  • Publication number: 20120266595
Abstract: A hydraulic drive assists to increase the acceleration rate of a turbocharger impeller/turbine shaft assembly and provide a secondary means of driving the compressor impeller at lower engine speeds where exhaust gases alone does not generate adequate shaft speeds to create significant induction boost. The hydraulic circuit includes a dual displacement motor, which provides high torque for acceleration yet converts to a single motor for high-speed operation. When the exhaust driven turbine function allows compressor speeds, beyond which the hydraulic system can contribute, a slip clutch allows disengagement of the hydraulic drive. The hydraulic circuit is integrated with the power steering circuit to conserve energy and supportive components such as lines and reservoir. In an alternative embodiment, there is no turbocharger and the hydraulic drive provides means of forced induction air alone.

The method includes the passage of the stream (144) of fuel through the downstream exchanger (58) and an intermediate exchanger (50, 54) to form a reheated high-pressure fuel stream (146), the expansion of the reheated high-pressure fuel stream (146) in at least a first dynamic expander (68) and the passage of the partially expanded fuel stream (148) from the intermediate exchanger (50, 54) in a second dynamic expander (70) to form an expanded fuel stream (152). The expanded fuel stream (152) from the second dynamic expander (70) is reheated in the downstream heat exchanger (58) and in the intermediate heat exchanger (50, 54).

Abstract: A method keeps the width of the manufactured sheet substantially the same by attaching edge directors for the formed sheet to the manufacturing apparatus structure instead of to the forming block. Thus, sheet glass may be manufactured to specification for a longer time with the same forming block. An additional method adjusts the width of the manufactured sheet by changing the distance between the edge directors. Thus sheet glass may be manufactured to different width specifications with the same forming block.

Abstract: In a glass fiber forming station, bushing air is delivered to the veil from grills that encroach near the front and rear sides of the veil. Sealing material may at least partially seal the space around the bushing. The system may reduce the requirement for conditioned air, and may reduce the likelihood of dust entrainment in the veil. Pot sprays may be provided for additional cooling of the veil. In a method of retrofitting a glass fiber forming station, a station duct is attached to a main duct, and carries air from the main duct to a grill that extends near the veil, for example within 12 inches of the veil.

Abstract: A combination lock includes a lock body, a shackle, a blocker, and a plurality of dials. The shackle includes a long leg and a short leg. The blocker is disposed within the lock body and is movable in an axial direction between a shackle securing position, in which the blocker causes at least one locking member to engage with the shackle, and a shackle releasing position, in which the blocker allows the at least one locking member to disengage from the shackle for separation of the short leg from the lock body. Each dial includes a recess disposed on an outer periphery of the dial. When each dial is rotated to an unlocking orientation, each recess aligns with a corresponding dial engaging portion of the blocker, allowing the blocker to move from the shackle securing position to the shackle releasing position.

The key has pin tumbler cuts on the edge of the key. Because the pin tumblers and the related pin tumbler cuts on the edge of key can be spaced randomly along the length of the key and because the lengths of the pin tumblers and the depths of the pin tumbler cuts in the key can be random, the ability to create a duplicate key rendered substantially more difficult then a key with only lever tumbler cuts.

Abstract: A system and method for electromagnetic surface treatment of a work piece has an electromagnetic pulse generator and an electromagnetic pulse tool. The work piece has a working surface. A current pulse generated by the electromagnetic pulse generator travels through the tool producing an electromagnetic pulse. The electromagnetic pulse interacts with the working surface causing an indentation to form. A residual compressive stress layer is also formed. The indentation has a smooth and continuous topography that is described by an indentation perimeter, an indentation transition region, an indentation sidewall, an impact transition region, and an impact region. The method may also simultaneously, or subsequently, form a second indentation which overlaps with the indentation. An inter-indentation overlap region is formed when the indentations overlap. The inter-indentation overlap region is smooth and continuous. Multiple treated surfaces may easily be formed on the working surface of the work piece.

Abstract: In order to produce a formed part furnished with a through hole, a rod material is advanced by a defined length in the direction of its lengthwise extension into a forming die through a stationary guide and then immobilised by a clamping arrangement that engages with it circumferentially. The end portion of the rod material is then axially swaged by a swaging tool and is thus shaped into a disc, the circumference of which is defined by the forming die. The disc is then penetrated axially by a dishing tool and impact extruded at the same time, the displaced material flowing between the dishing tool and the inner circumferential wall of the forming die. The formed part located in the forming die is then rotated coaxially relative to the rest of the rod material and thereby separated from the rest of the rod material by torsion shearing.
