Abstract: Described are embodiments of a pump having a diagnostic port that enables users and support personnel to diagnose the source of a pump leak. The diagnostic port is monitored visually or with a pressure or liquid detection sensor. In some embodiments, fluid detected at the diagnostic port corresponds to a leak around a circumference defined at an outer sealing surface of a high pressure seal. In other embodiments, fluid detected at the diagnostic port corresponds to a leak around a plunger at the inside diameter of the high pressure seal. Multiple diagnostic ports can be provided to allow separate determinations of leaks about the different portions of the high pressure seal. The embodiments may eliminate the need to disassemble the pump to determine the source of leaks. Thus the effort required to diagnose and repair the pump can be substantially reduced, and fewer misdiagnosed components are ordered or replaced.

Abstract: A method for extracting methane purifies a biogas and components present in the biogas, such as carbon dioxide, sulfur compounds, and ammoniac are separated in a plurality of different process steps. The method for extracting methane is characterized by low energy consumption and allows an increase in methane content of at least 10%. In a first purifying step, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, ammoniac, and other water-soluble organic substances present in the raw gas are removed in a washing column at a standard pressure or at overpressure of up to 6 bar by use of fresh water. The methane gas having a methane content of at least 65% is drawn off at the head of the washing column. Methane and carbon dioxide dissolved in the wash water are sequentially separated from the contaminated wash water discharged from the washing stage, in a first stripping column and subsequently in a second stripping column, by adding stripping air under standard pressure.

Abstract: A control system for a controlled atmosphere room (“CA room”) for storing perishable commodities, such as fruits and vegetables. The control system includes an enclosure that can be placed within the CA room to store a representative sample of the commodities in the CA room. The control system includes an atmosphere valve selectively operable to provide atmospheric communication between the enclosure and the CA room or to isolate the enclosure from the CA room. The control system includes a sampling control system for determining a dynamic control value based on the isolated representative sample. The dynamic control value may be determined by monitoring the respiratory quotient in the enclosure while it is isolated. Once determined, the control system can use the dynamic control value to adjust the atmosphere of the CA room, thereby using tests on a representative sample to control the atmosphere for the full volume of commodities in the CA room.

Abstract: A banding device includes a frame. A feeding assembly is mounted on the frame for feeding elastic tubing into the frame. A transfer assembly disposed within the frame includes transfer arm and fingers. The fingers receive the rubber tubing as fed. A cutting assembly is disposed between the transfer assembly and the feeding assembly for cutting the tubing into bands. The fingers of the transfer assembly move between a first closed position for receiving the band and a second open position for opening the band. The transfer arm is moveable between a first position for receiving the band and a second position for transferring the band. A banding assembly disposed at the second position receives the band from the transfer assembly. The banding assembly stretches the band and receives an item to be bundled within the band. The banding assembly releases the band about the bundle.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming a block from carbon dioxide particle is configured to allow changing between precise thicknesses with very little downtime, utilizing both weight based and volumetric dosing. A spacer supports the lower ejection piston during block forming, with a shuttle discharging particles into the forming chamber while simultaneously pushing a previously formed block on to a conveyor. In one embodiment, the shuttle dosing cavity has a volume that is greater than the volume of the forming chamber volume, which allows more pellets, volumetrically, to be dosed into the dosing cavity than the volume of the forming cavity.
