so that the blade position is stabilized during operation of the knife.

Abstract: A coordinate measuring machine for determining spatial coordinates on a measurement object has a frame structure on which a probe head is arranged. The probe head has a probe head sensor system, a body part and a coupling part which can move relative to the body part. The frame structure is designed to move the probe head relative to the measurement object. The probe tool has at least one stylus for making contact with the measurement object, and also has a rotating plate. The stylus is coupled to the coupling part by means of the rotating plate, such that it can rotate. At least one roll motion projection is formed on the body part. The rotating plate can be rolled along this roll motion projection by means of a movement of the coupling part in order to set a defined orientation of the stylus.

Abstract: A measurement system is described for determining the varus and/or valgus angles of a pronating and/or supinating foot, especially when the subtalar joint of the foot is placed and/or maintained in a neutral position. When the user's foot is maintained in the subtalar joint neutral position, it causes a substantially hemispherically shaped platform member to rotate relative to a correspondingly shaped depression formed in a base portion such that a top surface of the platform member is no longer in a coplanar relationship with a top surface of the base portion. When this occurs, a bottom surface of the platform member is exposed. As a result, indicia are exposed which correspond to degree markings disposed on the bottom surface of the platform member. The degree markings indicate the angle that corresponds to the amount of pronation and/or supination of the user's foot.
