Publication number: 20120085552Abstract: A rotating breech lock rotates tubing to distribute wear caused by a rotating or reciprocating rod of an artificial lift system. The rotating breech lock has a spool that disposes on a wellhead. A bowl element disposes in the spool's bore, and a hanger fits into the spool and lands on the bowl element with a thrust bearing. Above the hanger, a load ring fits against the hanger with a bearing, and a hold-down sleeve and locking pins hold the load ring against the hanger. The spool has a worm that mates with a wheel defined about the hanger so turning the worm by a ratchet or other mechanism rotates the hanger. Internally, the hanger has a bore with opposing shoulders separated by gaps. A mandrel couples to the tubing and disposes up into the hanger. Protrusions or keys on the hanger can selectively align with the gaps and the shoulders depending on how the mandrel is rotated in the hanger bore.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2010Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: WEATHERFORD/LAMB, INC.Inventors: Todd Travis, Scott Menard, Brandon M. Publication number: 20120085554Abstract: A seal assembly between a wellhead housing having a bore and a casing hanger, has an inner seal leg for sealing against hanger and an outer seal leg for sealing against housing. An extension extends downward from outer seal leg and is connected to a nose ring having a downward facing shoulder that rests on the hanger shoulder to provide a reaction point for setting operations. A lock ring is retained within interior portion of the nose ring. An upward facing shoulder formed on an upper portion of nose ring contacts the lower surface of the inner seal leg. The shoulder prevents the downward deflection of the inner leg and eliminates buckling due to Poisson effect from the resulting axial force due to growth of the seal legs during setting operations. The shoulder thus prevents crooked or twisted setting of the seal to prevent plastic strain in the seal.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2011Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: VETCO GRAY INC.Inventors: Nicholas P. Publication number: 20120085587Abstract: A modular wind turbine device mountable in a plurality of locations along the exterior of a vehicle. The device comprises a low profile air inlet, a rotatable turbine that utilizes incoming air flow for motive power, and an alternator device for transforming the rotation of the turbine into usable electric power. The air inlet is a raised air scoop that protrudes from the external surface of the vehicle, similar to forced air induction inlets or brake cooling inlets on current vehicles. The inlet is shrouded with a mesh screen to prevent discrete objects from entering or interfering with the turbine device. The turbine is an elongated cylinder with protruding fins that utilize the pressure of the incoming air flow to spin about its central axis. A side-mounted alternator provides a core that spins within a stator to produce an electric current. The electric current is fed to a power management system for controlling and powering a battery pack.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2011Publication date: April 12, 2012Inventor: David Drouin

Publication number: 20120085589Abstract: A muffler for a vehicle includes a plurality of baffles fixed at a predetermined distance in a longitudinal direction of a muffler housing, an exhaust gas inflow pipe, an intermediate pipe, and a plurality of exhaust gas outflow pipes having an inlet thereof positioned in the same chamber defined by the adjacent pair of the baffles with the outlet of the intermediate pipe to considerably reduce exhaust noise, flow-induced noise, and booming noise of exhaust gas. The muffler is effectively protected from thermal damage of a vehicle by implementing a sound-absorbing heat-insulating material therein, and impresses consumers with dynamic, powerful, and polished image by making the exhaust gas outflow pipe in a dual type composed of first and second exhaust gas outflow pipes and disposing the outlet at the lower center of a rear bumper to be exposed to the outside, thereby considerably improving productivity of vehicles.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 30, 2010Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: HYUNDAI MOTOR COMPANYInventors: Kichul PARK, Daegil Hwang

Publication number: 20120085590Abstract: A roofer's cushion comprising a tapered block of compliant material, such as closed-cell expanded polystyrene, polyurethane of polyethylene. The block is tapered to compensate to at least some degree to the slope of a roof. A pair of shallow elongate and parallel depressions are formed in the top surface of the block and to accommodate a roofer's knees and lower legs comfortably therein. Additional receptacles of various sizes and locations are provided for tools and materials. A hold-down strap between the depressions uses hook and loop fastener technology to permit a board to be secured to and between two such roofer's cushions to form a ridge structure.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2010Publication date: April 12, 2012Inventor: Wendell Davis, JR.

Publication number: 20120085591Abstract: A tree stand that includes a seating section and a standing section. Each section includes a first frame, a second frame, a first engaging member, a second engaging member that is responsive to a pneumatic piston, a pivoting gate member, and a support platform. The support platform in the seating section of the tree stand is a seat. The support platform in the standing section is a standing platform. A tree stand is positioned onto a tree by opening the pivoting gate member so that the tree trunk can be received into the first frame and thereby engage the first engaging member and the āVā shaped tooth side of the second engaging member. As the user ascends or descends the tree, the second engaging member is adjusted to compensate for changes in tree diameter by removing and replacing a tethered retaining pin.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 12, 2010Publication date: April 12, 2012Inventor: John Gregory Williams

Publication number: 20120085593Abstract: When main power to an elevator system 10 is lost, an automatic rescue operation is performed using power from a backup power source 46. A rescue run for an elevator stopped between floors is initiated by lifting a brake 28 and allowing the elevator car 12 to move by gravity. If the car 12 moves as a result of a weight imbalance between the car 12 and a counterweight 14, operation of the hoist motor 24 is synchronized with sensed movement of the car 12 to generate electricity. If weight is balanced so that the car 12 does not move, backup power is supplied to the hoist motor 24 to apply a motor torque to drive the car 12 in a selected direction during the rescue run.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 30, 2009Publication date: April 12, 2012Applicant: OTIS ELEVATOR COMPANYInventors: Uwe Schoenauer, Andreas Belkner

Publication number: 20120085594Abstract: A drive arrangement for an elevator car and a machine roomless elevator incorporates a machine having a drive sheave, a pair of right and left car side sheaves disposed beneath the car, a counterweight with a pair of top mounted sheaves, and a hoist cable including a plurality of ropes. The car is shifted to one side of the hoistway and the car guide rails are shifted forward in the hoistway in order to create a large pocket in a rear corner of the hoistway for the counterweight. In this manner, the elevator car can nest beside the machine in the top of the hoistway limiting the required top hoistway space and creating a minimal hoistway footprint.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 4, 2011Publication date: April 12, 2012Inventor: Tim Wright
