Abstract: A protective pad to be employed by a person engaged in athletic activity utilizes to protect the user's hands formed from a very thin rectangular piece of rubber having a thickness of approximately 0.032 inch. On the top side of the protective pad are located treads upraised from the top surface of the pad. The treads are evenly spaced and approximately ½ inch apart and have triangular cross sections. The bottom side of the protective, which is the side placed against the grip portion of the piece of athletic equipment, is generally flat and has a tacky surface. The user wraps the protective pad around the grip portion of the piece of athletic equipment with the bottom tacky side of the pad adjacent to the grip.

Abstract: Protective padding may be used during physical activities such as sporting activities to protect the body of a wearer. For example, a knee pad may be worn by a baseball catcher under the catcher's shin guard to protect a knee of the catcher. In some examples, the knee pad includes a foam pad defining a front surface configured to be positioned against the rigid shin guard and a back surface configured to be positioned against the knee. The foam pad may include a continuous sheet of memory foam adapted to conform to contours of the knee of the wearer during use. The knee pad may reduce or eliminate bruising and discomfort during sporting activity as compared to when the knee pad is not used.

Abstract: A coated glove and method of making the same is provided. The invention proposes a knitted liner glove which is dyed after the knitted portion is dipped into a rubber polymer. Further, the method for making the glove includes knitting a liner of the glove, dipping the knitted liner into a rubber polymer to cover a portion thereof, and then dyeing the knitted polymer coated liner.

Abstract: An article of headwear is made of stretchable porous fabric and is configured to fit snugly over a woman's head to conceal hair loss or baldness of the user. A gathering band is stitched inside the headwear along the back portion in the area of the natural hairline to create an illusion of fullness by the folds of the fabric. A neck ruffle is created below the inner band to cover the natural hairline. An outer band is attached at two points to the outer surface to fit outside of the area where the inner band is located. The outer band has longitudinal dimensions at least slightly greater than the stretchable inner band.

Abstract: A replaceable helmet protective skin, which is adapted for covering an outer surface of a helmet, includes a skin body configured to attach and detach while in use fittingly cover the outer surface of the helmet as if part of the outer surface thereof in an edge-to-edge manner, wherein the skin body is formed a receiving cavity therewithin for fittingly receiving the helmet to cover the outer surface thereof. The toilet includes a toilet bowl having a depression; a refuse pipe passing through the toilet bowl and connected to the depression, thus guiding the discharge of excrement from the depression; a refuse bowl seated in the depression and temporarily holding the excrement, and discharging the excrement into the refuse pipe when it is rotated; a rotating device for rotating the refuse bowl; and a cyclone-type sewage purifier for executing purification treatment using a vortex generated by descent of the excrement and waste water discharged from the refuse pipe and a waste water pipe.

Abstract: Systems and methods for covering a manmade pool (10) are disclosed. The system comprises an insulating cover (12) and a roller (14) positioned along at least one edge of the pool (10), wherein the roller is attached to at least one edge of the insulating cover (12) and the insulating cover is capable of being wound upon the roller (14). In an embodiment, the system further comprises a guide (18) capable of guiding at least one leading edge of the insulating cover (20) across the pool (10), such that the insulating cover can be moved from an open position, with the insulating cover wound around the roller (14), to a closed position, with the insulating cover secured over the pool. In some embodiments, the insulating cover (12) further comprises reinforcing material that adds sufficient strength to the cover that when in the closed position over the pool, the cover can support the weight of at least one adult human.

Abstract: An air management system for an insulated spa cabinet is provided. The air management system monitors the temperature of an equipment air space in the cabinet and vents overheated air in a controlled manner from the cabinet. The air management system comprises an air passageway, formed by a U-trap, between an inlet in the air space and an exterior of the cabinet. The system also comprises an air mover and a sensor. The sensor monitors the temperature in the air space and when the temperature is above a set temperature threshold, the air mover is operated to direct air from the air space through the passageway from the inlet to the discharge for controlled venting of overheated air.

