Abstract: An upper die with a button-mounting member includes a solid axial part with a flat tip, a bar-like pin member with a pointed tip, and a cylindrical punch surrounding the pin member. The button is set above the cloth and the button-mounting member is disposed below the cloth. The upper die is lowered until the button comes into contact with the upper side of the cloth and the tip of the axial part contacts the lower side of the cloth. The pin member is lowered until the tip hits against the tip of the axial part, resulting in a pilot bore through the cloth. The axial part passes through the cloth along the pilot bore and through the mounting opening. After that, the axial part is swaged by the pin member and the punch.

Abstract: A system and method for removing an electronic component from a substrate is described. In one embodiment, a method in accordance with the invention includes initially preheating a substrate, wherein an electronic component (such as a microchip or discrete electronic component) is attached to the substrate by one or more solder connections. A thermally conductive picker head is applied to the electronic component to quench the electronic component and generate a temperature gradient across the solder connections. Tension is applied to the electronic component using the picker head. The substrate is then heated until a melting point is reached at the interface between the substrate and the solder connections. When the melting point is reached, the tension applied by the picker head removes the electronic component from the substrate. Most if not all of the solder associated with the solder connections is removed with the electronic component.

Abstract: A non-thermal dewatering and drying system to remove, separate and segregate free moisture from an essentially granular form of organic and non-organic solid material mixed with free moisture and air. The energy efficient separation and removal of the free moisture is by the system that creates differential pressures in adjacent moving flows. Such pressure differentials result in the induced flash vaporization of free moisture from granular materials, simultaneously with the separation and segregation of water vapor into a moving flow of adjacent air. The system has a novel design that allows retains laminar/plug flow characteristics. The differential is created by increasing the velocity of the process air as it is introduced into the material transport piping of the system. This combining the material, free moisture and higher velocity air allows for rapid mechanical removal, separation and segregation of free water within the transport pipe.

Abstract: A mixing laundry dryer vane has a general profile which is scooped or “saddle” shaped. The mixing dryer vane has two relatively tall end portions and a reduced height central portion. The mixing dryer vane may have an upper surface that extends arcuately from one taller end portion to the other taller end portion. The arcuate shape may define along the length of the vane a relatively deep concavity which defines the reduced height central portion. The mixing dryer vane's taller end portions may be configured and positioned to cause “wiping” of clothes off and away from an exhaust duct grill within the dryer. The taller end portions of the vane may have a generally propeller-like twist that directs clothes towards the scooped central portion of the vane. The scooped mixing vane in combination with other non-scooped dryer vanes can reduce or eliminate the tendency of harmonic tumbling of a load.

Abstract: The present application relates to an insulation pack in a wearable article, such as a footwear article. In one example embodiment, the insulation pack includes a perforated air retention and communication layer, an insulating compressible layer, and a reflective layer. In a compressed state, when the wearable article is worn by a wearer, the perforated air retention and communication layer and the insulating compressible layer maintain a lofted air space which is in air communication with an inner body space of the wearable article and acts as an insulating layer. Further, the reflective layer reflects radiated body heat. Thus, the insulation pack may provide a heat retention and insulation system for the wearable article by reducing body heat lost via radiation and conduction.