Abstract: An emergency eye wash valve which can be connected to an IV fluid bag or other reservoir of fluid easily controllable flow of liquid to two eye wash arms which are independently positionable to dispense the liquid into the eyes of a patient in need of emergency eye wash. In addition, the valve has a base member which can be affixed via a biocompatible adhesive to the patient (for example on the forehead or bridge of the nose) to hold the valve in position so that it does not have to held in place by a person during the eye washing process.

Abstract: One embodiment of a sink with an integrally molded work surface area (12) with sink basins (13,14) where the work surface is located between basins and at a level higher than the bottom of the sink basins but lower than the edge of the entire sink unit (11). The work surface provides an area for a range of tasks including can opening, draining with a colander, filling pots with water, preparing and cutting uncooked meats, and operating a salad spinner. The entire combination of sink basins and work surface connects continuously in form to provide a more sanitary and faster food preparation process allowing for the accomplishment of a variety of tasks including easy and simple clean up.

Abstract: A table assembly for a patient transfer device has an upper table with side plates that are differentially extended at the ends, and valve control for pneumatic tubing integrated with refraction of the side plates. During patient delivery only the delivery side plate is raised, to avoid catching linens in the nip formed between upper and lower belts. A slide assembly supporting the table assembly includes a fixed plate, an intermediate plate, and a full-motion plate which extend by means of rack-and-pinion drives. Each plate is symmetrical, and pinions are symmetrically located on opposite sides of the fixed or intermediate plate to allow hyperextension to either the left or right. Improved steerage for the device is provided by two centerline wheels which counter-rotate from a straight position to a turning position and further to a lateral position wherein the wheels are orthogonal to the longitudinal centerline of the device.

Abstract: In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a patient support may generally consist of a single L-shaped piece of material with one portion of the patient support comprising a back support and one portion of the patient support comprising a leg support. The patient support may be folded into the general shape of a seat and the distal end of the leg support may attach to the distal end of the back support. The point of attachment of the leg support to the back support may be adjusted to increase or decrease the size of the patient support and to change the angular position of a patient in the patient support. The patient support may also include an upper back support and a head support. In one embodiment, the patient support may include a hand hold.

Abstract: A patient lift including a boom a spreader bar, and a friction coupling for securing the boom and the spreader bar. The friction coupling may include two friction washers disposed against respective inner faces of the boom. Two compression springs are disposed abutting the friction washers with a spreader bar support member in between. The compression springs urge the friction washers against the inner faces of the boom end. The spreader bar does not swing when the lift is moved without load. Also, the friction coupling reduces the swing of the patient, when transferred in the lift. This makes the lift easier to manoeuvre for the caregiver.

Abstract: The invention relates to a patient lifting frame for use with an invalid hoist for lifting and supporting an invalid patient. Such a lifting frame can be used in conjunction with a wheeled or overhead mechanical or electrical hoist unit, to assist nursing staff, healthcare staff or carers in lifting and moving disabled patients. This lifting frame may also be used in many different areas to carry able bodied people in safety for operations such as air sea rescue service.

Abstract: The invention relates to a deformable support element for use in a bed system, and to a bed system comprising the support elements. The bed system is suited in particular for use in the prevention of the development of decubitus by recumbent patients. The support element according to the invention consists of a support plate, flexible edge elements connected at each end to the support plate allowing for a directed movement of the end of the support plate out of an unloaded position, and one or more actuators beneath the support plate for deforming the support plate. The invention is advantageously characterized in that the support plate of the support element can take on a straight shape by the actuation of the actuator or actuators or can be deformed into an undulated shape or into a movement that is directed upward or downward.

In another example, the food surface member is a two-piece construction with a slidable tray lock that moves between a first position when the pillow is closed and a second position that secures the two pieces together as a substantially coplanar surface when the pillow is open. In yet another example, the beverage holder is tapered so as to fit a variety of sizes of beverage containers.

In this way, a water-removal press can always be permanently arranged downstream of the washing machine and all the laundry, including delicate laundry, can pass through the water-removal press.

A main inflow waterway and a rinse waterway are provided between the water inlet and the tub.
